Hi everyone,First of all, thanks for a great program. One of the few things that I find annoying is that there are thunderstorms almost every time I fly in Europe. For example, it is snowing in EGLL today, AtiveSky puts the snow in correctly, but adds thunderstorms. Here is the info right now:EGLL 300419Z 301206 34018G32KT 9999 SCT030 TEMPO 1206 5000 -SHSN BKN030CB PROB40 TEMPO 1406 2000 SHSN BKN014 BKN020CB TEMPO 1806 34017KTActual METAR: EGLL 301520Z 34027G41KT 3000 -SHSN SCT020 BKN038 01/M02 Q1007 TEMPO 1500 SHSN BKN010Any chance of this being fixed? I seem to remember someone else bringing this up.Thanks

Damian, Just a thought. I would like to have the ability to, rather than populate the fields in my own customized weather scenario, to select from several pre-defined scenarios. For example: low visibility, heavy thunderstorms, high surface winds, etc. Just a thought.Boyd BarkerSenior Command CaptainKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineshttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/DFexperience.jpghttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.htmlMy DF737 Around the World Adventure: http://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/aroundtheworld.html

I've noticed that when flying the airspeed fluctuates allot. This never happened before and I've got heat and ice protection on. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Maybe a setting in the FSUIPC module?Doug

Glenn,I think I know why you were having problems modifying a metar file. There may be several entries for the same airport in any given metar file. Chances are when you changed an entry but did not see the change reflected in wxRE it was because another metar entry for your airport nearer your system time was being used.Look for multiple entries in the .met file. Change one and delete the rest. This worked fine for me.See my post to Damian in the previous threads you were involved in for the latest on the problem I found.Dykes Cupstid

Within the last week I purchased ActiveSkywxRE (I love it) and have set it up as instructed, including copying over the fsuipc.ini file. I have noticed that the data giben to me on 122.00 is different than that provided on ATIS. I have checked this at a variety of stations (KJFJ, KART, KFZY, KROC as I want to see how the low viz and precip is modelded) For example KROC ATIS 124.82 20150Z 24912 4SM 1/M1 2982 KROC FSS 122.0 21954Z 29013G23 6SM -SN BR BKN013 BKN080 OVC200 1/M1 2984 I am running ActiveSky 1.1, FSUIPC 2.96, and ActiveSky is running on a host system using WideFS (properly working)What do I need to change? This is the best I've seen yet on FS2002. Overcast, snow, broken tops, felt incredibly real flying through it. Love the patchy vis on approach while transitioning layers.Question: I've noticed with other weather gens and now with ActiveSky WxRE that occassionally I get a low overcast layer, but after passing through it (on the climb) I can look down and see the ground. It's as though the layer dissappears after transition. I've seen it already with AS on the climb.I've also seen (with other gens) where on approach you can see the field with perfect vis, then drop below a specific altitude and vis is gone. This has thrown me right off, you request a visual approach th…

Hello,Maby its beaten to death? But I realy like to know: 'what are the best FSUIPC settings for most realistic icing and turbulence'?1)Set turbulence as a variability with a strenght of ....(1-20)?2) Do I also need to enable "ad random turbulence"?...I already enabeled 'ad random ice in clouds' and 'ad turbulence in cloud'!Also IN the FS2002.cfg I changed "TurbulenceScale=1.000000' in 2.000000...Is it true thatb that gives better realism? Please can someone explain?Thanksvortovor

Hi everyone.Since I upgraded to version 1.15 when the weather is updated FS2002 freezes for a few seconds and then it gets going again, but today after that I started getting a strange humming noise after the weather was updated. When I was using version 1.0 I wasn't getting any such problems. Now what I would like to know is if this has happened to someone else before or not. In the end it might not even be a problem concerning Activesky, but wanted to have some feedback, thanks!Regards,Bjorn

Hi, had a wind problem lately in a 777 on a flight from KORD - MYNNWind transitions were nice and the weather also except that on approach to Nassau I still got the winds aloft instead of the expected ground winds. 97knt from 10 o'clock from an Alt of 25000 to Airport height ( some feet above ground )Otherwise, despite some instability on shutdown in XP proa fine product, so far.[p]You can visit Maddys Flightsimulator Multiplayer Tours at
Maddy's Tour Pages]
[/p]Athlon 1GhzAsus K7VT512MB SDRAM PC133GF3 Ti200 (nv29.42)SB-LivePlatinumWin98SE / Suse Linux 7.2DSL Connection 768kb/s down / 128kb/s upFS2002pro only currently [/font

