Hi all, I'm using ASN (latest hotfix installed), with FSX SP2 and W7 pro 64. My previous weather engine was ASE. All is fine with ASN, except for the well known random freezes. As I was not really using FSUIPC (I was still with v. 4.90) except for saving the flight at regular intervals I uninstalled it, but the freezes are still on. Did anyone try the same test? Thanks for any reply Fulvio

Flew several flights with the trial version of ASN with each of my commercial livery and nothing but great weather simulation so I purchased. My test flights were all short flights, a little over an hour in duration and frame rates and VAS usage seemed to be similar to ASE2012. After purchase I again have been experiencing great performance but again with short flights. I then tried a trans Atlantic flight in the ConcordeX. Great weather depiction and frame rates locked at 30 fps, no stutters, no delays, just smooth performance. But when I was just over the two hour mark in the flight everything just froze in place. Nothing responded and I waited 10 minutes but sti…

First I just want to say I am enjoying the program immensely. Honestly, I tried putting off my purchase of ASN to compare to REX, but within hours of the trial running out I bought ASN. You know an addon is good when you can’t fly without it anymore. Still have some small complaints, but in general it has revolutionized my flying and I take forecasts seriously now, sometimes even deciding to stay grounded. I think it says a lot about a weather program when you are apprehensive about flying into the IMC it produces. Anyway, have a couple questions about historical time, if someone could kindly answer them. - If historical time is locked to FSX while FSX is at the cu…

I bought ASN and quickly tested it. It really seems to be a huge improvement to FSX simming enviroment. But there's one thing I cannot get right. And it's overcast. I took off this morning with overcast 200ft + fog conditions. Runway visibiilty was low and it looked really pleasing. And soon after lift off I was in total grayness. But as soon as I got above the cloud layer, I started to see the ground through holes in the clouds very clearly. Not very realistic and definately not anything to be called overcast. Have I missed something? I have maximum cloud coverage set in FSX and haze layer is disabled as it is ASN's default setting. I am using textures from AS201…

Hi everyone, First thanks so much to HiFi for achieving this new masterpiece. I tested it a week and bought the upgrade from AS2012. I have a single question, as it's hard to have others: it has never been so simple to use a weather engine, no more option tweaking nightmare. I use to fly 100% on IVAO, and each time during last week, I always saw a 30 minute delay between IVAO and ASN Metar. For example 1830 Metar on IVAO and 1800 Metar on ASN. That can be disturbing, and first of all it gives a bad impression about "as real as it gets" ... Any idea ? Thanks ! Emmanuel F.

Hi I have this problem i can't manage to solve. The other day I upgraded to Active Sky NEXT from AS2012 which didn't give me any problem. When I'm flying over a Thunderstorm or a big amount of clouds and I look at the horizon, the frames suddenly drop from 30 to 6 - 10. This is happening with any aircraft and with any REX cloud resolution. I noticed that at the moment the frames drop the PC fans start to run soo fast. Also, When I switch the antialiasing supersampling from 2 x sparse grid to OFF I don't have the problem anymore. I reinstalled the drivers in the correct way but nothing changed. I tried to use REX for live weather update and the frames drop is still p…

Today, I had my first testflight with ASN, on my second flight I used FSGRW, I had strange wind issues with FSGRW on my Approach, after reading this on the FSGRW Facebook Page, I know why... Thanks very much Hifi, ASN uninstalled, and I never buy a Hifi Addon again...

Hello, I have odd issue and not sure if its something in my setup or intended to work as is, but this issue is very visible and easily recreated when flying Northern Alaska like PAJN to PANC or PANC to PAFA and few areas around there more south its less prone. It doesnt matter if I use ASN or ASE2012 ether one of these produce similar effect but more prone in ASN is i will have a mix of small puffy white clouds as you normally expect but then bunch of much darker clouds in mix almost like 50/50 mixing of two types of different clouds into mix, and effect is strange as you have almost dark/white/dark/white color mixing. I tried various ASE cloud texture presets and …

As was suggested yesterday in another thread, some had micro stutters, or of longer duration when running ASN and FSX. Well, it was suggested that one of the probable causes could be your anti-virus engine monitoring the activities of ASN, and causing a loss of program focus as the CPU directed background efforts. I just excluded both the FSX folder, and the Hi-Soft folder from active monitoring, and it has greatly reduced micro and short-pause stutter within FSX with ASN active. Thought to report....

Less than 1 mile visibility, absolute soup at KCWF today.I can take off and the near-zero vis continues up to 5000 and I pop out of it, but wait.. whats this.. I can see the entire ground everywhere around the regular clouds. It seems that once I clear the cloud deck it vanishes - and wont return until I'm down to about 2000.Whats up with that??Wind: 020 True, 5 KtsVis: 810 Meters, 1 SMClouds: 500 BrokenPrecip: Moderate RainTemp: 20C Dew: 20CPressure: 1012 mb, 29.89 inchesI bought 6.5 to fix that exact problem with FS9, just as A.S. has always brought home accurate visibility in previous FS versions. But so far, I've spent $37+ to generate lots of pretty clouds that KILLLLL…

Was just wondering, as Opus can't. I presently have A.S.E. If ASN can drive FS9, that might be also a good incentive for me to try and pick it up... Anybody? Thanks.

Team, Please could you give me some assistance, I am using the trial version at present of your new programme, however I am somewhat perplexed at the local winds being used around the UK airports. Today at EGKK Zulu 10.00 you show winds at 6k @ 267/32 another well know weather engine that uses real time GRIB is showing 202/17? The winds in ASN are extremely high all the way up through the layers further the surface winds in the UK are not high 190/7. This is not a case of who is the best, what I am trying to establish where you obtain your wind data from and which is the most accurate as it appears ASN winds seem to err on the high side which also makes fo…

I just installed Active Sky upgrade version which I bought from PCaviator, I ran the installer as an admin as usual. Using Win 7 64 bit home with UAC off. Whenever I launch the program I instantly get message "Registry Access problem". This is what error log shows: 19:51:25:0067-Could not generate a Client ID + ex.Message Reinstalling doesn't seem to fix it, I installed it to D:\Hifi What now? /// Apparently this was caused by me having WMI service manually disabled due to some issues I had with FSX freezing before, now when I enabled it I managed to get rid of the problem with AS Next.

To Damian and Kostas and all the ASN Beta testers, a big thank you from me. This is what we always wanted and its met my expectations. From the cleaner interface, easy set up and use, to additional features (destination airport ATIS, always wanted that, now why didn't anyone else but you guys think of that! So useful), Active Sky has come-of age. Just done a quick flight around Cape Town. The "South Easter" is blowing today (mild 14kts), and it makes flying low around Table Mountain area very dangerous, with sweeping downdrafts along the north-facing mountain fronts, and updrafts / ridge lift along the south-facing slopes. Tested this out and for the first time i…

There was a thread about the best settings for AS2012 http://forum.avsim.net/topic/400613-best-settings/ These settings were absolutely amazing and gave me best results. I want to know if there are also best settings for ASN or does it come with these settings? Thank you Mike
