Hi Damian, I updated to v1.6 a few days ago, used the fixed installer and all wass well. As of today I get a strange problem.When I start ASwxre as it starts downloading the weather the voice ATIS kickin and continues on repeating on and on. I don't have 122.00 tuned on my radios, I even shut the plane systems down but it keeps on repeating the ATIS messages. If I try to close or go to the option menu or whatever, the program stops responding and I have to shut it down with thw windows task manager. I use a live download option as I have ADSL connection and fly practically only on VATSIM. Any guesses? Even if it didn't stop responding it would be unusable with the voices …

This seemed to be happening only AFTER i upgraded to 1.6:When in on Final to any runway, opon calling tower the runway gets reversed...while im on final! EVERYTIME! On approach ill hear: Enter downwind left..instead of make strait in your clear..this never happend before 1.6. any way to fix this? anyone else having this VERY annoying problem?..thanksThe baron

Hi... just want to say I bought Activesky WXre a couple days ago and it is working very well. Flew CYGK to CYYZ and FS2002 ATC vectored me to the correct runway and didn't change runways while I was on final! The force feature did the trick.Two minor gotchas:1. as it says in the manual, the first time you start wxre, do it before starting FS2002 so that you can get it all setup and click away the first-time-use popups.2. I placed a shortcut in TotalCommander (a windows GUI) and found out that wxre needs the start path set or it will complain of an inaccessible wxre.ini file.I find the flightwatch voice quality on 122.0 quite distorted and of low volume. Just started to use Active Sky and I seem to have a problem with voice.My setup:computer 1: FS2002computer 2: Wide FS, Active Skyall works great, and I get the weather by voice on the second computerIf I add Squawkbox and Roger Wilco to the second computer (i.e.: if I start both programs) then the metar voice stops. Well, after hours of trying to get the new winds aloft feature and FS Flight Max cycle files download to work with version 1.6, frustration has now taken over and I will be going back to Active Sky Wxre version 1.15.Prior to upgrading (via a clean install of version 1.6) everything was working just fine with Active Sky Wxre version 1.15. All the metar information, winds aloft, and FS Flight Max cycle files downloaded just fine. With version 1.6, the winds aloft only download 10 % of the time. Most of the time I get the time-out error message (will try next interval) and then NO cycle files download for FS Flightmax.So until something is done to fix these issues, its back…

I posted this occurance a few weeks ago and have been monitoring it since then. Essentially I experience thunderstorms while flying oer St Pierre between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.This is the most recent data I recorded but have experienced this on a regular basis. Does anyone know where I can get data about which stations are being used to update winds aloft in Europe? At EGLL it tells me I'm using WMO ID: 03882 but of course this means absolutely nothing to me.... :)Any suggestions?Thanks,Tom

I've done 6 or 7 trips with the new ActiveSky WXre v1.6 but found some problems regarding to the winds readback. For the METAR:KLGA 171451Z 06007KT 10SM BKN044 BKN075 12/04 A2985 RMK AO2 SLP109 T01170044 55001 $FlightWatch said "winds six zero zero at seven". As for another trip, FlightWatch said "winds zero zero zero at zero" what should be said "winds calm".Another problem is that FlightWatch plays PC Speaker beeps in place of saying some letters and numbers! Also, it keeps speaking too much time after switching COM1 back to another frequency (sometimes one or two whole cycles of weather information). Best regards,Jalok

Hello!I upgraded to Active Sky Wxre version 1.6 today and am having a bit of a problem.If I use Active Sky without Flight Simulator 2002 Pro running, Active Sky will download all the weather files and cycle files for FS Flight Max (version 1.4R).However, when Flight Simulator is running and I go to Active Sky, it downloads the METAR reports for the departure and destination airport but not the winds or the cycle files for FS Flight Max.I un-installed Active Sky and re-installed it, but I had the same problem.Active sky will NOT even attempt to download the cycle files for FS Flight Max when Flight Simulator is running. I just installed V1.6 and cannot get winds aloft to download. I get either a "timeout" or "bad aloft data/timeout" message. I tried this at SAN, LAX, and SFO.I went to the aviationweather.gov web site and was able to download the winds aloft for the entire pacific coast without any problems or delays.The metar data is getting downloaded fine, as is TAF data.The Winds Aloft portion of the display reads:Winds Aloft Initializing ...Any ideas that I might try.-michael

