Hi all,There was a problem in the installer for the v1.6 update where it would not properly update your files to the correct version if you were updating from version 1.1 or higher (version 1.0 was ok).Since the website is getting hit heavily right now, I am unable to update the original update file.I have thus uploaded a new file called http://www.hifisim.com/wxre16updateb.zipPlease use this link to download the fixed installer 1.6 and install over your existing installation. Thanks! And sorry for the trouble..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weat…

Hey Damian,First of all congrats with the latest Active Sky wxRE v1.6! I'm downloading it right now and I'm sure it will bring me as much pleasure as the 1.15 did :-)I noticed that the banner on Avsim still says "version 1.1 now available!" (see example below) Although I suppose that's technical spoken not a lie, it might be a good idea to change the banner, thus boosting your sales a bit... As a very satisfied customer, your concern is mine....Keep up the good work!rgds,Ben KahThe Netherlandshttp://www.avsim.com/ads/wxre_banner.gif

Hello Damian, I have tried to install your v1.6 update per your latest revised posting on this forum and I receive the following response:"You must have a valid version of wxRE installed before running this update. Go to www.hifisim.com." I had installed the v1.5 update a while ago with no problems. My present working ActiveSky version is:"ActiveSky 2002© 2002 Damian Clarkv1.5" I have ActiveSky installed on drive G: in folder ActiveSky2002. My downloaded file for v1.6 is : wxre16updateb.zip as per your latest posting regarding the newer version of the V1.6 update. This version 1.6 update installs similar to the original v1.6 I had downloaded earlier today.…

...and first of all: good stuff! :)I like the new flightwatcher voice feature. It sounds quite nice and is very helpful to determine the probably arrival runway depending on actual weather - very good.Unfortunately, the new real winds aloft did not work - at least this time.I just flew from EDDL over EDLW to EDDB (west to northeast germany), but there was nowhere any "useful aloft data" (on- and offline). Therefore I had to check "winds aloft simulation" again - although I expected never need to use it anymore.Maybe we can find a solution - would be a bummer to leave this most interesting feature...

I give up. I'm not a mind reader. Guess I have to stay with 1.4

Hi there Damien its Jim Cross here.Just a quick note to say that 1.6 is in and working nicely. Once again you excelled yourself in supporting the initial release issues ( I was a bit slow off the mark downloading the update so had no problems at all). Thanks for your assistance with the KM visibililty issues. Its nice to see the back of them once and for all - I can look out across the virtual NZ mountains and not have to resort to CatIII ils approaches wherever I go!!Once again, well done with the support mate. If only all Net based suppliers were as good!CheersJim Cross

Hi all,The beta team has confirmed that there is an intermittent problem with ADVDISP 2.01, which "locks up" all FSUIPC communications, disabling any FSUIPC add-on such as wxRE. The symptoms of this include failure of winds or other weather to update appropriately or timely. The occurance of this is very rare based on reports..If you have this problem, you should disable ADVDISP. I will be looking into a solution or work-around to enable to use of ADVDISP on these few problematic systems (perhaps resulting in an ADVDISP update to address this FSUIPC communication issue). Thanks!-Damian

Damian Clark…

I cannot get Activesky 1.5 to work on my computer. I tested this out to see if active sky was connecting and getting results from the internet which it was. It got the weather, works fine for about a minute or so, then the sky goes all foggy and cannot see much. It is like flying in heavy fog conditions. Yet Active sky is connected to the internet a I flew in windowed mode to see if it was connecting and it was. If I go and clear the weather in FS2002 then what activesky picked up works once again for a short while then goes all foggy again. Any ideas of what's causing this? As I do know if your not connected to the interent Active sky does not work.

