Hi! I'm gettin this message when I start or refresh ASwxre. It happends when i'm using Vatsim weather source. Not always but very often. The strange part is that ServInfo that uses the same source works without probs. Is it me who has missed something? My settings:http://www.gavle.to/~anders.eriksson/sky.jpg

I just did a landing at KMDW Conditions: 060 @ 12 G to 22.On final the plane was almost uncontrolable. I was flying the PSS Dash-8. Now for some reason MS ATC had me landing on 13C. With the surface winds, the runway should have been runway 4.I was on APP as far as the A/P was concerned. A/P was unable to hold Glide Slope. So I had to disengauge the A/P and manually land it. It was like riding a bucking bronco. On final it was blowing me all over the place. No other planes in front of me on final, so no wake turbulance..Is this realistic with these conditions? It seems like Active Sky is magnifying or intensifying the real conditions.Barry

DamianI use a two monitor system. The right hand monitor usually has ActiveSkyWX RE, the GPS gauge, and frequently other gauges. Everytime I start Active WxRE, I have to manually drag the Active wxRE VB Form to the right monitor and adjust it's position until I can see the current metar peeking through the other gauges. In a future update, would you please throw in an option to save the current screen position of Active wxRE from one execution to another? You could simply save the screen position each time or add a check box option somewhere for those of us that would like the wxRE Form to appear on the same monitor and at the same screen position on that monitor as…

If you want several programs to execute when you start FS2002, you can add a section to FSUIPC.ini (This file is in your FS2002/Modules folder). If the section is not part of your FSUIPC.ini file, then add it with a text editor such as note pad. Note that the < and > should be replaced with left and right square brackets. (Lower case { and } )The addition looks like this in my .ini :(Change the < > to square brackets. AVSIM system eats square brackets)Run1=D:FS Flight TrackerFlightTracker.exeRun2=D:ActiveSky wxREwxRE.exeUp to eight programs can be executed at the same time as FS2002 according to the documentation in Flight Tracker 6.0.FYILarry

I've just downloaded the program and did all the configs. Everything looks OK, the system gets the metars but nothing shows up in FS2002. I've tried online, offline, fs running, not running with the same result. The MSFS weather screen shows the MS default weather but wxRE shows the real weather. I've double checked all the config buttons and all seem fine. Obviously I missed something along the way. I have a Dell Pentium 4, 2ghz, 256k RAM, XP Home. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Tom

hello there, I have been trying desperately to get this program activesky v1.5, to run with no success.I used the auto set up function with the file to install the program, after minimizing my simulator, with all weather cleared, I go to either my desktop or my start menu and start the program... a window pops up saying "error reading icao.txt or fswinds.txt-make sure they exist or are valid"these files are included in the program, but for some reason they are having problems. If someone can please help me to get this program running. Also, how do I get rid of the band of blue sky between the ground and the clouds when the weather is set for over cast conditions. This ba…

Pete Dowson has just released version 2.00 of AdvDisp. It allows you to leave single-line scrolling messages such as ActiveSky's wx reports to remain on the original scrolling bar in FS2002, while multi-line stuff like Radar Contact goes to the AdvDisp window. That way you get to see both.Available at: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlCheersBob(transplanted from Radar Contact forum)Here is the new features!1. An option is provided to capture "multi-line" messages only-that is those messages that deliberately contain "new line" codes (ASCII 10 or 13) in order to format text onto more than one line. Other messages which do not contain such formatting are left to be dis…

Hi DamienI am running ASWXRE 1.15 (full version) and fs2k2. I am having the same problem as was referred to in a previous thread (No visibility) where despite the nearest metar showing 30KM as the visibility, AS WXRE has wound the visibility down to 0 (1/8).Attached are some screenshots...

I need to ask a question,i have tried to install activsky on my system and cannot get it to run properly,it does show up in my sim on the menu--modules taskbar, and i can make changes to the program, the problem is that when i clear all weather, minimize my sim,and run activesky,a window pops up saying"error reading icao.txt or fswinds.txt, make sure they exist and are valid"What does this mean?Do i need to put theese files into a particular folder?By the way, they do exist, they were in the zipfile i download. What do i do?ThanxOn a non related topic, how do i get rid of the blue band of sky between ground and sky when cloud cover is set for overcast conditions? This is very anno…

