  1. Good afternoon guys, i'm not sure if this belongs to this forum or the P3D forum, but i thought it was better here. I was using FSX and running it with about 30 frames on the ground at payware scenery with addons like pmdg 777, ASN, GSX, etc, so i was quite happy with my rig. Recently i bought a Samsung 850 evo SSD and with the reinstall i decided to switch to P3D. But now that i have everything installed i get about 8 frames in aerosoft's EGLL with their A320... So i would like to ask for your opinion in what is my system's bottleneck, and what would you recommend for an upgrade with a bugdet of about 200-300 euros. Thanks in advance! MOBO : ASUS P8z77 vle CPU : i7…

Hello fellow simmers: I am a low end computer user and I love playing FSX. Here is my spec: i5-3230M @ 2.6 Ghz; 12GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce GT740M. Not a great setup and I don't know if this is asking for too much out of it. Here are the settings: LOD Radius: Large; Mesh Complexity: 20; Mesh Resolution: 5m; Texture Resolution: 15cm; Water Effects: Mid 1x; Scenery Complexity: Normal; Auto-Gen Density: Sparse. Weather settings all on minimum. With PMDG 777 on approach to FsDreamTeam's Vancouver, I only get about 8 frames with the best combination of tweaks I can find, is this asking for too much out of my system? I really want to fly with this kind of detail, but if it…

Hello guys! I have a Sony Vaio laptop that doesn't start if the battery is completely discharged, even if I connect the charger!! If I will charge the battery 10% in another Vaio, and then put it back in my laptop, everything is OK, it will start and it will charge the battery for itself, the problem is when the battery is completely discharged!! I have tried to turn it on with no battery and nothing! Any ideas for a sollution!?

  4. Hey! I've overclocked my i7 4790k from 4.3 to 4.7GHz, but when I run fsx I only got relatively small gains. (4-5 fps increase) Is there anything I'm missing, like RAM? Or is that just the sort of gains overclockers get on average? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  5. There is a ton of great advice here on new flightsim computers. This most recent post is great if one had a huge amount of free cash. http://www.avsim.com/topic/486051-trying-to-order-a-rig-today/ However, I have a maximum limit of $2,000 Canadian. I want to run my FSX after a reinstall and move into P3D v3+. I started to try building a computer on several sites and I quickly ended up well over my budget. Can you folks please give my some simple and best advice on key things I should look to. I know the video card is very important, IE 4 gig memory but which GTX should I get? I have a movie rendering business and I know that whatever I end up with…

I'm looking to build an excellent FSX and P3D rig today on Cyberpowerpc.com. I have up to 3300 to spend, but would be happy to spend less. I will be running 3 monitors, PMDG, Carenado, ASN, Rex, etc. Lots of flights into detailed terrain areas, like Los Angeles. If anyone would log into their website at www.cyberpowerpc.com and check the options, I would like an excellent computer -- I know I want an I7 6700k, and a 980 processor (or gtx 980TI) and want to get best OC from the rig. I really need help/suggestions for the following items from those of you with more expierence. Thanks very much!! John: Case and fans? MB: ? Water Cooing? Ram:? Video c…

Hi, I have just built a new PC (6700k, GTX 970 etc) and have my old computer just sitting here. The spec of it is.. Intel G3258 @ 4.5hz 8Gb DDR3 Ram 250GB SSD Drive Onboard Graphics I have heard that you can run P3D with 2 computers if you use fsuipc. My question is this.. Would I gain significantly using this spare pc to run weather or other stuff basing it on using the onboard graphics as i carried my GTX 970 over to my new build? If not, any other uses for my spare PC? Matt

