FSX SP2 with ASX on Windows 7 Home Premium Running a i5 2500K CPU @ 3.30GHZ 3.60GHZ 16GB RAM 1TB hard drive. Video Card is a ATI Technologies AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series. All my scenery settings in FSX are on low and im getting 25 to 50 fps with drops of 1.5 to 10fps in turbulence for some reason. (What I have noticed) With all my settings up on HIGH im getting at most 15fps. Is it my system or my video card? I would give anything to have a smooth running FSX with sliders to the max or even half way.

I have FaceTracknoir, Free Track and Open track installed. I have the CEye Camera which came with the Track Hat. I got the cam driver from Code Labs. You may ask why I have all three installed and the reason being , I just can't get it right with any of them. When I'm on one set up I make sure the other two are not on. Despite the adjustments made on all three things are always erratic. There's one thing that they all have in common and that is while testing on the screen the top led on the hat is not showing steadily like the two on the brim. I see the two with green X's but the top flashes red with a brief green X. I've tried fingering the led so it works like the other …

In the past I used Paragon to make a complete clone by having two identical physical drives and I would clone my C: drive which is dedicated to P3D and all its add ons and I would then have a plug n play bootable exact copy in case of a failure. Now my C: drive is a Samsung 500Gb SSD and uses about 250Gb of that 500Gb and while I have a new Samsung 500Gb SSD coming I'd like to put an image of my C: drive on it in a partition, and save the other half of the drive for other software. I will continue to use the 2nd drive's other software partition w/ it's own OS for various things, some games, MS Office, but wish to keep the image of my C:\ on that 2nd drive unaltered so …

I want to introduce myself: My name is Jason and I have been out of the sim world for about ten years. My last experience was FS9, with my old PC that I had built from the ground up. I loved FS9. I fell out of the sim world over the past decade because I have been busy trying to get my career on track, yada yada. Well I am now ready to reenter the world that I loved. I know that there has been a lot of changes in technology since my day of flight sim and I'm attempting to catch back up. I am hoping that I can connect with people on here to get their input and help. I would appreciate the conversation and help. I am not a big techie type person, I do not know how …

I'm contemplating upgrading my motherboard and CPU. Mobo I've pretty much decided on is Gigabyte's GA-Z170 Sniper Intel Z170(Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX. The CPU will be an i7-6700K 4.0GHz(Skylake)LGA1151 with a Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU cooler (water and electrics don't mix in my book. Devil's work!) I can't remember where I bought this RAM so I can't be more specific. The question is 'Will this RAM be OK with the above mention kit? Or will upgrading it be necessary? If so, with what. I'm not made of money

I have this GPU on the way from the person I bought it from EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 256bit P/N: 04G-P4-2978-KR. Question, If I want to add another card to utilize the SLI feature does it have to be the exact same card including the part number or would any 970 with SLI compatibility work. How much additional performance will I get with FSX and Steam with a second SLI card? Will it be worth my $$$ Thanks Randy

Hi guys, I am getting a new build ?. My Asus Z170I mobo will have one of these M.2 slots. As I am replacing one SSD anyway, I was thinking of maybe getting a Samsung 950 Pro. Does anybody have experience with it? Will Prepar3D V3 profit from it or are only the loading times improving? Tomshardware has a review about it: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-950-pro-ssd,4313.html As far as I understand it shows almost no gains in games and office applications, only gains with Adobe apps and read-write extensive apps. Should I save my money and get a conventional 2nd SSD? If not, what configuration would make sense: 1. W10 on the new 950 (256 Gb…

I am running FSX/FSX Steam and FS9. My machine has a AMD Vishera 4.3GHZ CPU and 16GB of RAM with a Corsair 750WT PSU I had an EVGA 970 in it until a couple months ago when I had to sell it due a shortcoming in the family budget. I am looking to replace it now but wont be able to stetch my funds to a 970 for awhile. So I am looking at the following Nvidia EVGA 960GTX with 2GB memory or an Nvidia EVGA 750TI Which one would you get and why? Thanks Randy

Hi everyone. So it is about time for me to make a new build, I've a good budget and it will be with euros price, so I'm not really looking at prices right now but more at the set of components. So here is the plan of what I think I will get: Processor : Intel Core i7-6700k Cooler : I'm thinking about some easy watercooler self contained system. But nothing is set in stone yet, But I'd like a bit less noise Motherboard : A Z170 based mother board not sure which one yet, but it would be great to have OC possibility in an easy way. I'm not looking at a too high OC, I was pretty happy with my current OC from 3.8 to 4.2 just by changing the turboboost sett…

