I downloaded the ActiveSky V1.5 for the FS2002 and I am confused as to if the V1.15 update is designed for this version of ActiceSky. When I ty to install it, I get a message saying thatgI first need to install any version ActiveSky.I like the way ActiveSky works/looks over the default weather in FS2002 but the constant pausing of the simulation while the new weather is loading while on approach is bugging me. My computer is not all that slow as it is a P4 2.2GHz with 512 Mb of 2700DDR memory and a GeForce 4600. Also the fact that ATC starts me toward one runway and then will change runways just prior to touchdown. Is there a way to set the program up to "Not" decide at t…

I have a couple of questions about time in ActiveSky WxRE:Let's say that I've set my FS time at 10:00 UTC and real world time is 19:00 UTC. How should I set up ActiveSky to get realistic weather? I noticed that in online/live mode always the latest available METAR is used, no matter what the FS time is. It would be unrealistic to fly with weather that is 9 hours later since for example temperatures at morning are usually very different from those in the evening. So should I use offline mode instead, and disable TAF?The same is true for seasonal changes. If it's winter, but I want to fly in summer, using online mode would be unrealistic. But what if I don't have any METAR …

I was on Final Approach in the Dash 8 and there was a AI Plane on the runway which took off. Man did I get hit with wake turbulance. My question is regarding Wake Turbulance..Can it make the aircraft uncontrollable? I understand getting bumped and rocked a little. But, I had a hard time controlling the aircraft on final, especially using the Ailerons. It seemed like a strong continuous GUST instead of wake turbulence. Also I am flying along about FL 160 and all of sudden I get knocked off course with a cross wind?In real life in a plane that size (Dash-8) I have encountered turbulence but not any type of wind force that severe. Is ActiveSky not correctly managing these fo…

I have the free version of Activesky 1.5 and find I always have very limited views, even when it is fine. All I get is a foggy view, and going to the weather settings in FS2002 and looking at the visablity it says something like 3.4 kilometers or something like this. All I know it is allways a foggy view.Don't have this problem with FSmeteo

Before installing update 1.15 I had very weird problems with Fs2002. Autogen not loading and very blurry textures! With fps around 3/10! But after installing the update averything is fixed, I have my old fps back (20/50) :-) And Im very happy with Activesky, In fact I love :-) it! Very realistic.Greetz,Sonny Boy Lokhoff

Hello HelloI just purchased ActiveSky today 30 minutes or so ago and installed, and installed again the new patch.(I use automatic updates since I have broadband)A problem; I fly in Hawaii. After lifting of in my 177 Cardinal runway 8R with a clear blue sky around the Honolulu I climb for about 30 seconds and the weather suddenly change to rain and almost fog just 30 seconds or so into the climb. Question nr 1 offcourse is what reporting stations are there in the area, and nr 2 how can they report such varied weather for such a small geographic difference in area. The weather does what it is suppose to. I naturally went out to windows to see in the ActiveSky panel if what…

Hi Damian,I just tried version 1.15, and got a strange visual effect which I haven't seen before in previous versions...In scattered cloud conditions (I haven't tried others), as the view is panned around, the clouds are being cut away with a straight edge. Difficult to describe, the effect is quite subtle and doesn't seem to apply to all cloud layers. I'm assuming it has been introduced by v1.15 as I've never noticed it before. But you never know, maybe I never had quite the right conditions :-)RegardsJon

Damian did not ask me to post this (in fact, he could have been quite upset by my original post on this matter, but to his credit he simply tried to solve my problem rather than gripe about this :-) ).I've got to be more careful about what I definitively call a bug. For those of you who were following my earlier post with the subject, "This one IS a bug..." you'll know that Damian and I have figured out that in fact, Active Sky wxRE was just doing it's job. It was being confused by 2 nearby NOAA stations that did not give out valid METAR's, but in the end it was still coming up with the right station. I didn't understand the innerworkings of the program so that to me i…

OK, one more time with feeling :-).Pertaining to my last post about "...NOAA, not AS", it would seem I have actually uncovered a bug in the process. I did some digging into the METAR files to see if I could manually change the METAR within, and something really strange appeared. There was no listing for CWAU or CWMS in any METAR file anywhere (I searched the metar17z.MET file which is what I had downloaded, and then the expmetar15z.met file which I was using as online live). So, I closed AS, then restarted FS2002 and cleared all it's weather, then recalled AS. I had the "Offline" option selected, and redownloaded the 17Z report. I did a "Save" and went to the main sc…

I have the upgrade but apparently I was using fsuipc 2.94 with ActiveSky V1.0. Now after installing the 1.1 upgrade(which requires fsuipc 2.95)I get a lot of pausesstutters. I've done my best to try to isolate this including going back to fsuipc 2.94 and ActiveSky v1.0. This seems to have calmed things down a bit. I will do further testing but just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced the "stutters"(above the usual)since installing fsuipc 2.95ActiveSky v1.1. BTW I recall a previous versions of fsuipc causing this in some cases.thanks

I live in San Diego and I use KSAN as my hone base while using FS2002 and Active Sky wxRE. I nearly always get zero visibility and it's not that way here nor has it been for 4 days. It seems evertwhere I go has ground fog and zero vis. Something is not right in Active Sky, any suggestions?Thank you,Len

