Hello, great to hear about the progress with the private server system, and it looks like the future wind modelling is what I've been wanting for a long time, i.e. truly worldwide winds including oceanic and otherwise remote areas not usually covered by weather balloon observations. There's no doubt I'll upgrade to FS2004 and AS2 for that. What I've been meaning to ask, however, is if we could expect vertical wind interpolation? For example, right now with the upper winds of AS 1.8 that I use, if there's a "winds aloft layer" at 28000' and the next one is at 36000', upon climbing through 28000' winds will be set to the appropriate value (gradually, if you set it like that in…

As I receive this FS Real-time with the ActiveSky product I will post this message here.I had previously a DELL 4100 on which the FS was running O.K. if not well (12 frames/se down to 4 when lot of resources were needed).I have bought a new PC DELL 8300 2.6GHz 800fsb with a 128Mb Radeon 9800 graphics card. Good is it not?Well something strange is going on in this PC.If I start FS2002 I get a frame rate around 32 It seems to keep that value as long I do not add anything else to it. (The plug in sceneries of FSGenesis are installed in the FS.)First scenario: I start FS Real Time only FS and FS Real time active; no other program running except the load of usual stuff like l…

Hello!I am a bit confused about a couple of things.First, I am running FS2004 with the latest version of FSUIPC (3.04 - Registered)and after reading the FS004.txt file that came with Active Sky 1.9, I got the imression that I should use the same FSUIPC settings as in FS2002. Does this mean I can just copy the FSUIPC.ini file over from the ActiveSky foler to the FS9 module folder, or do I have to set up FSUIPC manually? If I can't use the .ini file that comes with ActiveSky, what are the settings that I need to use?Second, when I tune the radio to 122.0 in FS2004 with ActiveSky running, I no longer get a text or verbal report of the weather, like I did in FS2002.What can I …

I was having problems downloading weather last night, and thought it might be a program issue (TAF's not downloading, didn't bother to read a post about other people having the same problems)Anyways, after uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling ActiveSky 1.9, FS2002Pro crashes to the desktop on startup. Had the program create a new FS2002.cfg file, still does the same thing. Set the program up to start up without the Full Screen option, got an error in reading Weather.dll. So I went into the FS2002Pro CD, pulled out the file right off the CD (after renaming the old one, of course). Tried staring again, still having the same problems. Any ideas?

Hi Damian,I've got 1.9 and FS2K4 and until today everything's been great. Loaded and started a flight from KMLB and dynamic wx was with 2sm vis in thunder. Every time I un-pause the sim it immediately goes to black screen, then the error report screen. The offending DLL is g2d.dll. I've done all of the things that we're supposed to, render to texture off and everything else. I'm stumped. My system:P4 2.6 HT512 PC2700 Ram80g 7200 HDXP SP1 with all of the patchesFSUIPC 3.04 registered versionAny ideas or help greatly appreciated!Best,

Hi all,I'm running version 1.87 of ActiveSky in FS2K2. Up until now I haven't had any problems. However, the past couple of days I am unable to download the weather. I get a "error timeout downloading" message. Also, the weather from previous downloads/days does not seem to work. I get a messages telling me to check my "ini" file and download new weather....which I obviously can't do.I fly in the "offline" mode, using the limited winds aloft option for those of us who are bandwidth challenged.Any suggestions?Regards,ScottKJMS

Good evening everybody,I am more confused than ever, after reading some of the topics and replies on this forum.I am using FS9 with a registered version of both fsuipc 3.04, wideserver/wideclient and the latest version of wxRE(1.9). Tonight I found that weather didn't get updated in Fs9 so I started roaming this forum for a answer. But to no avail. At least I did find an answer but it didn't work for me.Let me picture the situation:Standing on KMFR, I start fsuipc and clear all weather. First problem because no weather would mean winds 0

I have run into a problem were I'll be departing from KCOS (Colorado Springs) to KMKC (KC Downtown). I'll noticed this and on several other flights that it keeps updating the KCOS (and other airports as well) weather station and not moving to the closest available. However, if I minimized FS2004 and hit the refresh button it will finally update with the closest weather station. I have the free version of FSUIPC 3.04 and FS2004. I can email screens as necessary. Thanks!

