HiWell done with 1.8, better downloads.Strangely, I have a problem that I had with an earlier version. I was making an ILS approach into Lisbon, wind 180/07, nice decent then suddenly at around 400ft from touchdown my aircraft was all over the place I could not control a satifactory landing and crashed on the runway.Any ideas as to the cause would be helpfulthanksBob

Hi, all! I have been having a recurring problem. I get cleared for the approach into any airport, and as soon as I talk to the tower they clear me for the OPPOSITE runway. For example, tonight I was cleared for the visual approach into RWY 12R at KCPS. Once I was told to contact the tower, I was told to make left traffic for the visual RWY 30L approach. This has happened almost every time I fly using ActiveSky 1.8, and I am also using FS Traffic 2002. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! My ILS skills will thank you!

While online using VATSIM,Roger Wilco, and Active Sky, I was nearing the end of my flight under the control of LAX_CTR when the sky turned white, and I lost all weather and the power in my aircraft dropped to zero - engines off. No matter what I did I could not the start engines.This has happen before in other locations.Anyone have any answers.If I disconnect Active Sky and choose my aircraft again, and then use weather from VATSIM , no problems.My computer is a DELL 8300 ,Windows XP, 525 RAM, and 2.5 gigs.Thanks.Joe:-zhelp

Hi Damian (I have just loaded down the latest versions of activesky and Fs Sky.I am auto installing FsSky now according to there manual Quote Auto install will work on all 3rd party generators etc.It then goes on to say quote You should set your time setting little less than the update from the 3rd party weather generator.Ie auto install set to 5mins and the third party generator to 6mins(weather update). I am not queit sure do i have to go into options and what section do i have to compare.Do you have some thoughts on this matter as to what would be an overall effiencient setting. Hi Damian,Thanks for that.I keep getting messages re winds aloft not working (when I'm running in conjunction with Active Sky Australia module), which saves to a current set for offline use.The setup of this involved appending some Australian data to the FDWINDS.TXT file first, such as:A30,S,37,40,E,144,50B30,S,37,54,E,147,35C30,S,37,40,E,144,50D30,S,37,38,E,142,00etc etc.Does V1.8 still use this FDWINDS.TXT file or is there some other reason for the error do you think?Many thanks.

Hell to all,I have read in the Active Sky Manual that one should make experiments with Fs Sky world to choose the ideal sets of clouds to get the best results in Actvie Sky.1. I installed yestereday the new FS Sky World 2.4 (even better tant he previous version)The amount of possibilities is so wide that I get confused.Has somebody found (in either that version or in the previous ones ) the ideal configurations of all clouds type for ActiveSky.2. Hey all!In game, I am getting the green bar across the top of the screen with the scrolling wx text, and a couple other things. I have the Disable text box checked in options, but still get this.Any ideas? Or is this even Activesky? I dont remember the original text scroll being that way, but I never used it but about 20min.Here is a screen so you can see most of the info to determine if its Activesky or not.

Hello All,had initial success with the FlightMax / ActiveSky combo yesterday, seeing nice radar echoes of the ActSky generated rain.But I now cannot repeat it any more and got confused again... Setting up the export folder (sometimes with, sometimes without trailing slashes :+ ) etc. has all been neatly solved already; this is strictly about what files are actually needed in that folder.I am using ActiveSky 1.17 and Fmax 1.4, on a machine separate from the one running FS2002, and yesterday had it all running smoothly in offline mode at least.But I noticed that the older ActSky version 1.15 always put a file named wx-export.met into the export folder -- this one duly turne…

Hi all!This morning I discovered kinda hilarious bug with ActiveSky!I departed from Dublin (Ireland) for a VFR to Galloway and en route ATC asks me to switch to Baldonell at 122,00Mhz. and guess what happened, this is the ATIS frequency of ActiveSky as well, and ATC passed out completely!ATC was able to speak half a sentence, then I heard a crack, and no ATC anymore!That crack makes it hilarious I think :-)After testing this situation a few times I discovered that things happen quite randomly.ATC collapses almost every time but sometimes it does not and both ATC and ActiveSky ATIS can be heard (very annoying hehe) until a frequency change is necessary again and everything…

Regarding Just Flight Active Sky boxed version which I am using:-1) Once I have downloaded the latest weather from the internet and saved it in the appropriate file and then terminated my internet connection, then uploaded the saved downloaded files from the web into my FS2002, can I then close the Active Sky Wxre window, rather than minimise it, and still get the benefits of active weather like TAF processing for example? I prefer just having One Window at a time opened.2) Say for example that I used Active Sky for 5 days, therefore I downloaded Weather for each of those 5 days each and saved them to the appropriate files. Hi, I do like your program, But one thing really bugs me! It wont allow me to close the program when ive finished flying, it tells me wait till its downloaded the present weather, if I deliberately crash the program and come off-line, it automatically starts up and reconnects me to the web.When im flying, I have the program set to constanly update the weather, but surly the quit key should over ride any settings?1.8 betaNigel S

folks, how am I supposed to backup weather data? Let's assume I have the file cycle15Z.wxd with corresponding metar, taf and wind files. what I tried is to rename that file to e.g. cycle15Z_12apr03.wxd and all corresponding files, too, i.e. in this case e.g. taf15Z_12apr03.taf and so on. however, now I get error messages from wxRE telling me that there is a problem reading the offline wx files. how comes? Hello,I have just updated my ActiveSky from 1.15 to 1.7. All works fine (including FligthMax connection :+ !), I just have a few questions about Winds Aloft:The doc.s say that v. 1.17 needs the new international (*.wmo) format, and is not compatible with the former US *.fd format.Now, I have a collection of old "interesting" wx files which I'd still like to use. The release note says one can "manually edit your old ones to contain proper wind information" -- are there any practical guidelines for this somewhere (or even better: utilities?? :9 ) The structure of *.fd and *.wmo looks pretty different, it seems not a trivial task...And perhaps it is not even worth the hassle…

I just got v1.8 and downloaded 2 metar files and I'm getting 6SM again. Am I doing something wrong. Every single file I downloaded with v1.7 had vis at 6SM.Help, Please.Adam

I've been using Active Sky for a while and I like it loads. I mainly use it off line and set up to dump all of the "weather" files into an offline files directory so that I can use the files with FSFlightmax.Now for the weird bit. In the past six files have been generated:-cycle Xz (where X equals an hour of the day), metar Xz, taf Xz, winds Xz, exp-currmetar (generated by Active Aky when it kicks off), and wx-export. The system no longer downloads/generates the wx-metar file, which causes grief with the FSFlightmax (no radar weatherimages). Is this a known problem? How do I fix it? Thanks