Hi, Damian: "Option settings" in ASky does not appear to be saving my UTC zone correctly. I'm at CYEG which is -7 hours. If I leave the UTC blank as suggested, I doesn't appear to be setting CYEG (Edmonton, Canada) at -7 UTC. I just tried again leaving the UTC set blank and I get 18 hrs UTC? That's a 6 hr difference if it's referring to a 24Hr clock isn't it? :-shyIf I set -7, I still get 18 hrs UTC. :~P What's the process I'm missing here? Thanks,Fsky ver 1.15 (Remote PC) - everything else appears to be working just fine except for Radar which has some hiccups. :7 Ron McLeod CYEG

Sorry, but I've searched the forum and couldn't find any answer to my problem. I use the freeware version of active sky (1.5) ..on approach to some airports, everytime to ESMS, Active sky seems to give up on me and I get everything to zero. NO visibility, nothing. The first times I thought it just was bad weather but that isn't the case. Has any other one experienced this?/Stefan

Hi,Great product, along with 767PIC the best purchase i've made for FS.One question though, i've been using it for quite a while now and what is really starting to bother me are the auto metar stations(AWS).I have wxre set to update every 15 minutes and 'update metar on new station' is not on. But a lot of times i find mysef near an auto metar station when activesky gets it's new metar. And auto metar stations just report a few basic variables and it's not by far as complete/detailed as the normal metar from for example large airports. So me weather goes from a good representation of the real situation to something completely different because of all the variables missing…

I am using v1.5 of the freeware version of activesky. I have noticed that the visibility near the ground is always very low. The METAR station reports the vis as 9999 meters all the time. I did some reading and figured out that this is the limit of the METAR, I also read that there is a setting in FSUIPC that will fix this, namely the extend METAR data. I have it checked but the visibility is still always very low. If someone could please tell me how to implement a fix for this I would be greatful. Thanks in advance

Damien, I'm running ActiveSky on a remote PC (Win2KPro). The host likewise runs Win2KPro and houses FS2002. I'm seeing three files in the FS2002 modules folder: 03012405.ALO, 03012405.DAT, and 03012405.METAre there specific files passed by FSFlightMAX from the remote PC to the FS2002 host? Or are they ActiveSky files? What IS loaded by the host? OR is everything left on the Remote PC where ActiveSky resides? Thanks for the help. :-zhelpRon McLeod CYEG

Hello Damian,Maby I nice idea for the future: 'Why not integrate a 'text to speech engine' in WXre to encrypt the METAR code for us like a reallive ATIS station! :)Here a good example how things goes:http://www10.brinkster.com/vmetar/Bestvortovor

Or more appropriately, how do we know which is the 'right' one?Puzzled, Adam

Hello Damian,Can you please explain? Is it usefull to let WXre (Online Mode) update the weather every 5 minutes or less?Because in my wisdom ;) the NOAA updatecyle is aprox ones a +/- 30 minutes and sometime's one's a hour!...I'm not sure about the VATSIM server?Where's VATSIM getting his weather from and IVAO?.....NOAA servers? (maby you can tell us?)I do not even know where WXRe getting his weather from..NOAA? :)Also, is it usefull to let FSFlightMax having its update every 5 minutes or less?......in my opinion 5 minutes or les is no use!....Can someone fly 400/500NM in 5 minutes?...please explain Damian, its is very important for everyone I think! In other words:'what ar…

Hi,I have a problem concerning integration of ActiveSky 1.15 (offline mode) with FsFlightmax (1.4 pr1); I have already posted in the FsFlightmax forum. It seems that FsFlightmax loads the weather situation (I guess from the file wx-export.met) just at the beginning and in the area around the airport, then no more updates, at least as to the weather returns.I did this test: I took off from an airport with rain and I got lots of returns in that area. I then flew to a clear zone and all returns disappeared. I then went to a new rainy area and no more returns appeared on my screen. The only way to have the returns concerning that area was by going to the FS weather menu and cl…

Hi Damian,I've been trying out different weather with v1.15 by setting the "force range" to a very high figure, checking the destination/force field, and entering ICAO codes for "interesting" weather.I've noticed something odd where the weather doesn't change to the new ICAO code. After the new METAR/TAF data is downloaded, the text on the main screen "Active Wx Station XXXX / x nm" updates to correctly show the new ICAO code. BUT the field below this which shows which Wx is being used doesn't update and shows wx for the previous ICAO code (and so the FS2002 wx doesn't change)Is there a small bug in the way this field is updated?Great product!Andy
