After reading about Weather Center in the ActiveSky AVSIM forum I thought about it and decided to look further. After visiting Weather Center's home page and trying the demo I decided to give it a go. On the home page it says "Weather Center 2 now supports Flight Simulator 2004", and further down the page it says "You'll be able to download and install it within minutes after your purchase!". So I made my purchase from SimMarket and promptly received my downloaded - version 2.1 which is not the FS9 compatible version. After following the upgrade link to the point where it asks for your name I find I am apparently not (yet) in the required database so lo and behold I am…

I have loaded FS2004, the newest and registered version of fsuipc, and the newest version of Active Sky 1.9. When I start up ActiveSky now, I am getting the error:winds get request-problem reading offline wx files-please check your files or re-download a new set.I have looked on previous threads but have not seen that error. What does it mean exactly and how do I fix it. Help would be great. Other than that, I really enjoy using the activesky product, to get weather more frequently than the default. One thing while I am here..will thunder only sound with the default weather generator on either 2002 or 2004. Or will it also sound using activesky? Just wondering that…

I am a little confused as to what the exact settings in FSUIP should be when using ASky and FS2004. I assume that ASky would be classified as 'an external weather program'? If this be the case should one then set visability and cloud settings within FSUIP or does the FS2004 weather engine look after these? I note that reading the FS2004Info.txt that you say "Overcast and Rain/Snow vis should be turned off". What about the other settings? Where do I find 'Disable Cloud Transitions'?To summmarize I feel it would be helpful to publish all the recommended settings within FSUIPC when using FS2004 and ASky. This should clear up any confusion users might have.I have to say that …

Hi DamianI just ended a flight where I had some trouble when landing. I noticed that the wind speeds didn't decrease with altitude as they should. And when I was 8NM from touch down I took some screen shots. The first one shows my "reality". It's a shot from the flight deck. I have 35knot winds almost headwind:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/33475.jpgAccording to the METAR and the status window I should have winds 330@13:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/33479.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/33480.jpgI think I've set everything right. Hi I've found that within the last month, I am always getting severe fog with visibility always ending up being set to 1/8th of a mile.I am online taking live metar/taf's. Be it anywhere in the UK, Amsterdam, princess Julliana etc. I am always getting very bad visibility. I tried deselecting the rain/snow reduces visibility option within active sky, but that has no effect.E.g I was at east midlands airport in the uk and the report said that the cloud cover was FEW030 and BKN050, so i don't beleive i should have such bad conditions. If the Dew point equals the ground temp, then does that mean that mist or fog would occur. Is it possible for the Dew temp to be lower than t…

Hi Damian,Got a question. Yesterday it was pouring rain in Boise (real world), but when I launched AS, I had partly cloudy conditions with an enormous amount of blue skies and no rain...So, I closed AS an opened FS Meteo (latest Vsersion for FS9), This displayed pretty accurate weather as it was in Boise, i.e., Overcast skies, lots of rain, and winds. What was really impressive, I had massive thunderclouds and rain well above 15000ft.While I'd like to stay faithful to AS, will I begin to see more accurate weather conditions like in FS Meteo when you guys incorporate AS with the new server?Thanks,TroyPS..By the way I have all he lates updates for everything...AS 1.9

Hello all I downloaded the weather last night for a flight from Amstredam to Madrid the same way i have always done. My cruising altitude was FL330,when i reached cruising level the first thing i noticed that there was no contrails, when i looked at the tempreture it was +8. I dont know what it should be at that altitude but i think it should be colder than that. I am using version 1.9 with version 3.04 of FSUIPC. Have i done some thing wrong which has lead to this high tempreture. Thanks in advance Shaun

I don't know if this is an FS9 or an AS issue but when I fly over an undercast, I almost always see through to the ground :-zhelp Now that's a bit differernt thatn my actual expereince with undercast :) It's solid and you can't see through it!I've also noticed some strange winds aloft- 60 kt winds at 3000 feet on what is otherwise a clear clam day on the surface, typically happens on descent as opposed to climbout. I'm one that tends to fly the PMDG 737 so I end up at the Flight levels. That and what's up with that area of clouds that flies along with me in FS9? it's like I'm casting a really large shadow...Tim

Damien - I have the 1.90.08b payware version. I have had successful weather using Active Skytwice in the maybe 30+ times I have used FS2004.Keep getting the winds timeouts 98% of the time.I have been getting the extremely low visibilityfor quite awhile. It seems to effect the sim evenwhen AS is not used, (when actual wx is used inthe sim). Could FSUIPC be the problem?Sure getting frustrated.

Hi everybody,I know there have been several threads about this, but I still thought I'd mention that while I had the problem of FS2004 crashing, I never had any of the 2D panel flickering, even with "Render to texture" enabled with the unregistered version of FSUIPC. But as soon as I registered FSUIPC 3.05 today and restarted FS2004 I did have the flickering while WXRE 1.91 Beta 2 was updating the weather until I disabled "Render to texture"Best regardsMax (LSZB)

Hi DamianLat weekend I flew my first RW ILS approach with screens up in a PA28 - quite an interesting experience! This made me think about how FS and RW winds seem to differ, and if I'm right, it might be something to consider for v2.0.During the approach the wind direction changed a little, so I had to keep working the heading to correct. In the Northern hemisphere, I think the wind backs by about 25 to 30 degrees during the last 1000 feet, and also the strength at circuit height is approximately twice that at ground level.I'm not close to how FS2002 or FS2004 model winds in this respect, but each approach I make in FS seems rather more "dead" and predictable than the RW…

  25. I am very much enjoying FS2004 with the exception of how it handles low lying haze when using real-time weather. I haven't loaded my copy of ActiveSky yet. This haze layer shows up particularly around coastal mountains and looks absolutely unrealistic with my rig. There does not seem to be a fix (with realtime weather) internally, and from reading the guide with FSUIPC I can't tell if there is any relief in terms of graduated visibility in FS2004 as there may have been with FS2002. Can anyone here tell me if FSUIPC and/or ActiveSky can remedy this? And as a side note, I was an ActiveSky user every flight with 02. Is it worth the upgrade to 1.9 now, or no? I was goi…
