Hi, I've been using ActiveSky wxRE for quite a while with FS2002. I love it. I just got the update for FS2004 and got it going. One big question comes to mind though in my limited use so far...does it utilize FS2004's weather engine to the extent that it creates weather areas?Example - if I'm flying out of KSFO with foggy weather and fly into a weather area that is reporting clear, will I still be able to look back and see the fog in KSFO as FS2004 allows using the default weather engine? Or is AS wxRE's weather engine affecting the global weather? Cheers, Mike [email protected]

From Jim Skorna:"Sonja, thanks for the kind words about ActiveSky, I did see them! Got to install FS04, FSUIPC3.02, ActiveSky 1.9, then go fly around!"Well, I gotta say, I've been using ActiveSky for almsot a year now. I used the free version for a few months then decided to upgrade to tha pay version. I loved, it was great, added a realistic dimension to FS.With FS2004 supposedly having a better weather engine and capable of downloading real world weather there was concern out there about ActiveSky becoming obsolete, leaving a lot of people holding lighter wallets (not by much mind you ;-)). Tonight I heard that Phoenix was supposed to have a windy rough night. Since my …

Hi,Maybe I am just daydreaming but "no idea is crazy idea" ;)Is it possible to incorporate in future AS version reading of the online SIGMETs and to extend reading of the METAR past default content - after A3007 in following example (e.g. KMIA 281553Z 12004KT 10SM SCT030 BKN050 BKN300 31/23 A3007 RMK AO2 SLP182 CB DSNT N TCU DSNT SW T03110233) and also to decode TEMPO readouts?By SIGMET decoding I meanhttp://aviationweather.noaa.gov/awc/fltfldr/6443.txt contains SIGMETs for Europe. It would be excellent if you could somehow decode it and represent it for the given location. I am not sure if this is possible in FS2002 nor FS2004, but I leave that to you.As example here is s…

I just purchased ActiveSkywxre 1.9 and got everything to work on a single computer, now I would like to run ActiveSkywxre on a second computer using widefs v6. I am using FSUIPC V3 registered and widefs v6 registered. I also have Flightmax v1.4 (which I am not running over the network using fsremote)maybe I should be?, anyway I am using FS2002.The problem I am having is with the wx export path not being set correctly error. In activeSkywxre I typed Servername=Vincent-7ZOX5M2C:FS2002AddonsActiveSkywxREFlightmax (for the path to export so flightmax can pick it up and use the data) I am not sure what to type for activesky to access the main computer to write the data.I made…

Hi Damian.First of all thanks for your great ActiveSky add-on.I read about the new weather system in FS2004. Now I think a weather radar should be a must. So my question is: "Do yoy think it's possible to include a w/radar in the next version of ActiveSky?"Many thanks!Best regards,Max

At the moment I have WXRe1.9 on Drive C along with FS2K2. I just installed FS9 on Drive D. How can I get WXRe to recognize the path to FS9? I don't see anything in the wxre.ini file (or any of the other files in the ActiveSky folder)that refers to the FS path. I also can't seem to change this within WXRe using the options. Is the path to FS something that is set during installation? Do I need to uninstall WXRe from C and reinstall it on D? Thanks.

This just happened to me three times in a row:Loaded WXre,Loaded FS2004, picked the Jet Ranger, KTUS, Clear Weather themeRight as FS started to change the weather, screen goes black, hard drive thrashes for about a minute and I get a crash dialog. It's storming in Tucson right now - here's the METAR it's trying to load:KTUS 292348Z 19010G17KT 140V230 3/4SM +TSRA BKN009 OVC070 22/18 A3006Any ideas?Ryan