Hi DamianI've found some puzzling behaviour when WxRE is started up....FS2002 running, then WxRE started. 1. WxRE detects the nearest wx station correctly. It then displays (for about 1-2 mins): "Downloading additional winds data" "METAR report initializing" and "Winds aloft initializing"2. Eventually, a Winds Aloft string is presented, and WxRE shows "Weather processing complete"BUT... METAR data still shows "initializing" and the TAF field still shows "Please wait for processing to complete before continuing..." Since I have had to install v.201 of ADVdisplay for wxRE 1.6 to work properly, I cannot get the advdisplay window to disappear when I switch views in the cockpit. I use DreamFleet 734 and I like to put my window on the panel and when I switch to overhead the ADVdisplay window does not disappear anymore and it covers up part of my overhead panel. With v1.97. it would automatically disappear until I returned to the main panel and it would reappear. I could also set ADVdisplay behind the AFAS window and as soon as I opened the AFAS panel, ADVdisplay would disappear.I have tried docking and redocking to no avail. Unfortunately with v201 AdVdisplay ALWAYS remains on top. What …

Hi,I've had ActiveSky WX for a while now. It was working great until I updated to v1.6. I don't know why, but now the program cannot download METARs, TAFs or winds aloft. vis in FS drops immediately to 1/8 mile or so. On top of that I cannot access most of the buttons at the bottom, it says that I have to wait for downloads to complete. It tells my that there is no usable wind data, trying another station and that it will try on next interval, then it says something about the METAR cloud layer conflict skipping transition. It used to work before, now all I get are these problems with the hourglass always showing. Any help is appreciated.Regards,Andy CecchettiKCMH

Hello Damian, JimI hope you can help me with the visible result of below METAR found in the screenshot. Visibility is set to 10 which reads as unlimited if I'm right. In real life (now :-)) the sky is abolute clear and bright blue. How come the weather resulting in FS2002 after processing the METAR is this different? See the cockpit screenshot from a PSS A320. Could this be caused by ExtendMetarMaxVis=Yes in FSUIPC.INI? Or can this be caused by misinterpreting the variable winds section (050V120) in the METAR? This was reported as a bug in this forum some time ago, confirmed by you guys. Did the fix for this make it in the v1.6 release? If not, I would very much appreciat…

The manual says 60nm is default but the program came with 80nm which I left it at. After being vectored in for landing and descent on 16R on a flight from KSEA to KSMF FS2002's ATC vectored me in too close to the airport to properly intercept the localizer before the glideslope started descending and I ended up going around, I barely got through on the next attempt where the G/S started descending again but much closer to localizer intercept so I was able to flip to LOC and back to APPR mode on my Phoenix A320 without it's autopilot flipping out (usually if you don't have LOC intercept before the G/S descends below you, you're in trouble). In this moment, I'm a user of ActiveSky 1.5 and I have to say that for a freeware product it's very good. I'm convinced that ActiveSky WxRE is much better.I'm aware that the features on the freeware version are not even close to the pay version, and that WxRE has less impact in the sim/computer performance. But, I would like to know if after getting WxRE I will still experiencing stutters like I'm having right now with the freeware, I only get this stutters each time ActiveSky updates the weather and sometimes (specially in approaches) can be very annoy…

Now, I no longer understand them.I have searched the User Guide and can see nothing about this new format. And I have searched the FAQs. Nothing!Would someone please enlighten me? Hi DamianLet me first thank you for this superb update! IThis program is getting better and better! :-)Some questions have been raised though. First, when the voice METAR reads pressure she says "altimeter" and the pressure in inches Hg even if the pressure is reported as "qnh". I saw there was a file called qnh.vaw in the voice folders so I assumed, maybe hastily, that when reporting qnh the voice METAR also says "qnh". Is it supposed to say "qnh"?Second, in the winds aloft window you see the WMO-ID but you wont see a ICAO ID. Is this by design? I looked in the wmo.txt and found a lot of entries depicted by 9999. Hi Damian,Thanks for the update V1.6! Should be really great!I seem to be having a bit of an issue with the winds aloft feature now. I parked myself at 3 Canadian airports (each greater than 500 nm from the USA) and received only the following in the Winds Aloft window: (Simulated) ID: OFFLINE DIST: 9999. There were no winds depicted, just that message only. I then went to Boston and tried it there, but still got the same message and no winds aloft. Is there a switch I need to throw or haven't thrown? I disabled the "Winds Aloft Simulation" after not getting any readings, but still got the same message. Any suggestions?Thanks Damian :-)Glenn