I just bought a new PC and I am installing all the FS products (and others) on it. I installed the V1.6. Then I upgraded it to V1.9, at least that is what I want to do. But the upgrade hasn't been done correctly and wxRE still shows V1.6. The upgrade process did seem to go O.K. Of course I now have all the old problems with the old versions of wxRE. I never installed V1.9 on the old PC and I still use for the moment FS2002. Should I just be happy with V1.8?Roger

I am the one that was posting on the flightsim forums. Unfortunatly my problem is persisting. It has happened twince in a row at Newark. The winds were just 001@58. It is starting to get frustrating. Any help is appreciated.Brian

Please for give the redundancy of this question if it has been answered previously, but I could not find the answer I was looking for in my search.I have update from 1.8 to 1.9. AS 1.9 works fine with FS9, but it no longer connects with FS2002. Is this possible, if so how does this work.Thanks.GrantM

Hi there.I was using the very first shareware version of Active Sky - v1.0 and it allowed me to connect to the server without any trouble (I have to use a proxy server due to our network here at home). Now, having upgraded to v1.9 - I can no longer connect - i get a message about invalid servers and then one about metar conflicts. I have tried setting the ip address and port number I use for internet in the options of Activesky but it still doesn't work :-(Any ideasThanks.:-wave

This is with version 1.9 and FS2004.Attached are JPGs of my active sky screens and two views from FS2004. I shrunk them down to fit file size limits. Grand Junction ATIS said scattered clouds at 0 and that's exactly what it looks like. However, from the METAR, this should not be the case.Looked pretty cool though. :)Rick.

When passing through a new wx layer in FS2004, the TAT sometimes changes quite abruptly when compared to the old wx layer - at times in excess of 5 - 10 degress. This happens either in climb/descent or when processing a new wx station. When this happens I get sudden and abrupt speed increases/decreases.Does anyone know of any settings I can change in FS2004 that will cure this problem. It occurs for me in both AS WXRE 1.9 and FSMETEO v6.01, so I think it is more likely to be an FS2004 issue.Any help greatly appreciated.

I have tried to use the free ActiveSky 1.5 version but it does not seem to work properly. The METAR data is corrupted by part of an html string setting font size.Is this a known bug in 1.5?If I could get it working properly it would help me assess the potential of buying WRxe..boneshttp://fsaviation.net

Hi,Theses files are only created to replace the original Fs2004 default texture for much better performance on clouds for lower mid and high system with all variation and many layers, fix the horizon at sunset and a darker night lights environment. These files do not meat FSW standard quality; they are only created to temporary fix some performance on clouds and fix.- You will notice better performance with clouds using detailed clouds even with many layers on lower mid and high system, but the clouds quality is reduced for better performance, the stratus are not affected in quality, still 10x better then the simple clouds option in fs2004.- Recommended to use the Ms Ultr…

W98SE, FS2K2, Radar Contact V3.1 latest build, 2.53 GHx, 512 PC2700 DDR.Procview indicates that when not focused AS WXRe is still running at normal even with force idle priority checked. If I use Procview to lower the priority on AS startup, as soon as a flight starts, AS returns to normal priority.I operate off-line and experience long sim pauses of about five seconds including audio pauses from FS ATC or Radar Contact. I would like to disable Flightwatch audio (text display is already disabled) to see if that has any effect. These FS pauses are not present when AS WXRe is not running but got worse version 1.87 and later. Non-related background programs are disabled and m…

I've got a major problem using ActiveSky v1.9 with FS9. I've tried three (3) flights now with v1.9 and it has brought my system to its knees every time -- I mean down to 1 fps for an extended period - so, it's not just a "flicker". I'm using FSUIPC v3.04 (Payware version), have unchecked Render to Texture, have my 3D clouds set to 100%, and have most all of my sliders are under Max. Using FS9 with the default weather engine I normally get frames in the range of 8-24 depending upon the cloud cover. I've got a 2.4 Ghz P4 with a 533 FSB but I am still using Windows 98Se so I only have 512 Mb of RAM. Could upgrading to Windows XP Home and adding another 512 Mb of RAM hel…

I guess I'm coming up with this question on this forum as you guys are the weather experts. :D Is there any way to check destination weather in FS9 before takeoff and in the route to the destination airport?

Hi all,We've been getting repeated questions about AS2 so I'm posting a general info thread here with the most common answers...- ActiveSky2 is still under development. New features will include full FS2004 weather area integration, included Radar Gauge, improved flight planning, flight plan awareness, enhanced wake turbulence simulation, dedicated private server access, and more.- ActiveSky2 will not be free.- There will be an upgrade offer for existing wxRE users (price not yet determined).- Look for release info soon (no details yet, but I have just significantly increased the development priority and things should be wrapping up soon)Check here for more info as it be…
