We have a problem but I can't find out where. The message at the top of the window reads, "Configuration/Loop error (Voice or Database files)".I've already removed all wxRE files from my system and reloaded V1.0 from scratch, updated to V1.7 and tried V1.8 beta again with the same results - "Configuration/Loop error (Voice or Database files)".I'm now back to V1.7 and the program is working as in the past, very well.If this is a beta problem, that's a problem I cannot solve. If not, what can I do on this end to clear the error?

Hi,Using AS1.7 and when out of range of a valid WMO ALOFT station, what logic goes into the upper level winds simulation? Does the program simply reference surface winds or does it take into account actual ALOFT data from the nearest out of range stations in order to build a simulated upper level wind model with fidelity? Thank you.

Hi,I want to apologize up front for any dumb mistakes or questions that I am making, but I am kinda new to this. I recently purchased for the first time ActiveSky v 1.7. I got it all loaded up and going.... no problems there. I am currently running FS2002 Professional Edition, Pentium 4, Windows XP, 512 memory and Nvidia Ti 4200 64 mb, FSUIPC v2.972.My Issues are:Problem 1- Where are the directions to install FSFlightMax and Radar Contact v3? I've downloaded it, and unzipped it into my FS Modules file assuming that was correct. I found no instructions w/ the download. Also, I did not understand how to setup the settings so it can run with ActiveSkyv v1.7.Problem 2- I am h…

I'm having problems with winds aloft since updating to v1.7. I took off today from EBBR with a surface wind of 08010G24 and almost imediately after t/o encountered not only the planned gust but also gusts of up to 98 kts! The gusting stopped after a few thousand feet and settled in to a steady 98 kts. This of course is not correct. It seems that my winds went up to the value indicated in the winds aloft data very shortly after t/o instead of gradually increasing. Also, AS is reporting the winds aloft should be 210 at 83 but the FMC is showing actual winds of 125 at 98. Any idea what could be causing these problems? Thanks for any help. …

  8. Hi Damian.Tonight I did my first "ActiveSky flight" over VATSIM network, from LIME to LIRN (ITALY) with the PSS A320-200I have these problems with ActiveSky (I use your fsuipc.ini):- during all flight I have a strange problem: my airspeed indicator continue to change quickly! Well... in others words my IAS is not stable but changes from 200 to 280 kts!!! The strange thing is that the wind is stable (from 300 at 30kt)After some tests I solve this problem checking the SUPPRESS GUSTS and TURBULENCE in FSUIPC-WIND page. Is this correct?- At LIRN (my destination) wind is vrb at 03kt but I have wind from 330 at 14kts until to touchdown, then wind change to 03kts :-)About Flight…

Hi Damian! Finally I bought your great program!I hope to test it during this week.Tonight I run a quickly tour into it to see how it worksI see (but I don't know if my mistake or not) there is no metar decoder in the program, like in FSMeteo (i have FSMeteo too).Ok... I know the metar code so for me no problem ;-)but I like to know if there is the possibility to see a sort of "decode-window" (for example in the wxbriefing window).I try also the Flightwatch in FS2002 using the 122.00 on COM1It's great!!! eh,eh,eh :-jumpyMany thanks Damian!Best regards,Max.------------------------------- Flight - Sky - Freedom-------------------------------..and sorry for my bad English

Hi Damien, hi Jim,I've been using ActiveSky without any difficulties since its very first version and I'm very happy with it, but now as of version 1.7 I'm also getting those dreaded timeouts.I'm connecting via DSL and about only one out of eight tries will result in a complete download w/o timeout during .wmo creation. (METAR and TAF download works fine every time, BTW) I have two different providers I can connect with, it's the same with either one. Also I haven't noticed any difference at which time of day I connect.I can reach http://raob.fsl.noaa.gov manually without any problems. Here's the traceroute (starting near Munich, Germany) with the timings:>tracert raob…

Hi guy's here is a tip to get the Voice feature in Active Sky 1.6Make or if there is already one on your desktop a short cut to the Activesky Program. Right Click on the short cut and replace the line in the Target with something like this:%comspec% /C "start /ABOVENORMAL G:ActiveSkywxREwxRE.exe"Just replace the path to Active sky to your respective path.A note to mention on the path must be all one word if you have to change the folder name of Active sky pleas update this in the wxre.ini file as well. I tested this it works well!Cheers,Michael GallagherHappy Weather Flying!

Hi Damian, first of all I tried the offline download of winds aloft at roab.fsl.noaa.gov and it works pretty nice, many thanks, so now I can download my wx files and fly offline whenever I get the time !I noticed some minor small and not-at-all important bugs in the voice feature of V1.7.Fixed it was the QNH and that's good for all of us flying European skies, but wxRE seems unable to handle correctly the "variable" winds (eg: VRB03KT is not spoken at all except some pings), the "variable direction winds" (eg: 180V270) and the "M00" (minus zero) figurte in temperature reports. Also it's not able to say "CAVOK".Any chance to have an improvement ?Thanks...Enrico.

It starts the d/l and about 30 seconds later I stop receiving data and the timeout error shows up. I never had this problem before. I tried it maybe a dozen times today.Any help appreciated. Thanks, Adam

Re: "Clearing Real World Weather;" the following partial excerpts are from the thread under Topic#551, "FS2k2 Crashes w/ ActiveSky 1.6" presently shown on page 2 or this forum. Steve Lewis submitted the original post stating he had some problems with FS2k2 crashing and he thought it might be caused by AS ver. 1.6. The first quote below (1.) is from my reply which was an attempt to help by explaining how I used AS ver. 1.6. The second quote (2.) is from Steve's reply to me. The third post (3.) is from you, Damian, and it seems to question the purpose or reason for my clearing FSRWW. I inferred from your sentence that this was the first time you had heard of anyone clearing…

An example:I position myself at EGLC for a trip to EGCC, start ActiveSky and let it do it's stuff. On the Wx briefing I set departure as EGLC and destination as EGCC and it gives me a METAR and TAF for the depature at EGLC........but on the main screen it gives me EGKB as the active weather station (distance 11nm).Why doesn't it give me EGLC since I'm sitting on the tarmac there and a METAR obviously exists because it's given me it in the Wx briefing?Any suggestions appreciated.Kind regards,Stuart

Ok, 1.6 gave me the QNH info in the measurements used in the U.S., now the 1.7 gives me the millibar measurement which is of course no good to me because flightsim is set for U.S. measurements and I have no idea how to convert on the fly. This isn't a problem really for the default aircraft since I can just hit the "b" buttong and it will automatically set it but on some of the PSS aircraft you have to manually adjust the value. I can't find anything in the options that sets this, am I out of luck here or what?

During a 7 hour flight I flew through many aloft stations and the wind never changed form 327 degrees at 61 kts at FL350. Average winds for the trip should have been around 280 at 15 to 20 kts. Been having this problem for about a week and can't seem to figure out how to fix it. If anyone knows how to solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