Hi all,The Beta is progressing... we identified some relatively minor (but time consuming) problems over the past few days of testing and are working hard to address them before release of the v1.6 update. Release candidate should go out by the end of the weekend, so official release should happen before Wednesday unless any problems come up. Thanks everyone!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http:/…

Hi all, we have one report of a user who is getting certain "lockup" issues with wxRE that have not been reported before. If you could take a look at this post and let us know if you have the same problem it would be much appreciated!---------Happened most recently last weekend on a flight from Amsterdam to Salzburg. All the way over Germany (so not one reporting station) Activesky would lock up (start consuming 100% CPU time). Killed AS and restart, and it will lock again after a few minutes (so probably while processing the next downloaded weather cycle).Running ActiveSky with visibility reduction turned off, TAF forecasting (dynamic stuff) off, FSFM export on (but no F…

I am having problems getting ActiveSky wxRE and Project Magenta glass cockpit to run together using WideClient. Both programs work fine if you use them separtely. If you load ActiveSky and then load the glass cockpit the cockpit panel exits back to the desktop. This problems does not occur when you are use the freeware version ActiveSky 1.5. So I am assuming that the problems is with ActiveSky wx RE. (Ver1.15)Regards,Andrew.

I'll be darned if I can find anything more than my order number from Simmarket.I've searched high and lo, but no luck. Can you please tell me whether the order number is sufficient, or do I just re-install from v1.0 on up?Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience. *:-*Ron McLeod

I made a flight today from Miami to Grand Turk Island (MBGT). Using Radar Contact v3.01 the destination will not force since MBGT is not a valid METAR station. I got an error that said "METAR report not found/ID not valid." I was wondering if there is a work around for flying to airports with no METAR reports to force destination weather, or a potential update in the future to use the nearest station. Thanks for your help.kb

Can someone please advise a non tech head why the clouds on my system look great until I fly through them, pan sideways and see only thin vertical sheets? Is this normal? Am I missing a setting somewhere?System 2.53GH, 512MB DDR @ 266MHz, 64mB GeForce 4, XP pro, FS2002 cloudsThanks in advance

Damian, Three ideas to throw into the mix for future versions if you think they are worth while: (Based on version my 1.15)1. I start ActiveSky wxRE from within a "programs" section of FSUIPC.ini. I have noticed that occasionally I end up with two instances of ActiveSky wxRE running in the computer(my fault I know but still easy to do and I may not see the extra ActiveSky wxRE form because it's hidden beneath full screen FS2002!). Both instances don't cause a crash but they slow FS down. Shouldn't your program check to see if ActiveSky wxRE is already running before launching?2. I run ActiveSky wxRE on my second monitor. Therefore, I'd prefer that the screen po…

For goodness sakes, we are now approaching the two month mark PAST the time when you orginally stated you would release an Activesky version with international winds aloft, Mr. Damian Clark. I've really tried to remain patient with all of the subsequent delays but frankly at this point I'm wondering if version 1.6 will even be released before Flight Simulator 2004 is this summer. This is getting ridiculous! If you cannot make a reliable version 1.6 with international winds, please just state such without continuing to mislead customers or potential customers any further, thank you. And please do not flame back messages about how impatient I am and how you develo…

I'm having a lot of problems with ActiveSky and rain. Quite often I'm at an airport which I know it is raining at, the downloaded Metar indicates rain but no rain appears in FS2002. If I look at the weather menu in FS2002 it shows no rain. I download the same Metar using FSMeteo and sure enough FS2002 has rain.An example of the metar is:EGGD 051420Z 28008KT 6000 RA SCT001 BKN002 06/05 Q1009.If I use FSFlightmax it shows the rain echoes ok. Also as an aside why are the rain echoes in ActiveSky shown as having such a small range form the reporting station compared with FSMeteo? It appears like there are large gaps between the echoes where it isn't raining. Can anybody help?

Just curious,Does ActiveSky model thermals & other temperature currents as well as up-drafts from slopes / mountains?.Just curious as I am an old FUIII flyer & I used to enjoy the Stemme motor glider. A Stemme has recently been released for FS2002, so I'm wondering weather (pardon the deliberate misspell :-)) I will have the ability to experience these things in FS2002?RegardsAl

Hi Damian, this is to let u know that the stutter while updating the weather has nothing to do with a system overload.I built a new system this weekend. XP2600+, nForce chipset, 512 MB DDR PC 2700, GF4Ti4600..... very fast.Fresh FS2002 install, no add-ons running, standard MS ac. Guess what...serious stutters during updates. So really, I do not want to read again in this forum that this is not an ActiveSky problem. I hope this will finally be fixed in the next version.Alex
