  1. I've been flying in Miami the last couple of days and, if I go by what I see on my screen, it's a gigantic lightning storm...even when it's not in the observation sometimes. Double strikes all over the place. Is there any way to tone this down? Thanks!

I can never get a stable departure wind direction with AS2012. I know this program is great so it must be something I am doing wrong. I have AS2012 SP2 on a networked computer and it seems to connect fine and give the weather that is on the Metar, except the wind direction. I always start AS2012 first, load a flight plan and let AS2012 do its thing. I then start FSX (normally with the PMDG 737NGX) and take note of the wind direction so I can determine the Take Off runway. This is where the problem occurs, although the Metar wind in AS2012 may say 320/06 the direction nearly always is constantly moving + or - 60 degs or so. Is this a problem with FSX or AS2012,…

Good eve, could anyone tell me how could I disable ASE's voice ATIS? I'm currently on Bucharest Control on 122.02 and it's driving me crazy :wacko2: Voice ATIS/Flightwatch is disabled within the UI. Thanks

  4. Using the latest official patch, I really love the weather depiction and textures. I have just one small complaint, the clouds. Basically I see way too many patterns in the sky, mostly clouds but displayed in boxes or straight lines, it looks very unrealistic. Is this caused by the option to extend stations or something? Would like suggestions for how to get rid of it.

  5. Hey guys, I've been a long time user of ASE but recently purchased and moved over to Opus due to its ability to depict zero vis conditions. I usually fly high altitude and long haul so Active Sky has always been the better option in terms winds aloft and planning, but Opus won hands down with its zero vis condtions on approach. I'd like to move up to AS2012 and was wondering how to compares to Opus for that zero vis depiction? Cheers,

Hi, After I recently updated my router firmware I couldn't connect to FSX anymore. I have AS2012 on a networked computer and I suspected the DHCP server of my router had given out new IP addresses all around and it had. However after updating the IP address in both the Simconnect.xml (server) and Simconnect.cfg (client) I still can't connect to FSX. All shares seem to be working fine. Hopefully somebody here will have an idea ? regards Martin

  8. I recently built a new machine and installed 2012 on top of ASE because on my old machine I purchased 2012 as an upgrade and installed it over ASE (2012 needed to see ASE installed to prove it was an upgrade. Do i need to have both versions installed on the new machine? Might it cause problems because I'm having CTD issues and am trying to leave no stone unturned. Also, everytime the weather downloads theres also a license check going on. Is that normal? Maybe I never noticed it before..

  9. Started by KingCat,

I have the option "Post-Plan Graphics Install Prompt" enabled, and whenever the initial weather processes have been completed, I get the install prompt. But when I click on the "Ok" button too soon, the wx influenced textures do not get installed automatically, and I have to go to the "Graphics" section and install the textures there. However, if I wait a few seconds before clicking on the "Ok" button (let's say 5 to 10 secs.) than the textures do get installed automatically. So, this seems to be a timing problem (and it also depends on how many waypoints you have in your flightplan). I would like to point out that this is a longstanding issue, that was already pr…

Hello, I've just bought AS2012 to go with my FSX sim. I know AS2012 is capable of all sorts of wonderful things, but I'm an OAP and want to keep it simple! If I start AS2012, let it run through its initialisation and then start FSX using the bottom button, is this all that's required for me to fly in "real time" weather in whichever location I then select? Many thanks.

  12. As much as I enjoy Asky, I still struggle with deterioration off effects from FS9. In this discussion specifically I don't like the way visibility changes over time, it happens in steps instead of smooth transition, end there is no way to control the speed of that transition. It was possible to fully customize it in FS9 using FSUIPC module. I wonder if there is an specific file or some other way of improving that effect.

I'm in a Catch22 situation. I recently upgraded my PC with a new mobo, CPU & memory. Everything is fine except when I came to re-install AS2012 I came up against a virtual brick wall. My first ActiveSky product was ASv6.5 which I purchased but I have since lost the licence key. I have proof of purchase of an upgrade from ASv6.5 to ASA which got me, as I recall, a free upgrade to ASE. Having ASE I was able to purchase AS2012 at a discount but the licence key for that transaction has also been lost. At one point I was having trouble with my AS2012 key and Jim Skorna came to the rescue, providing me with a new key. Now when I try to install AS2012, whiche…

Hi folks, Right now I am using REX E+ textures in my prepar3d setup, just yesterday I upgraded to AS2012 for my weather engine. I figured I would give the AS2012 textures a try. Does anyone have any themes which they wouldn't mind sharing?

Have a strange problem which rears it's head intermittently. Wake turbulence gets generated in areas where there are no ai aircraft in the vicinity and makes GA flights impossible unless I turn off the wake turbulence option. What could be causing this issue, I have checked traffic toolbox and there are definately no ai aircraft nearby. Setup is Active skies 2012 with SP2 installed on FSX with SP2 and acceleration. Windows 7.

  18. Hi, so far I was under the impression that Active Sky Evolution is the only eligible previous-version for the Active Sky 2012 Upgrade. And under requirements it still states that a "valid Active Sky Evolution registration key" is required for the upgrade. On the other hand one can read the following on the product page: So I'm wondering, is it true that even Active Sky 6.5 is eligible for the Active Sky 2012 Upgrade? And if so, how does it work? Active Sky 6.5 never came with a license key. But according to the instructions the license key is required to validate the upgrade. Thanks and Greetings Tim

Hi, I just switched over to FSX and so I ditched the good ol' AS6.5 for ASE. After doing a few flights, these kinds of square, flat clouds were showing: I am not sure if I have done something wrong, if this is an ASE problem, or REX. Here are my ASE settings: AND Also note, this only happens when there are not a lot of tall clouds. When I fly above a thick area of clouds, they show normal. I hope I have provided enough info to get help figuring out what is causing it! Thanks, Kyle

New European Server We are bringing a new Europe-based weather server online in effort to provide increased performance and availability for our customers in that region. Over the next 24-72 hours, some delays in weather access from some servers may be noticed while maintenance is performed to finalize the implementation and routing of data to/from the new server. Any delays/issues will be temporary and other servers will automatically be used by clients, so this should not affect availability.
