Can anyone help?It would be extremely useful if someone can writea batchfile to rename/and save the downloaded weatherfiles, eg 15Z.wxd to something more useful such as dateand time eg 30-1-2003.taf, but this need to be done to thetaf, wind, and metar files, then pointed to within thenewly named wxd file.I'm doing this each time by editing the wxd file as I can't do the programming. Can these file be kept in a sub directory?? Eventually Ican build up a season of weather to re-use. Sometimes theInternet connection takes TOO long and I oftenget timeouts - this will be a good alternative.HANDMickBz

Hi Damian,I still have those serious stutters during the weather updates. They only happen for a short time but still sometimes it is getting really annoying. My system is fairly fast and I never experienced this with the other weather program.Did you found the cause of this already?Thx,Alex

First off, love the product. :)I'd like to make a suggestion, though.Could you please implement an option that will let a user check a box that tells the program that when the FORCE distance is reached it should immediately download and use the Destination wx AND after doing so do not update again unless told to do so manually? This should happen no matter what the normal settings are.For example, I have my FORCE distance set to 100 nm, Update on new METAR station unchecked, Update on new Winds Aloft unchecked, METAR update interval 5 min, Winds Aloft update interval 10 min, and Disable FORCE wind updates checked. While the winds at the Destination Airport don't get ch…

Damian,Would you please try the following metar at KMLU.KMLU 302153Z 04004KT 6SM BR OVC009 04/02 A3027The overcast layer never develops for me. I get the visibility reduction as expected. Winds and temperatures are fine, but NO OVERCAST, in fact no clouds at all. The status window is showing an overcast layer, but no clouds ever appear.I am running version 1.15.Thanks.

Due to visibility anomalies caused by FSUIPC 2.95, I was forced to return to Ver. 2.94, subsequently rendering Radar Contact 3.0 unusable. Will I need 2.95 to run ActiveSky ?Thanks, John M.

RE: ActiveSky wxreI have config the option window of ActiveSky and the Fsuipc options. Everything worked until I downloaded and installed the up date. Now when I ask for a down load it takes a long time to respond and when it does it reports errors, such as download timeout or error reading wrex.ini, may be file/folder incorrectly set? I have check the ini to make sure all values are correct. Winds aloft are always all zeros. Suggestions? Help??John G.Spokane, Wa

For the past two days, I have been unable to use ActiveSky.Once again, I get as far as downloading of the winds aloft and that's it. No message, no nothing -- just the hourglass. At first, I thought that it might be a NOAA problem, but I haven't seen any other posts that indicate a problem, other than AOL users. I am not and will not be an AOL user, so I'm sure that is not the problem.I had this happen several week's ago with the latest update, but then it went away. I didn't have a clue then, and don't now. It just started working.Anyone else having a problem downloading weather? If not, Damien, do you have any ideas of what I might look for? I have made absolutely …

I recently purchased the software and am enjoying theeffects it creats. I have been using "the other" weatherapplication, but I would certainly like to continueusing ActiveSky from here on.I am also starting to experience a problem with myProject Open Sky Boeing 767 while using ActiveSky version 1.1.As I near the destination airport, (and the programappears to update/lock the weather), the airspeed indicator arrow drops down to zero. While the airplanecontinues to fly at previously set airspeed (seeing the GPS),the air speed indicator (both the analog and digital)shows zero.I did not have this problem at all before using ActiveSky,even when using "the other" weather appli…

Hi there, since Comair is eating all my money I had to switch back from cable to good ole dial up (AOL). Now, ever since I switched I'm having an incredible hard time downloading METAR's.Most of the time the download takes around 2-3 minutes but it appears to be very unrealible (timeout error message). I don't have a firewall active and today for the first time I can't get the download to work period (timeout error message appears immediately).I've searched this forum and found a few posts, but no solutions yet. Any kind soul out there to help me with friggin AOL ;-)Cheers,Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifAthlonXP2000,AbitKX7-333(latest4in1),512MB/27…

Good day everybodyIt's been now three days I've been using ActiveSky shareware version.Although I've done all the proper configuration actions to the program itself and FSUIPC 2.9.5 according to the installation hints,I get this strange picture. Every time I climb to a high cruising level(FL100 - FL400) the wind direction changes like crazy all around the clock plus the wind speed which goes to extreme figures(110kts)and back again to normal. This happens every time every flight every place!! I'm using WinXP, FS2002Pro, Squack Box(latest version), FSUIPC 2.9.5,ActiveSky.Besides this, the program works just perfect.Does anybody know what's going on with this wind situation …

