I'm trying to convert a bunch of FS8 and FS9 AI aircraft repaints to an FSX native format so I can use these textures also in Prepar3D v2. Anyone got a tutorial on what to do once the texture is loaded into DXTBmp, and what format to save it in? The only thing I have understood so far is that I should keep the BMP file extension, even though I change the file format. Thanks for any help!

I'm painting the PMDG 737 NGX series in my VA's livery. I can't seem to get the night tail textures on the 800 to work even though those very same textures work just fine on the 600 and 700 variants. The whole vertical stabilizer lights up. Any ideas? Thanks in advance....

Hi there.. I'm too new with repainting in FS... as a matter of fact.. I've already uploaded an repaint of Philippine Airlines A319, A320, A330 and A343 for Wilco Airbus Vol 1 and 2.. repainting this livery of PAL for Wilco Airbus was pretty straight forward because of its simple design... since then, I'm looking forward for my next repaint which is the Cebu Pacific's A319 and A320. And the new re-branded airline Zest Air (formerly Asian Spirit) with its newly arrived A320 from JetBlue..but then I was having hard time to repaint those livery because Wilco's Airbus template sliced three textures for the fuselage and a separate texture for tail section... so how do i repain…

Tutorial: Working with alpha channel in Photoshop Hello everyone. So, after I saw some people asking about how to work with alpha channel in Photoshop, I decided to make a simple tutorial for it. Tutorial was created in CS5, but this should work in any other version as well. We're going to use Photoshop ONLY. No DXTBmp! That program is only good for working with extended bitmaps, since Photoshop can't save that. But for DDS textures, you can use nVidia Photoshop DDS plugin and there's absolutely nothing Photoshop cannot do. So here we go. Step one: Assuming you already have some layer ready for alpha channel, we switch to CHANNELS tab. In case you for some reaso…

I love working with photoshop so i figured it'd be fun. not at all, for years i have been trying to do repaints and they never work haha. i finally decided im going to seek help and see what the hell im doing wrong. i feel like its such a noob thing that im missing. i have followed tutorials and everything nothing works. lets start with my carenado c340II which has all bmp texture files. i put the file into dxtbmp back up the alpha, then "send to editor" do few lil things in photoshop save again as bmp. overwrite old with new file make sure alpha is still there (i usually reload bac…

Nearing completion is a repaint based on RealAir’s N1873K and walnut panel files to recreate 1982 Beech Duke N850YR. That aircraft was featured in an AOPA Pilot magazine article published in 1983.

I'm totally new at this.... you might have seen the RealAir Duke thread where I thought I'd like to try painting... so far it's been a dysmal failure lol! Ugh..... Hey at least PART of the paint made it onto the wing somehow.... I painted it on the fuselage... any idea how it ended up there? (the red and brown stripe) Also how do I mirror this layer onto the other side of fuselage? Or do I have to paint upside down and backwards? Eeek!

Right, I'm looking to re-skin an FS2004 aircraft for use in FSX, it's textures are pants, so I'm basically having to redraw them from scratch anyway. I want to change a few things up, but first I need to know that it'll work and I won't be wasting my time... The textures are currently 1024x1024, if I simply make the new textures 2048x2048 (without mip maps!) will they load as usual or is the texture size coded into the model or anything? I know that in FS9 the max texture size if 1024, but I'm assuming this is set by the sim, so it won't be an issue in FSX? Similarly if I change the texture format will they work ok? They're currently in extended bmp format and I'd…

I was searching for a good CRJ-200 for awhile, and I came across the IRIS model. I search around hoping there would be a United express merger(skywest) repaint... but no there is not. So I decided to make my own. First of all I am a complete noob to repainting, and I don't know how to use photoshop that well. For the past day i have been working on the nose, but every thing comes up fuzzy in FSX. does anyone have any tips or tricks for me so I can make the best repaint that I can? Or is there any repaint out there? oops... epic fail on photos. Here they are again fuzzy fuzzy gold pinstripes don't really line up

I was a bit 'meh' when Alabeo released the Tommy-Hawk and I didn't bother for a couple of weeks. Then, in a moment of boredom, I got it. I am quite surprised how much I like it, especially for 23 bucks! Real one lives in Liverpool and works as a flying school teacher along with several of his ilk. Mine: A small anomoly occurs here. If I leave it with the spinner looking like the picture above, then it turns black with the engine running. Whereas, if I make it like this: Then the spinner looks like this with the engine running. On the whole I prefered this result. On AVSIM now.
