  1. Started by klamal,

Hello. I recently made the switch to ASN and am now trying to figure out how I can use the Live weather mode with my system clock/FSX time that isn't necessarily at the current real time? (I have FSX set to use system time for its time). What I prefer to do is have the select flight/startup screen in FSX off so it just takes me straight into the sim where I last left it in that last state. Also, I usually fly against real world airline schedules but not at the actual real or current times. So, for example, let's say my next scheduled leg departs KSFO at 0900a local time. Let's also say that it is actually 6p local time in KSFO. What I want to do is set my comput…

  2. Got around to installing Xgauge into the VC panel of the Milviz Cessna 310. I'm running a networked configuration of ASN, and am pleased to report everything worked great (and looked great) with the Xgauge in the virtual cockpit. However, for convenvience, I also like to have a 2D popup window so I don't have to crane my virtual head, and for ease of pressing the buttons. So I made a [Window] entry for that also, and it worked fine except for one thing: I expected the 2D popup to be in synchronization with the one on the VC panel...i.e. You push a button on the 2D popup panel, and the expected result happens on the VC panel too. In my experience this is how m…

Today I was flying at 20,000 with lightening in many places below, flashing images on the ground, but no clouds visible. The weather is correct as per the weather gauge but at this particular height the clouds were not visible. Also getting quite a lot of cloud popping. Any help/observations would be appreciated.

  4. Started by BobKK47,

I use Radar Contact (RC) for most of my flights. With ASN, I'm still noticing, occasionally, that the wx reported by RC Approach Control for the destination field is not matching the metar reported by ASN. I have "prevent download on approach" (in General Options) off, which is the default, but I'm thinking that using this feature may help RC Approach report the wx that is consistent with the metar. This feature "will postpone weather downloads when the aircraft is close to the destination airport until the aircraft is on ground". I'll try it for a few flights and see if it does help. Anyone else have any observations on this?

  5. Started by Valcor,

Am I missing something in the settings to help prevent this? It is really jarring to an otherwise lovely program.I am using DWC, 5 layers, 50% cirrus, 20% stratus, Prevent Cloud Redraws and I have enabled Stratocumulus Simulation.

  7. I just upgraded to AS NEXT and FSX while flying the NGX freezes about every 5-6 seconds for about the same amount of time. I exited NEXT and the problem stopped, started it again and the problem re-appeared. Went back to AS2012 for now. Any ideas? Thanks, Doug Wilson

  8. Last night when flying above a broken clound layer with ASN active I noticed that the very top layer of the 3d clouds were poping up and down rapidly... It kinda reminded me of the old cloud popping issue but only the very top thin layer was exhibiting this behavior. Never saw this before running ASN. Had ASA and AS 2012 prior.

Posted Today, 08:39 AM Hi Everyone I have just purchased asn to compliment the PMDG B77L and B73X based on the glowing recommendations I have read around the AVSIM forums. I was wondering if ASN supports upper airways as some flightplans have up to 60 waypoints and if I have to enter each one it will take forever. I had a quick look when I launched the product for the first time and couldn't see a way to do it. I also looked in the manual and could find no mention of it either. If I inserted a departure and finish airport, altitude etc in ASN and then put my real world route into the B77L fmc will the correct winds/temps be placed correctly for a given waypoint consi…

  10. Started by stratfordman10,

Currently flying at 7,000 feet with the weather gauge active. The weather gauge shows me blanket cloud with precipitation below but the clouds shown are just centered around my aircraft with clear sky shown outside of this so I am obviously getting cloud popping as I move forward. I would have thought that the clouds would be in the distance and moving towards me and of course to the east and west too. Something does not feel right and I would welcome any observations or comments please.

  13. I've been flying across the Atlantic more with ASN than AS2012, but ASN does not seem to depict storms in the Atlantic ocean. Right now is a huge storm west of the British Isles and a large cloud front but as I approach Europe from the west in FSX I only see scattered clouds. Winds are correct but cloud cover is not. Looking at the map for ASN there are no clouds on the radar except near land. Is it possible to expand coverage more over the ocean? http://www.sat24.com/?culture=en

  14. Well flying into KMDW tonight and every weather source like NOAA, Fliightaware, Vatsim etc etc had the metar saying this. KMDW 300351Z 20014G24KT 10SM CLR M06/M14 A3004 RMK AO2 SLP192 T10611144 But ASN had the winds at 250 @ 14 and 30.19 in, it was not until I shut down ASN and restarted it that it got the weather right, Seems sometimes that it does this, like it just does not update. is there a force a full weather download option coming up in a SP. ?

I have a few questions about Active Sky like how the snapshot feature works and what to expect in weather changes when moving from airport to airport. Maybe someone could direct me to where I might get some of my questions answered? I have read their documentation and still have not figured everything out. I am using REX textures but when I move to another airport sometimes the clouds loose some of their texture like the FSrealWXlite clouds if you know what I mean. Just not sure what to expect with the program.

I am experiencing computer freezes using ASN, RC4, and FSX. These usually occur about 30 mins into the flight. I have excluded as_rv, as_btstrap.dll and as_connect.dll from Kaspersky AV.I am using FSUIPC 4.9.2 as recommended. My Affinity mask is set to 84 (4 cores, + HT).This has happened with different aircraft. I just ran a long flight using AS2012 and RA duke V2 and had no freezes or other problems. It appears that the problem only happens when running ASN. Dale

I currently am using Active Sky Next which is obviously a great weather engine. However, below say 10,000 feet the weather is accurate as per the in - flight weather gauge but when say flying at 30,000 plus and the gauge is showing me heavy cloud cover with precipitation below all I see is the clear ground view with no weather in evidence. When I am descending say below 10,000 feet the weather is there. I have been involved with the guys at Hi Fi Tech. but they have not come up with the answers. I am therefore wondering whether anyone else has experienced this issue or if anyone might have a solution. Many thanks in anticipation, this issue has been bugging m…

Hey, I have been playing around a lot with the settings in ASN... When I am in the terminal areas, my frames drop as low as 19 sometimes 15. With Active Sky 2012, and same texture set, I was getting upwards of 40 frames consistently considering the beast of a machine I've got. What gives do you think? Any ideas as for what to set to fix this issues in Active Sky NEXT? I tried reinstalling REX textures with DXT and no improvements. Kind of dissapointed in this because i love how ASN renders the clouds.
