Hello,I noticed a significant difference between weather in online mode and offline.Positioned my aircraft at Rotterdam NL, EHRD, and in online i get the correct weather (Metar 180925z, TAF 180424z and winds aloft data from station WMO ID 06260, EHDB de Bilt in the Netherlands. Same position, same time of the day, I get in offline mode, metar from 180925z, TAF from 121027z and winds aloft data from WMO ID 10410, which is EDZE Essen in Germany, 100 Nm distance from EHRD.It is getting even more weird as I checked the winds08z.wmo (the cycle file for offline) and found no entry for 10410 but there was a entry for 06260. Don't know where the downloaded TAF is coming from but …

Hi DamianPlease see screenshot, shows an OAT at my crz fl of 370 of -61C, yet this is what Active Sky said I should be getting,[17903(5450):130/08/-28] [23061(7020):225/21/-39] [29401(8950):225/21/-49] [33343(10150):125/06/-50] [38172(11620):090/12/-49] [44348(13500):135/07/-52] [52921(16110):120/08/-55]These figures were the same for 4-5 mins, so I gave WX-RE enough time to correct itself, yet I should clearly have been getting -49C which is about spot on what the aloft wind charts forecast said. This happens almost all the time, very low cruise SAT's, which r…

For some reason a gremlin has disrupted my ActiveSky. It was working fine this afternoon and now I can't seem to get it working. I uninstalled 1.7/.8 and reinstalled 1.7 and still no luck. I am however getting FS Disconnected on the window title block when I open ActiveSky. I can't seem to get it to download the wx for my aircrafts location it keeps bringing up some DGGG or DGEE location 350 some odd miles away. Now, when I manualy input the airport code, it downloads the wx and displays it in the top section of the ActiveSky window but doesn't transfer the weather to Flight Sim. Confused,Scott

Hi Damian! Thanks for this update! Winds seems to be much more varying than before. Comparing with actual north atlantic forecasts your data are quiet exact.Howewer, after downloading the first set of weather data with version 1.7. I now repeatedly got time out errors, when coming to "yesterday winds". I can reach this NOAA homepage without difficulties. So, what could be missing?

Hi,Add this to the list: flight from KSLC to KFCA, actual Metar downloaded by Activesky has destination at KFCA with a ceiling at 7000 OC. Voice flightwatch reports KFCA ceiling at 26,500 ft. I doubled checked and Activesky reported that weather processing was complete (online mode). Waited ten minutes, double checked Activesky window, KFCA Metar still showing 7000 OC, voice still reports 26,500ft ceiling overcast.I was approxiamately 400 NM from KFCA when I initially tuned flightwatch. Destination force was of course checked. Upon landing at KFCA, I got out of my airplane, drove to the Flight Service station location, found the guy that mans flightwatch for A…

Im using v1.7 and am finding that when i land at an airport im not getting the correct surface winds until ive been down on ground for about 5 minutes after landing. For example: Approaching KFRG today the surface winds were supposed to be 260/15G21...i landed with winds about 280/32...after being down on ground for 5 minutes the winds eventually changed to the 260/15Shouldnt the winds have changed on approach once below 1,500agl?...or at least something along those lines?Any help much appreciatedThanksDave

I d/l'ed 1.8 because I couldn't download anything with 1.7 without timing out (optimized dialup, 56kbps = 52 kbps in practice). I promptly downloaded yesterday's (sunday's) 3pm est weather without incident. Today, I can't download anything. I'm sure it's internet traffic, etc. Whatever. My thoughts are that I only fly in the northeast. If I do stray from my O'hare to National border, it's to Denver, SFO or Orlando. Do I really need to download 5+ MB of winds? I know everyone else wants it, but can't I get a radio button to only download what I need? I wasn't downloading 5 megs of wind before, what's changed and can't I deselect it?Thanks.sg

Hello... when I first start up wxRE, I have to wait a while for it to do some kind of initialization. That includes getting the weather for DGAA (why, I don't know). During this time, the program is not responsive and it is not possible to get a wx briefing, for example. Could startup be speeded up by removing the DGAA weather download? Why not just make the program sit idle, waiting for a "GET" input or for FS2002 to startup?Cheers,Peter

Just wanted to say thanks for making Active Sky, real weather flying is now unbelievable :) I will never again fly using the default MS weather routines (except for a small period with MSFS Century of Flight while AS is updated for it :) ) Anyway, I was flying from KSEA to PHNL earlier and once I was starting my descent I checked the flightwatch voice report I was told winds were 600 at 16, jumped out to the desktop real quick and the actual text in the window said 060 at 16. What's up with that? I'm using 1.7 and noticed the same type of thing elsewhere in 1.6 and I think it was with that exact same 060 heading. Once I got closer to where I was definitely in my 100n…

