Hi all,If you have had any problems with wxRE not updating weather (including winds aloft and aloft/surface transitions) properly, FSUIPC v2.972 is confirmed to solve this. Please download the latest FSUIPC by Peter Dowson from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html.Thanks Peter!!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Hey Damian,I'm trying to reproduce/duplicate the problem that Dykes was seeing in respect to not having low clouds in the USA. What I'm trying to do is to write a custom METAR so that I can get a low cloud deck without searching half the reports for the US. What I did was (using OFFLINE mode) to download the 16Z (in the window) wx, which of course creates the cycle15Z.wxd file. I found that in wxRE's main folder, and used Notepad to modify the report for KBUF. I then saved the file and closed wxRE. Next I opened FS and went to KBUF and set the time to 16:00Z and cleared all weather. Then I loaded wxRE and selected the 15Z.wxd file and let it load. The report given …

Hi Everyone!Things have been very busy around here, getting the new v1.1 update ready. I have also had some computer problems and some unexpected long hours at work that have delayed things a little bit but we are back on track now. Most issues reported have been resolved in v1.1, which is pending beta test and release later this week. I have also almost complete the international winds aloft but this MAY or MAY NOT make it for v1.1 - Regardless, v1.2 is scheduled right behind v1.1 (by about 2 weeks) and will include full winds aloft (if not done by v1.1) and some new features that will be announced shortly. Thanks all!-Damian[table border=0" cellspacing="30" cellpadding=…

I have had the problem of upper winds being applied all theway to the runway, then suddenly go to 1 knot or so. I readsomewhere where this was a fsuipc communications problem. Cananyone tell me how to deal with this condition? Thanx

I get the above error message whenever I start wxRe (1.15). I have reinstalled/repaired/deleted the wx.ini file and every other "trick" I could think of...but to no avail. The error message persists... Also, whenever I start wxRe before FS2002, the "Active Wx Station" always shows DGAA..... almost like it is hardcoded, since I can't get rid of that either.Any suggestions? Hello everyone, v1.15 is released and fixes problems with zero visibility, Italian time processing, cycle download completeness, and adds an option to prevent wind updates during FORCE (for consistent landing runway with FS ATC usage). The update is available free for all v1.x users. Download from: http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/downloads.htm v1.2 release, with several new features including full international winds aloft, is estimated first half of February. Thanks to the BETA TEAM and all ActiveSky wxRE users for their support, input and assistance with future development! -Damian

Damian ClarkHiF…

Hello,I have been using the standard FS weather system for a long time now. Then, a few days ago I downloaded ActiveSky and tried it. But then again I red and saw on the ActiveSky page that there is a version called ActiveSky wxRE? I am really interested so could anyone tell me the difference between those two?Thank youMatthias

Just curious, I LOVE Active Sky very much, and is so much better than FS_METEO but the one thing that I did like about FS_METEO was the weather gauge, that translated the Metar's into plain english, so that you could figure out what the weather is where your at, and where you are going, including the temperature, in F or C. Reading metars if fine, but the key feature I really miss from the gauge, and am the most interested in is the temperature. As I am sure we all know, the temp gauges on panels, are not all that accurate, and shift + Z will give you wind direction and speed, and all kinds of info, EXCEPT the temperature. :-) So what I would like to see, IF possibl…

I'm trying to decide what to purchase- FSMETEO or Active Sky. If you can tell me which one is more realistic, I read both of the sites of each but haven't found any screenshots of the actual weather produced from Active Sky. However I found FSMETEO's weather producing pictures, but haven't seen Active Sky's. If anyone could help me in this decision, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Damian - Using paid version - all is well but have simple question. When I clear all wx in FS2002 and refresh Wx - the winds aloft in the Wx dialog stay the same. If I highlight the data in the winds aloft box and delete it and then refresh - I get new winds aloft data closer to the reporting station. Not a problem but just wondered if this is the proper method.Thanx,Vic Baron

Sometimes (at irregular intervals, I've not been able to get a reproducable scenario) ActiveSky will start eating up CPU time.Slowly it rises from the normal one or two percent to using 98% CPU time, freezing solid (and slowing FS2002 to a crawl of course). The only way to kill it is through the taskmanager.Running Win2K Pro, latest patchlevel. PIV-1.6 with 1024MB RAM and 1MB ADSL connection.