Hi, Although I have a 56K modem with excellent response from my ISP I have only one telephone line. Thus my question: Does Active Sky have an option, beside the two mentioned in the ActiveSky manual, to allow updating the weather periodically such as FSMeteo? Thank You

I am working with Damian on this but so far no luck.I can't get clouds to form below about 1000 feet MSL. If the layer is above about 1000 feet everything is fine. Below about 1000 feet they never appear. I have confirmed latest ADVDISP, latest FSUIPC with appropriate settings, all the obvious things. I am running wxRE 1.15. Any help would be most appreciated. I like to fly IFR approaches to minimums and this problem is making that impossible if ActiveSky is running.

I fly a short flight CYVR to CYQQ. This is the weather at Vancouver: -CYVR 011800Z 09005KT 15SM -SHRA FEW010 SCT018 BKN037 OVC070 08/06 A3005At 9000 I am in the clear and I am within 10 miles on CYVR. On route there is a low undercast but on entering the downwind pattern (6000') to CYQQ I see blue skies with scattered clouds and clear view of the ground even though I am within 5 miles of CYQQ, Then on long final I get CYQQ weather which is awful: -CYQQ 011800Z 29005KT 6SM -SHRA BR BKN005 OVC026 06/06 A3005 RMK SF6SC2 SLP175Why can I not get bad weather for the entire trip, as CYVR and CYQQ are only 73nm apart? From personal experience weather like this usually has cloud l…

On the VATSIM site I saw a link for a program called vMETAT, [http://www10.brinkster.com/vmetar/] I have tried it with ActiveSky and it works, I don't know what the hit on frame rate is yet or if it works over WideFS. From what I have seen you just enter the ATIS freq in your comm2 radio and I was hearing the ATIS, the only down side is that some of the information was in meters.EnjoyKevin

Hi Damian,First many thanks for ActiveSky wxRE, especialy latest version which now allows FSFlightMax radar to function.I am a long time user of FS Meteo but ActiveSky is replacing it, certainly for off line flying. I still use Meteo for vatsim flying because it gets Eurpoean winds aloft so I look forward to using ActiveSky more when you incorporate European winds aloft. Now to a suggestion, and I have no idea if it is feasible or practical.Would it be possible to have a feature that would calculate en-route head/tail winds to be input into a fuel planner? In FS Meteo you can import a FS flight plan and Meteo will give you winds aloft at the reporting stations en-route and …

Hi Damian and others !Just a quick question/problem which i didn't pay any attention so far.METAR:EHGD 010720Z 31011G21KT 260V330 9999....at the beginning, I receive wind changes between 11 and 21 kts (according to my wind gauge) but don't get any heading changes (260V330)...the heading is fixed to 304

Right now I prefer to change the game to a custom time and have MSFS2K2 General Options set to Flight Time, not System Time, and have unchecked the box in ActiveSky that synchronizes with System Time. When I arrive at my departure airport, the METAR is for the time I set in MSFS2K2. That's fine. When the first ActiveSky weather update comes, however, it reverts to Zulu system time so the weather changes are drastic and my METAR times do not match my flight times. Please help.Boyd BarkerSenior Command CaptainKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineshttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/DFexperience.jpghttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.htmlMy DF737 Around the World …

I provide this information in case I've discovered a bug with ActiveSky and not because I know much about weather systems or reporting. I would however appreciate knowing whether these weather reports are in fact accurate.I frequently fly the CYHZ (Halifax, N.S. Canada) to CTTY (St. John's Newfoundland, Canada) route (V314) which takes me over St Pierre (LFVR). On each flight(at least the last3 this week) I have encountered thunder and lightening as I approach St Pierre which lasts for a period of 10-20 nm. This seems a bit unusal as the outside temperature at FL210 was -35 - -40. I cleared my FS2002 weather prior to each flight. I use Wx processing and have input from…