Hi,I've upgraded this fine product from 1.15 to 1.7 and then 1.8. With 1.15 it worked fine, but since I've used 1.7 and then 1.8 I've got an error wich says: "cloud layer conflict in Metar, skipping transition". And an other thing is that the starting screen still says version 1.15? Is this normal? Looking forward to youte awnser.Greetings from Holland, Nick

I noticed this problem with FS2K2 since the new beta release. The problem has nothing to do with wxRE, I know, but I thought someone here could shed some light on it -- When I launch FS2K2 the system time and date are correct as long as the local date is the same date as GMT. However, if I launch FS2K2 at a time when the GMT date is different than the local date (this is a 6-hour period from 6PM MDT to midnight) the FS2K2 date is two days off from GMT and one day off from MDT - both are earlier than the GMT date (the times are correct). To add to the mystery, Windows system time and date are always correct, it is just FS2K2 that is incorrect and only during that 6-hour pe…

Today on a flight from DFW to LAX flightwatch reported KLAX surface winds surface from "six niner niner at five". Is Activesky using a new form of geometry now :) ? Also, nearing KLAX, surface destination report on flightwatch reverted to a nearby airport rather than my checked forced destination, KLAX. Note, I'm not confusing the ATIS report with destination report, ATIS seems to work fine. My destination rep only got messed up within about 50 miles of KLAX.Thanks.

I ahve read that there needs to be a certain setting for AdvDisplay to avoid communicaton problems with Activesky and FSUIPC. What are they other than just disabling AdvDisplay altogether? I am running the latest version of AdvDisplay right now but when it is activated, I don't get the winds as reported by Activesky v1.8 until I disable AdvDisplay. I use the online option of Activesky and fly online as well and hate seeing that stupid scrolling text. Any help would be welcome.

Hi,ESNN is not in the database wmo.txt file. Sometimes this will happen with new stations or stations that were previously reporting old or invalid data. (The actual download does not check the validity of the information received, it just requires that stations read are contained in wmo.txt). You can add the station to wmo.txt, the WMO ID is the second value on the 1 line (precede with 0 for 4 digit ones, to make it 5 digits). 02365 in this case. Just see the existing wmo.txt for format.Make sure this station's info is current and accurate. Some stations may be shut down or reporting data over several weeks old. You can try adding the station, running wxRE, then ex…

Hi Robin,It sounds like the update might have been installed to the wrong folder. It must be installed to the existing wxRE folder. Here's how to fix this:- Uninstall the update- Uninstall the base version- Install the base version (contact ecommerce vendor if you need a new download link)- Install the 1.7 update (not neccessary if you get a new download)Let me know how that works.. thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.…

I am trying to fly into Big Bear City, CA (KL35), a mountain airfield which is not a TAF/METAR reporting facility. The nearest facility is Ontario, CA, about 45 miles away, but at a significantly different altitude (944 ft MSL at KONT versus 6748 ft MSL at KL35). If I lock the destination at KONT, I am getting very strong winds on final and on the ground at Big Bear, presumably because the program is giving me winds aloft rather than surface winds, due to basing the winds off the elevation at KONT.Is there a way to make the program aware of KL35 and its elevation? What would adding the facility to the icao.txt file do if there is no TAF/METAR reporting there?RegardsBob

Hi allI've come across a funny little issue with V1.7. If I select aircraft fuel quantity before starting up WxRE, once it's up and running and I go back to my aircraft, the fuel tanks are full again. I do not consider this a problem, 'cos it's not too difficult to select the desired fuel level again, but was just wondering if anyone else had come across it.Apart from this insignificant little point, everything else is fine. Many thanks for the continuing service!Cheers!Gavin

I am trying to use Ver 1.7 on a flight in Alaska in offline mode. I am seeing extremely high air temps (verified by examination of the status page) of 20 deg C at FL200. In online mode, it works OK, but in offline mode, with two sets of data downloaded over 2 days, the temps are grossly in error. In the winds aloft window I see:WMO ID: 70350/ 235nm...[32686(9950):005/30/00]That looks to me like 0 deg C at FL327...is that 00 missing data being read as a temp of 0 perhaps?RegardsBob Scott

I use to fly transatlantic routes most often from Europe to the US/Canada (just nearing the Canadian coast on my way to KEWR on my other computer). I had a strong TAIL wind 80 degrees at 72, not changing direction or speed until about N5540 where it changed to 92 at 89. There is no variation at all, wind is just keeping steady over several hundred miles. I still use 1.6, but I had the same problem with 1.5. I use to fly offline with downloaded weather files. The wind aloft simulation window reads "wind aloft simulation ID distance 9999"I am bound to say that the "real weather" option of FS2002 at least gave me wind/direction variation and usually varying head winds when fl…