Hi Damian,May I just say... So far so good!! I have converted from FSMeteo (sorry Marc!) but I will add that at the moment the only additional feature I benefit from is the wake turbulence :) Kewl!OK, just downloaded the v1.1 update. Oh, bit of background - Win2000 SP4 running FS2002/fsuipc/wideFSServer on PC1 /-/ WideFSClient/ASky wxRE/flightmax etc on PC2 TCP/IP connected. When I try to install the update on PC2 I get an error message. I am assuming it is a MSI error as I do get the installShield wizard pop up but this is overlaid with an active error message titled "ActiveSky wxRE 1.0 to 1.1 Update Installer Information"The error message reads:"Error 1606: Could not acc…

Hi all,Here is the link for FSFlightMax v1.4 (pre-release1) update: http://www.fsflightmax.com/downloads/beta/fmax14pr1.zipThis will enable radar returns with ActiveSky wxRE v1.1+You will also need to setup your FSFLIGHTMAX.INI file to include:[ActiveSky]ActiveSkyActive=1ActiveSkyDirectory=C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREAdjust the directory for your actual Export folder as defined in wxRE options. Remember that you need a trailing at the end of this in the FSFLIGHTMAX.INI folder.A known issue is that SNOW will not show on the radar. FSFlightMax v1.4 Pre-release 2 will include this support, which should be available very soon.If anyone has problems getting radar to work,…

I run two monitors. I normally have FSNav up and running on the 2nd. When I click on FSNav I notice that the clouds in FS2K2 when running wxRE "sock" in and then clear up again in about 2 seconds. Any way to clear this up that you may know of?http://www3.telus.net/dport1/Radar_small.gifRC3 - Just gotta' have it!http://www3.telus.net/dport1/Radar_small.gifhttp://www3.telus.net/dport1/dansig.jpg

Maybe its this cold that's making my brain thicker than usual but for the life of me I cannot figure how to link ActiveSky to FlightMax. Have installed Update 1.1 and according to ActiveSky documentation there should be reference in FlightMax.ini file to set it to the same folder as ActiveSky (which is on my installation the following D:FS ApplicationsActiveSky ) but I see no reference to it? I do see reference to FS Directory = and reference to [FSMeteo].Should I edit this ini file and set one up myself and if so what would be the format of the entry. Any help appreciated.bgoodwin

Hello Damian,Over here in a new block we do not have an ADSL connection. We allready have glass fiber for the future , but that does not work with ADSL.When having set wxRX and then push Auto-Download immediately there is an error message that says : Error or time-out downloading cycles. This is the first time I have started to use the programm ( also it is 1.1 ).My intention is to download the files and then fly offline. The programm looks good , now to get it work.Best regards,Gerard SaldenBeta Tester Wideview

Hi Damian,OK, my last post kinda sucked - pretty vague and not much solid info. I've done some troubleshooting in regards to that and have found that some of what I was seeing wasn't a bug at all (the vis problems are something else which you have already addressed - thanks :-) ).This is in respect to the program not picking up a nearby station, or picking up "wrong" stations. I duplicated my setup, and found that my weather was still out to lunch, but AS did find a couple of nearby stations that I didn't know existed (and neither does Nav Canada :-) ). I was at Bella Bella once again (dodging 747's :-), only here those 747's are referred to as "mosquitoes" :-lol)) and…

Guess What I did this morning?I was having problems with ActiveSky wxRE v1.1 (visibility issues). I decided that I would re-download the v1.1 upgrade and reinstall.Upon reinstall, I noticed the option to delete the v1.0 to v1.1 upgrade. Hey, I thought, this will get rid of the v1.1 upgrade (which doesn't work) and reinstall back to v1.0 (which did work).Boy, was I wrong! It deleted ActiveSky wxRE v1.1 alright, but since I didn't back up v1.0, I have no way of reestablishing either v1.0 or v1.1!HELP!.....Since I didn't "keep" a backup copy of v1.0, nor did I "deep" the download link from imatrex(?)...it appears I'm now up the creek without a paddle! What can I do to get …

Go get it from http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/downloads.htmYou may need to refresh your browser once the ActiveSky page loads. Here is a list of changes:Revisions to v1.1 (from v1.0)- Added automatic combination of offline METAR cycles (current + 1 hour past) for more complete METAR coverage during offline use or FSFlightMax export mode.- Added enhanced Radar Contact 3 integration for proper arrival weather reports via RC3 (must use RCv3.01 or later, due 1/20/03)- Added enhanced FSFlightMax integration for better radar returns - Must use FSFlightMax v1.4 or later). Also solved problem with no echoes in certain situations and outdated METAR data.- Added proxy server suppo…

I have been using the V1.0 program without any problems and today I downloaded/installed V1.1. I have the latest FSUIPC 2.95 installed and the settings are as recommended in the ActiveSky manual. I also have not changed any of the options within ActiveSky and use the ones that are recommended(same ones I was using with V1.0). The problem is that FS does not seem to be communicating with ActiveSky very well. I always start FS first and pick my start location along with clearing the WX. I then minimize FS and start AciveSky and I can see that it picks up on the nearest station and displays the current METAR info. I will then go back into FS and start my flight. At th…

Hi Damian,This may be related to the other problem some of the fellows have related about visibility issues, so you might want to just peruse this and give one overall answer to everyone rather than doing individual posts.Anyway, I loaded up my flight at an airport this morning. I have been using offline weather, and so selected the latest METAR time for this region (09:00 PST, 17:00 GMT). Unfortunately, this isn't exactly a huge airport (can you say, "Bella Bella International Airport :-lol!!), and the METAR came up blank. Basically it said it was processing the information in the space where the METAR's are supposed to be, but the header line at the top said that the…