G'day all, I installed the 1.15 update as soon as it was released and found a new bug/issue. During fs2002 flights (aircraft on autopilot and time set at 1x) periodicly the computer would task jump out of fs to the desktop. It was as if I had hit the key combination. This never used to happen. After a little deeper investigating I think that this jump happens when ActiveSky wxRE downloads the latest weather. When I have the update interval set to 10 minutes...it jumps every 10 minutes...when set to 30 minutes...it does it every 30. The jump does not kill FS. I can task jump back into FS and nothing is lost...even on a long flight where it sits minimized all night…

Hi all,Here is a message from John Dekker concerning RC3.01 and ActiveSky wxRE's latest integration features..-DamianRC3.01 Beta availabledownload it from here www.jdtllc.com/v3/rcv301.zipthis is a beta release (but no bad reports as of yet).there are a number of things it improves on1) air carriers are not called at little airports during synthetic chatter2) altimeter is not called every 30 seconds, because an external weather program is smoothing the transition3) support for active sky arrival weather4) THERE IS NO GROUND AWARENESS IN THIS BUILD5) fs98 wind direction, speed and visibility are now correct6) remembers the last transition altitudes/FL's between sessions, e…

Dear Damian Clark,Since you obviously will not tolerate criticism of your product of any kind (having warned me not to attempt such in a previous thread below), I will consent to your 'warning' if you simply give me my money back for a defective and misrepresented product.Activesky has had defective issues from the beginning and subsequent updates have failed to fix a number of problems. Consider this analogy: if I purchase a new car and find out that the headlights don't work correctly I happily return to the dealer for repairs under warranty. Things do happen of course, mechanical defects are a part of life and it is entirely reasonable to accomodate the dealersh…

Hi Damian,Glad to see you back up and online again :-).I was just thinking, and I have no idea as to how difficult this might be to accomplish, but (and this is with respect for sure!) I have an idea that you might consider for a future release of wxRE.As it stands now, wxRE launches and spends a few minutes loading in the last METAR's, etc. it had to work with from the previous session. Then I immediately (after it's finished loading) go off and download the wx for the next session I'm about to start. This is true whether or not I'm using the program in on or offline mode. Thus, it spends time each time it comes up, loading in METAR's twice (one set from the previous …

Hi Damian, Thanks for the update but the visibility bug is still evident in 1.15. For example, position your self at Adelaide YPAD and have the following METAR set in the offline MET file:YPAD 220529Z 14017KT //// 29/24 Q1020and you will see the visibility drops to zero. The set TAF isYPAD 220407Z 0606 14012KT CAVOK FM02 21013KT CAVOK T 28 24 20 19 Q 1020 1019 1018 1017And my PC time 19:16 local and 221016ZI look forward to any fix you can give for this case. Until then I have to go back to 1.0Regards,Stephen

On the Weather Planning display, it would be really nice if the winds aloft reports were sorted by station id. Is that something we can expect in the next version upgrade or two? Thanks.

I have just purchased ActiveSky wxRE and I cannot use the program because it is taking me ages or quite impossible to download from AVSIM.com ActiveSky wxRE v1.0 Documentation - wxre-docs.zip.Your earliest reply will be greatly appreciatedThank you.RdgsBrian

I have 1.15 Retail installed.... and for last three flights KDFW to LAX i reach cruise altitude (FL350) and when a new station reports my airplane acts like a wave of air has hit it and in all three instances has effected my flight envelope thus, my airspeed dropped to 30 or so i drop out of the sky which is not good for business. Most of the time when active sky reported a new station my plane would change direction sometimes by 10 to 20 degrees. It might be the way I have the airplane configured but funny when a new station reports its like my directional needle is all over the place. I programmed FSUIPC according to specs in the Active sky down load Any one else…

Hi Damian,I noticed that the automatic setting of the Destination airport and force option in AS after starting RC3 does not work any more after I upgraded to V 1.1 and 1.15. I reinstalled and went back to 1.0 and verified that this feature works in this version. Is this a known issue ?Dirk

I am currently using the latest freeware version of Active Sky as an evaluation of the pay version. One problem I seem to be running into quite frequently is that I am given a runway to land at an airport and then vectored to that runway. When I contact the tower I am then of course given instructions to land on the opposite facing runway. In the pay version is this problem solved or is there a way to avoid this. Thanks for the info Andrew

How do you set activesky to prevent tower assigning the opposite runway on ILS final? I do have version 1.15

Hello:Please let me suggest an useful improvement of ActiveSky WXre.I'm using FS and many addons (like ActiveSky WXre) for training my IFR skills, because to fly in adverse weather conditons is an essential training to real pilots.Although ActiveSky allows to write 'custom' Metars, I found write 'bad weather' by hand in ActiveSky WXre into my flight route and destination airport very hard and time consuming, nothing to say that the results isn't the expected. My suggestion is a module in ActiveSky WX that allows a more 'visual' orientation and automation to personalize the weather using, say, buttons, check boxes, radio-buttons, text boxes, options combo and drop-down menu…
