Hello all, I want to share my extreme happiness with my new Laptop that I got specifically for P3D. Seems to be a common rule that a laptop just can't get you there as well as a Desktop can. Sure, upgrades are more difficult etc, but I needed a laptop for mobility while on the road for work, so I took the plunge. Goodness, I've never been more happy. I got a MSI GS70 2QE, their "Stealth Pro" laptop. It isn't a tank like the alienware laptops, weighing in at just under 7lbs. I got it from a nice individual on craigslist for only $1250. Purchased new in Nov. 2014 and still has warranty. I kid you not, at CYYZ by FlyTampa I am getting an astonishing 32FPS locked…

I am considering buying one of these computers. http://jetlinesystems.com/computers/ They come with the tried and true Window 7 but now see they offer Windows 10. I understand Windows 10 up grade is not very good at this time and I too have gone back to Windows 7. Would Windws 10 be any better if it were the original O/S instead of an upgrade? Also does anyone out there have experience with this company's computers? Terry

Guys, Everyone is telling me other storys about cpu and gpu and what to buy. I want the best performance with addon scenery and Pmdgs 777. Running now: i5 4670k @4.5ghz Asrock z87 Formula Oc-ac 16gb ddr3 1866mhz Corsair dom. Platinum Recently bought an Zotac 980ti Amp! extreme which will stay. I was thinking on buying a X99 I7 5960x but every hardware store is telling another story about cpu performance. Question: does p3d use the 8 cores of the 5960x or is it better to stick to a 6700k? thanks in advance!

Hi all, It's been almost 6 years since I built my old trusty i7 920-based system and it's time for an all-out upgrade. Planning on jumping from FSX to P3D 3.0. Budget isn't too much of a concern but I don't want to overpay for something where I won't see any tangible benefits in P3D, which is the only game I plan on using it for. Here's what I've got in my cart on Newegg: Intel Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 95W BX80662I76700K Desktop Processor Intel® HD Graphics 530 ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII RANGER LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000…

Apart from my video card, which is now ancient by gaming/siming standards, is it yet worth a mobo and cpu upgrade? I understand a newer cpu will allow for PCIe v3, but my current cpu is running comfortably at 4.7ghz I've pretty much lost touch with current specs and trends. I'm in the process of switching from FSX to P3Dv3 too. When I bought my current i7 2700k it was pretty much 'THE' cpu for overclocking for FSX. What's todays cpu for FSX/P3D and is it about to change any time soon? Any feedback MUCH appreciated!

I get a lot of questions about PC performance in P3D V3 and it's very hard for me to judge (close to impossible) how other systems are going to work in P3D V3. So I thought I'd post my results using my main FS PC and my Test FS PC so folks could provide a "relative" reference point. 3DMark has 3 Fire Strike testing modes (base 1.1, Extreme 2K, and Ultra 4K). I ran tests for both Base 1.1 and Ultra 4K with variou CPU and GPU OC settings. Main FS PC 5960X - 16GB 3000Mhz RAM - 2x Titan X - SSDs Test FS PC 3960X - 32GB 2133 Mhz (being reported ast 3300Mhz?) - 1x GTX 970 - SSDs Detail results are here with details below: http://robainscough.com/3D_Mark_Res…

Hi Gents, i am planning on exchanging my MB and those two are my favourites. 1. MSI Z97 Gaming 7 2. ASUS Z97 Pro Gamer Except some small differences in the PCI Slots or USB Connections, they seam pretty the same. Do you have any suggestions or are you using it yourselves and have an input, which makes my decision easier? CPU will be I7-4790k 4Ghz unlocked Greetings

It seems that the debate regarding positive or negative enclosure pressure has raged for years but still opinion is equally divided. Well, after reading yet another article where the author [claiming to be a physicist] cited Bernoulli's principle and Newton's second law in order to justify his choice of positive enclosure pressure, I decided to run some tests. The proof of the pudding is in the eating as we say in the UK. You can babble on about the Bernoulli principle, conservation of energy and fluid velocity as much as you like but there's no substitute for experimentation. Because I had nothing better to do, I spent a couple of hours testing, comparing extreme…

My comparison specs are as follows; Old PC: i5 2500k @ 4.7ghz (overclocked) 16GB corsair DDR3 1600mhz 2 SSD's (totalling 160gb in total space) and 2 HDD's (for FS and games) Dark rock pro II Asus P8-z77 GTX970/GTX980ti for a time New PC i7 6700k (stock at the moment at 4.0 with 4.2 boost) 16GB 3000MHZ corsair LPX NZXT Kraken 2 SSDs 1TB for OS and games and dedicated 500gb for FS Asus Maximus Ranger VIII GTX980ti Now my results as the internet is very interested in the difference. Hi all, I currently have a AMD 6300 overclocked to 4.5ghz and a gtx 580 3gig gpu, 8gig ram. I have been using p3d for 2 years now, and finally with version 3 and some mucking around with settings I have it running what I would call 95% smooth with decent graphics. If I throw some weather into the mix though things get jittery again. I have no interest in spending big bucks as I hardly get time to sim. But I see I can get a 2500k or 2600k chip fairly cheaply on ebay now. The next generation up is quite pricey from there and perhaps not much improvement in raw power. I have a hyper evo cooler so I will be pushing the overclock as fair as it will stretch. Is it …

Hi there It's been a while since I started up my computer... And I noticed that If I run any CPU intensive program Like P3D or even GTA 5 I get very low cpu usage (about 30% ?!) resulting in lower fps. I run windows 10 64-bit and I have An i5-4200M (yes it's a laptop but some time ago it was just normal at about 80-90%) Does anybody have any clues? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Currently on 8Gb of Mushkin Blackline on P8Z68-v Pro. Not too sloppy, but I expect FSX would benefit from something a little better. The timings are 9-9-9-24 which are not exactly earth shattering for quality RAM. I'm looking to upgrade to 16Gb and something with better timings. I get a little confused with all that's available, so would appreciate any help? Ta!

Hi guys! I couldnt find the right section for this question (so if im posting in the wrong one, please move). Si its time for me to buy a new pc to enjoy P3D to the fullest. Im sick of running it with 15 fps and stuttering. I want to enjoy P3D with Active Sky, FTX Norway, PMDG and AoN with a minium of 20-30 fps. So i was wondering if you guys could help me out as i know many of you have experience with getting the best setup. I dont wanna build a pc myself, so im gonna buy one that the store will build for me. I've been looking at two different pc's (and i got the option to chose between different sets of hardware). The website is in norwegian, but all the hardwa…