Hi Damian,Have recently purchased your program & so far have not had a great deal of time to get used to it so I am hoping you can solve a possible problem I am having. It appears that despite downloading the current weather OK ASWXRE is not sending the TAF info to FS. I have set my UTC conversion, FSUIPC & selected use TAF settings as per the manual but despite trying numerous locations with TAFs showing different weather patterns at different times the only weather appearing is the METAR. I have also tried re installing the program but this has not solved the problem.Any suggestions?Rossco

During a flight with ASky offline mode I noticed that the ASky main window metar reported rain at the airport I was located, while in the wx-export.met and in the other .met files rain was not reported. Now, since FSFlightmax reads the wx-export.met file, there were no returns in it, even if outside it was raining. This did not change even after half an hour.Any ides? Thanks,JamesLIRF

Hello,I just noticed a problem I am having. Sitting at MSP Active sky is reporting 10SM but when I check the weather setting in fs2002 it shows 20mi visbility and won't seem to sync in with Active sky. I am using version 1.15.Thanks,Peter

Had a real lousy flight today! Kind of broke the straw. Activesky and RC3 combination (latest versions) just do not work properly together. Frequent altimeter calls from RC3, tried my flight twice both with on line and offline files. Both times the result the same, on approach, frequent chastisement from RC3 on maintaining alt, RC3 just can't see what ActiveSky is reporting. Hitting the barometer key gave me mixed results. RC3 was seeing the same altimeter settings I was but on alt-tabbing out I see the Active sky settings as different and RC3 is not picking it up. Very frustrating! Think I'll dump the ASKy program. I've been fighting Active Sky, Flight Max Remote, RC2 an…

Hi,I'm (or was) a fs_meteo user, I just moved to activesky wxre and I'm quite impressed with the results.I have some questions:1- I can see some hard edges in clouds when I'm on ground, like if the cloud is being drawed line by line, any idea ?2- Activesky sends turbulence info to fsuipc ? how it is handled ??3- When requesting wx briefing I get a long winds aloft list and if I print I get 4 pages of wind aloft, is there a way to turn the wind aloft off for printing ???Thanks a lot,Ulisses Simionato

I just reloaded AS wxRE 1.15 and seem to be having a bit of a problem. On most of my flights now, FS doesn't seem to be "getting the word" at the destination aerodrome for the wx listed there. Two examples are: 1) Flight from Ft. Yukon, Alaska to Anchorage, the wx was called as BKN005 SCT140 and winds of 02005. Instead I had 20,000 SCT and fairly strong winds out of the northwest. 2) Flight from Anchorage to Bettles. Instead of the winds being 29005 at Bettles (as was given in the report), I had 315 at 15, which is what I had at altitude. Those winds seemed to follow me all the way down, and I never got the correct winds at field level (FL was 643 ft). Any thoug…

Hey Guys can't figure this out. I've been using 1.15 for sometime now, no problems. All of the sudden it will not process METAR which I guess is what 2002 gets the weather from. I am using FSUPIC 2.96 and have not done anything diffrent to my machine. It worked Saturday and has not worked since. Any help as always is helpfulhttp://home.swbell.net/vollmerd/Image_2003...1747.33.453.bmpThanksVollmey

Hi there, I have been trying desperately to get this program activesky v1.5,freeware version, to run with no success.I used the auto set up function with the file to install the program, after minimizing my simulator, with all weather cleared, I go to either my desktop or my start menu and start the program... a window pops up saying "error reading icao.txt or fswinds.txt-make sure they exist or are valid"these files are included in the program, but for some reason they are having problems. If someone can please help me to get this program running. Also, how do I get rid of the band of blue sky between the ground and the clouds when the weather is set for over cast conditi…
