In an earlier post you mentioned that you were working on a new cloud texture set that was being designed to "trick" FS and make transitions a bit smoother. I'm getting quick changes and I believe my settings are all correct. Most of my flying is above FL300 and this is where I find it most noticeable. It was very shifty tonight on descent as well - changing rapidly from few to broken. I do have update on station unchecked. My update interval is set at 15 min. I'm going to try different values on this one.Are you still working on this cloud texture?Thanks a lot, Adam

Hi Damian, I lost my HDD due to the w32opaservek worm virus and all ref's to ActiveSky including my key code. What's the policy regarding getting another copy? All I have of course is the VISA debit from emetrix.I'm not planning on installing it right away as I'm having serious performance isssues with my system after in stalling the new HDD and WinMe. Hi everyone !Before I take the plunge, I'm very interested in the offline possibilities of the software (no internet connection at home, only at my office). Is it possible to download a METAR file (.txt format) on the NOAA site, and transfer it on a floppy into my home PC, where it can be converted into a .wxd file ?In the documentation, an "offline file reference chapter" is mentioned, but I haven't found it. Is there a way to resolve the conflict with the messages in Radar Contact v3 that a displayed in the Adv Display? I see the Active Sky messages partially and briefly but RCv3 takes over the Adv Display before I can really read them.Robert Fisher

I have been messing around downloading new wx files into the ActiveSkydirectory overwriting the files that are there and then copying them into a new directory with the relevent date.Now all I do is create a new folder in the ActiveSky directory naming it with todays date, start up ActiveSky and in the 'Select your off line folder' window select the new folder and then when you Auto Download the files go straight into that jolly ole new dated folder. So just create a new folder before each days downloading and pop the little new lovelys into it. i've been seeing excessive overspeeds on my flights lately. i originally thought there was something wrong with a config file in the specific aircraft but i have seen this in several aircraft now. the only way i can avoid the overspeeding is by taking off the auto throttle. the minute i put it back on...zoom....away we go.my question regarding activesky is this.....this started to happen right around the time i installed activesky. i read a posting in another forum that stated this could be caused by having Simulated Winds Aloft checked...that when the wind direction changed this user experienced overspeeding. one of my recent flights was going fine....at altitude,…

Hi Damien,Since John Hnidec released FSFlightMax V1.4 most of us haveing been trying it out to see if it would restore radar returns which some of us having not had for a while.Prompted by a post by Techazoid in the FSFM forum I decided to try ActiveSky and FSFM again, below are my observations; these have also been posted in the FSFM forum.Using www.awfulweather.com I located a thunderstorm at SGAS, the METAR was some 2 hours old.Started FS and went to SGAS, started ActiveSky and sure enough I was surrounded by heavy rain and lightning.Started FSFM, made sure ActiveSky option was on and switched on the radar and waited, and waited, and waited - no returns.Now to the prob…

Hello,i have installed ActiveSky under the XP Adminsitrator context. And in this context everything works fine. But when I use my special Flightsim user context (which has also administrator rights) I have a strange effect.When I start clicking the ActiveSky button, first the Windows Installer Programm for MS Office comes up, then ActiveSky tries to start, but it stops at the initialisation intro.Any idea ?RegardsThomas

G'Day.My computer had to be formatted 2 days ago, I lost everything on the HD including Active Sky wxRE. I wasnt able to save it as I couldnt get into windows. Im just woundering what my options are.Cheers

Damian,Everything was working great, when all of a sudden I encountered some issues that I cannot solve (Run-time error 9 when online / Download Timeout offline with Cable modem). I feel the only option left is to remove and re-install the program.Is there any specific advice on removal of the program, perhaps procedures that I need to follow ? Or can I just use windows add/remove to uninstall and then do a fresh install from download ?Thanks,Roger

Hi there again chaps,I am really starting to like this super program now.I have a full 24 hours worth of wx cycle files now in my ActiveSky directory and I was wondering if I start with 01Z will it, after the first hour, automatically switch to 02Z and so on OR do I have to manual select 02Z and then refresh.Would be great if it did it automatically!!!!ta ta for nowRichard

Hello, I run XP Pro, 1Gbyte memory, Pentium 2.4, GF4 TI 4600 128 Mb, FS2002 PRO.First of all ActiveSky is a GREAT product. I have observed that when ActiveSky "processes" a METAR my FPS drops from 40 to 10-13 FPS (depending , I think, on the clouds defined in SkyWorld)and this for 5 to 10 seconds, sometime more.How can I improve the performance on my PC or ActiveSky to avoid the drop of FPS?Emile EBBR

All day I haven't been able to download winds aloft, either online or offline.Is there an alternative source? I think FS Meteo uses at least 2 sources in case one is down.Cheers,Eric

Okay folks, I have nailed down the problem, and a workaround solution...Problem: the METARs being exported to FlightMax are outdated, as has been confirmed by others in this forum and the FlightMax forum.After fiddling with my UTC conversion, and every other imaginable setting, I found that the date and time of the exported METAR information coincided with my last Offline weather download's time. For some reason, ActiveSky (even when set to Online/Live mode) is using the most recent offline file's time/date to determine the time/date for the exported METAR information.A simple workaround is to simply download an offline file every hour on the hour (so it is always kept at…