I just installed ActiveSky wxRE this morning and I'm trying to set it up to work with both FS2002 and COF2004.I just tested it at a variety of locations and ActiveSky seems to work perfectly with COF2004 but with FS2002, the METAR is downloaded; it scrolls across the screen but the weather in the sim is not updated...all I see is clear blue sky.I've tested this at KSEA, KEWL, KGRR, KRAC and KCGX and I get the same results everytime. This is my setup:ActiveSky wxRE version 1.90FSUIPC 2.975 running with FS2002FSUIPC 3.02 (the unlicensed version) running with COF2004I had ActiveSky wxRE version 1.87 installed previously and I did a complete uninstall then installed 1.9. I just downloaded FSUIPC 3.02 unregistered version and ActiveskyWRE 1.90 and am using it in FS2004.I position myself at WSSS (Singapore Changi) and ActiveSky tells me that the current METAR is WSSS 290100Z 14006KT 110V170 9999 FEW012 FEW017TCU BKN300 29/26 Q1012However, when I go check in FS2004, the winds are displayed just like the METAR at 140 deg 6 kts, but no clouds are showed. Moreover, in ADVANCED WEATHER it shows that no cloud layers are set.I have followed the guidelines that came with ActiveSky 1.90 by unchecking both the reduce visiblity box and the Overcast Sky box. Greeting,I have a question concerning switching between FS2k2 & FS2k4. I noticed in the newest wxRe (v1.9 Beta 1) that the FS2004 docs suggest making some changes in the "OPTIONS" setup area (e.g. Overcast vis reduction: OFF, Rain/Snow vis reduction: OFF, etc.) since FS2004 handles these internally. It appears that if you want to fly either FS2k2 or FS2k4 (using the full potential of wxRe), you will have to change these settings manually each time you switch sims. Is this correct or did I miss something. And BTW, thanks Damian for a great add-on.Gary T.

Hi, I've been using active sky for a while in fs2002, and have to say it made the sim:)Now that I've got fs2004, I'm using it again because visibility with real weather sucks...it's basically set at 50 miles. But now I have anothe problem...With active sky, the clouds are all basically flat and like in 2002. Is there anyway to fix this?I just installed the beta. Thanks

Hi, in FS2002 i never bothered with weather because it just didn't seem real enough. Now i've heard about what FS2004 can do, what exactly will wxRE 1.9 do to enhance it? I don't mean all the Utilities and everything , but will it actually change the look/behaviour of the sky? and how? Also, can you describe how your enhanced turbulence works. I have LAGO's Air File Pro which is quite cool but does wxRE overlap features or add new one's and can i run both together (do i even need to)? Thanks, Mark

  21. Hello everyone,Thanks to those who helped test v1.9. There were some problems found mainly with the FSUIPC key validation process which have been fixed. It is now released, and has been uploaded to the AVSIM libraries, filename is: wxre19update.zip.This requires FSUIPC v3.02 as there was a problem with the key process in earlier versions. Please download FSUIPC v3.02 from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html.v1.9 brings FS2004 compatibility to wxRE - You can now experience the beautiful new FS weather engine with accurate and realistic depiction via wxRE. Hello Simmers,Crusing at my first transatlantic flight right now, i have a few important questions about winds aloft. Seeked thru some topics on this forum already, but i haven't found an answer (or i haven't searched properly). At first, wxRE manual states: "Online International Winds Aloft Processing". What does it mean? Are there any sources of winds aloft information available over Internet, which have winds for regions outside US? I need to know where wxRE gets winds for Europe, North Atlantic and so... The problem is that wxRE manual tells me to look at aviationweather.gov (for winds flight planning), but they have only winds for US.I'm stuck over Atlantic with 60 kt…

Damian, just a little thought about the new version. Too little and probably also too late but still...One of the great advantages of wxRE is the possibility to run it on a second computer through WideClient. One of the competition had that same advantage but lost it after the update to version 2. Due to framerates I always make it my priority to run everything I use on a networked pc so the main machine can concentrate on Fs so I dumped the competition in favour of wxRE.Now I have read that version 2 of wxRE is going to add a weather-radar or at least the possibility to have one... Will this mean that there will be no way to run it on a second PC??? :-( Luc 'glaudrung' Br…