I'm planning to put together a new PC using some of the parts from my ageing Q9650 build. I'd like to try out all the current main sim software - X-Plane, FSX, Flightgear, DCS World and possibly Prepar3d too, flying things like iFly737 in FSX and FF757 / FF777 in X-Plane. I've also been collecting old PCs to use as slave machines in multi-display setup, and this new PC would be providing the main graphics in that setup. Below is a preliminary list of parts. I'm not in a rush to build this thing - maybe a New Year's present for myself: Blue things are from my current system. Green things I've already bought new. ? your suggestions welcome! Hi everyone! Recently, I have been frustrated with the performance of FSX on my brand new system. My frame rate can't get over 15 on the ground, but goes up to 30 when cruising (30 is the frame rate limit). I run PMDG's NGX and 777, Aerosoft's Airbus X, and some high-class airport scenery. I already have the following tweaks applied to my FSX.cfg: [bUFFERPOOLS] Usepools=0 Poolsize=0 [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=84 [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1 TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 [DISPLAY] TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30 [Main] FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15 My computer specs: Intel i7 4790k @ 4.0ghz (HyperThreading enabled) Geforce GTX 980 ti 16 GB RAM (…

I've recently purchased the below listed components and ask for your constructive input: I7-6700 4.0 Ghz processor, NH-D15 cooler, MSI GTX 970 twin frozr GPU, 2 Samsung SSD's( a 120 gig for W7 and a 250 gig for FS), a 2TB WD Black HDD for mass storage, 16 gigs of Kingston HyperX Fury 2400 DDR 4 memory, Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 MOBO, Corsaire RM850 gold PSU, Rosewill Blackhawk ATX case. Let me know what you think please. I hesitated posting this because I see so many people already doing this but I felt like I needed to before I moved forward with this build.…

I know FSX is mostly a single core game, so what kind of perfomance will a Intel Pentium G3258 give me. I have read some very favorable reviews so far about it being overclocked to 4.5-4.8ghz. I know it is a lower end processor but with that speed what FPS should FSX run at? Will it also be able to run payware addons with acceptable FPS? Thanks! Sean

Folks buying a Skylake processor take notice that Microsoft is ending support for non Windows 10 operating systems with Skylake processors support ending mid 2017. Additionally certain components associated with the Skylake processor may not function under non Windows 10 OS, ie. USB3 and others. Use of non Windows 10 operating systems on Skylake chips is not recommended. I am not sure if this information was previously posted but I see several folks looking to make Skylake purchases on non W10 OS and wanted to get it out there. Save yourself a headache and do your homework if planning Skylake and non Windows 10 platform.

Can I download all the files to my old Hard drive and install them to the SSD or do I need to download and install them all to the SSD. I already have Steam downloaded and installed on my old HD. Is this correct. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hoping for some informed advice here. I plugged in a new device, via a new USB3 controller card (PCIe) that has an extra power feed independent of the PCIe slot. Everything worked. A day later, on switching my PC on I got a bad smell and hastily switched everything off again. What I found is pictured below. Basically the insulation has pretty much burned of one of the red wires, exposing the conductor. Regardless of what caused the fault, should the PSU overcurrent protection not have prevented this? Am I risking something else by continuing to use that PSU?

I'm putting together some old LGA775 Core2Duo PCs to use as slave PCs in a sim network setup. Depending on the graphics card that I use, from a more efficient GTX750 to an older power hungry GTX480 (yes I know it also depends on the amperage on the 12V rail), eXtreme Power Supply Calculator gives me the following wattage ranges for PSUs: E8500 ~3.8GHz (OC) 348W - 590W E8400 3GHz 318W - 560W So I'm looking for PSUs rated 400W - 650W. Any suggestions for budget PSUs under £50?

After looking at some reviews of both I see that some 980's can be clocked up to around the 1500mhz mark which is almost 300Mhz more than I can clock my GTX680 4mb version graphics card. That seems like a good jump in performance, around 25%. The reports for the 980ti though show that it can only be clocked up to around 1150Mhz, which is less than the 1200Mhz speed that I'm getting just now. Benchmarks seem to suggest that the 980ti is the best/fastest card for most games especially at 4K (which is the resolution I'm using for FSX). 1 - Why is the slower card the better in Benchmarks and what card would be the best for FSX 4K going on the premise tha…