I have a 5 year old CYBERPOWERPC computer with the specs shown below. The only change I made was to upgrade the primary HD is a Samsung EVO 500gb, I want to upgrade to be able to run my PMDG, Carenado, Rex, ASN, and similar with all the bells and whistles on 3 screens at least 25FPS with decent slider settings. Thinking I want at least a new 970 card, and an overclocked I7 6770 chip. Advice on what to keep, what to replace appreciated, particularly with respect to the MB, CPU, Video card, Ram, cooling etc. If you think I should just buy new, that's fine -- I value your opinions!! Budget isn't really an issue -- I want a great rig, without wasting money. …

Hi, I'm getting a laptop with the Intel i5-6300HQ Quad Core 2.3ghz (THE GPU IS NVIDIA GTX 965M 2GB), and I'd like to know about the processor, since the GPU is relatively good. Is it enough for a normal FSX experience? (Add-on airplanes, and sceneries) First I want to know with 2.3ghz... At the specification it says it has a turbo 3.2ghz, but I heard someone saying you can't enable it...

I have a 6700k with a ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger mobo. I have noticed that the default cpu voltage for 4200Mhz (turbo boost mode) was 1.312v. After reading many articles on the internet, i realised that the default is set high and most recommended that one should reduce it by setting it to manual mode. I set the cpu voltage to 1.25v. Even after manually setting the cpu voltage to 1.25v, when on load the core voltage went up to 1.38 volts at 4200Mhz. The highest reading was 1.43 v. I measured the voltages using XTU and HWMonitor. The second thing I observed is that the temp reading in the UEFI reads 42 deg C. And at idle load, temp on XTU reads 36-38 deg C. I …

Hi all, I'm looking into finally upgrading my [email protected] rig. This CPU has lasted me over 6 great years but alas the time has come to jump on the 6700k/Z170 band wagon. I want to go with 32GB memory primarily for (future proofing) X-Plane and P3D and gaming. Looking to go with DDR3400 just for the added overclocking headroom. Would I be better off going with 2 dimms or 4 dimms? 32GB (4 X 8GB) DDR4 3400 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231917&ignorebbr=1 or 32GB (2 X 16GB) DDR4 3333 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232295 Will be using one of the Asus motherboards, haven't decided which one y…

Hey everyone, I could use some recommendations and/or testimonies about Z170 motherboards. I've been planning on ordering an ASUS Z170-A soon (school ends in 2 weeks). I keep track of price changes pretty often and I read quite a few reviews just to make sure I don't miss out on any information. I get a bit uncomfortable with the reviews on Amazon and Newegg, because it seems to me that there are a noticeable amount of DOA boards and BIOS problems not just from last year, but even in very recent reviews. Are there still issues with these boards that aren't getting corrected, or am I getting a false perception and there really aren't many problems? I will be overcl…

Good afternoon, After lurking these forums for a while, I though it was time to ask for suggestions on my new build. Currently, I'm looking for a system that's under $2000 CAD that can run FSX or P3D very well. I have looked on various sites regarding the best parts for FSX\P3D and tried to match the best I could for my budget. Here is my current parts list (In Canadian Dollars): Intel Core i7-6700K Quad-Core Processor - $460.98 Corsair H80i GT Liquid CPU Cooler - $99.33 Asus Z170-A ATX LGA 1151 Motherboard - $207.25 G.Skill TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory - $119.99 Crucial BX200 480GB 2.5" SSD - $154.99 EVGA Geforce GTX980 4GB Superclock…

My specs are in my signature below. I currently run with Hyper threading ON. I have set affinity mask as 84. While running FSX, i noticed that cores 3,5.7 are getting heavily utilised 4,6,8 are not so much only minimum usage. Plus core 1 and 2 are not highly used. I also noticed in real temp, my CPU load does not cross 50% while my GPU load reported by MSI afterburner hits 99%. Questions .... A. Should I turn hyper threading off, and set affinity mask to 14 ?. Will that improve anything in FSX?.. plus maybe with HT off I could possibly OC to 4GHz ... will a o.2 GHz really help in FSX ? B. I have always read FSX is CPU intensive, but why is my CPU l…
