Hallo all, I have in ASN map view all the time to spots for a location, a orange one and a blue one, for example PAKT (Ketchikan) one orange dot named PAKT and one blue one named PAKT with identical METAR info when I hover with the cursor over each one. Is this normal? Every hint/answer would be much appreciated. Cheers Rainer

I believe some have purchased Active Sky Next for P3D 2.1. My problem is that I cannot see a clear process to buy the P3D 2.1 version. There is a trial version which I have but the only product for Next on the Purchase page is shown as FSX only in red letters. I don't want to become stuck in one of those email exchange arguments with a vendor. Thus, does anyone know which link is to be used to purchase Active Sky Next?

This is more of an irritation than a real problem but ASN causes black/gray flashes in high level clouds (especially when panning around in the cockpit) Has anyone heard if ASN devs are going to fix the issue with black/gray flashes in the upper clouds in the upcoming Service pack?? Note: I don't have this issue when using REX-OD weather engine.

Hi, I seem unable to disable the thunder sound on startup. I've tried unticking the option "application sounds" under WX Options. Then I click "Save and Apply". But every time I start up AS2012 again, I hear the thunder sound and when I navigate back to "WX Options", the box is somehow ticked again. Am I doing something wrong? AS2012, SP2, Build 4826.

There's a new update for ASN. According to the change log on Hifi forums, there aren't a lot of changes, and the next update should be SP1 with lots of goodies and some new features. This update will not use up one of your activations. Hook

We've had some of the worst storms for years here in the UK over the past 24 hours. Gusts of up to 70mph here in the South East and lots of trees down. Both Heathrow and Gatwick had (and still have..) some major delays and cancellations. So the obvious thing to do last night was boot up FSX and ASN and go flying! Was very disappointed to find very little in the way of turbulence or wind-sheer once I took off from Biggin Hill and headed towards central London. Lots of nice cloud and rain but hardly any turbulence despite the atrocious weather and frightening looking METARS. Thinking I'd done something wrong I went into ASN settings and searched for some bad wea…

Anyone have the same Problem ? As Long as i fly in good and moderate weather conditions everything is fine but as soon as thunderstorms becomes visible the Framerate drops darmatically to 1-2 fps and vas fills up to 4gb within a Minute or 2. This happens with the Default FSX as well as with the Rex Textures. Running DX10. Turned down the visibility and Cloud drawing distance Options already but this dosn't make any difference. CPU and GPU around 60%

Just updated and was forced to re-activate software. I was told the limit is 10. Does this mean after 10 "hotfixes" I would need to purchase again? Quite frustrating that the software eats up its own activations when updating.

According to Hifi forums: http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?2726-ASN-for-FSX-Hotfix-2-Released&p=14539#post14539 You will probably be prompted to download this update the next time you start ASN. Hook

ASN competitors OPUS and FSGRW seem to work now with P3Dv2x, so what's about ASN? Please, could we have an official statement about the status and/or plans when P3Dv2 can be used with ASN. Thank You, Harry

Hello, anyone agrees with me? I've default settings for turbulence and sometimes it's impossible to control the airplane even in not-so-bad conditions (like scattered CB clouds without TS) Any suggest? Giorgio

Just want to know whether there are plans to integrate ASN in the ND of addons like the NGX, FS Labs A320 (not yet released) and so on... Maybe it still lacks the "tilt" function as well as some particularities of the Rockwell Collins weather radars. Teo Halfen

ASN was reporting wx for the 12th. Today is the 16th. Then I realized I was in manual wx mode. I changed it to "live" and the date is correct. My mistake.

Hey Guys, I have enjoyed ASN thoroughly on my primary computer. However now i have purchased a new windows 8.1 tablet and plan to network the table and use ASN over the network.I have read the horrors about SimConnect and now i am unable to get it to work. So far i have installed Simconnect in C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK from the fsx disk and then installed the subsequent service packs from the net as well as the acceleration patch.Installed the files from the lib folder on my tablet. Next i copied the files from the installation to the required folders.Mainly- C:\Users\Clinton\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files C:\Users\Clinton\AppData\Roamin…

Sorry didn't'didn't not save the log report but ASN keeps showing a message of a critical error. It gave me an option to send in the error report to you guys and I did, sorry for being so vague, next time it happens I will post the contents of the error here. This just starded recently, and its on every flight.

Do they work together??? I have Flight Environment X but today I bought Active Sky Next. I have uninstalled FEX but this has water features which I wouldn't mind keeping. Is there a way round this or can they both run together with the emphasis on Active Sky Next clouds/weather. Thanks Rick

Hi guys Standard max. vis is 150 and min. vis. is 75! How is the visibility in real, most of the time? Because if i set the visibility to standard with LOD 4.5 in FSX i got this! This is because lod 4.5 and the rendering terrain! On this picture sight is unlimited but with 150 max. visibility you will can see those blurries too! As a high flyer this is a no go! And i wanted to ask how does the auto ajust visibility works when i reduce the max. visibility! In my opinion visibility in ASN works complitly diffrent to AS 2012! on ground 35sm in AS 2012 gives a better sight than 75sm in ASN? i have at the moment max 60sm and min 40sm but looks a bit hazy! So... I'm using ASN with enhanced overcast and 5 cloud layers I own REX 3 OD and REX 4 Direct but I cannot find a good all around cloud set. Can you share your opinions on which cloud set works best with ASN? Or maybe there are other clouds out there which look better? From REX 4 I am using 1024x1024 32 bit cloud sets as they seem to be best compromise between performance and visuals. I know that each weather can be depicted best by different cloud settings, but TBH weather theme built in REX 4 does not work too good at least in my case.

Well, I have been having a very strange turbulence problem. I'm very pleased with ASN. I never used Active Sky weather before. Used another for a while but was never happy with it. Used OPUS, and was happy with it, but no weather generator I've used has ever modeled the normal turbulence of most air that I experience when flying light planes. ASN does. It also models lift so much better and I'm finally able to use my sailplanes in FSX. Very happy about that. But on four separate flights in light aircraft (RealAir Legacy and A2A C172) or gliders (Discus K and DG808) lately, at Jackson Hole and at Mt. Cook area in NZ, I have experienced catastrophic turbulence. Three diffe…

Hi folks! I just re-flew FR 9632 from LFOB to LIRA. SUN 2014-02-16 DEP 0820Z ARR 1025Z. LFOB BUBL6V BUBLI UQ217 HOC UQ331 ODINA UM727 AMTEL UL995 GIKIN CMP LIRA SID BUBL6V (RWY12) TRANS CMP (ILSZ15) It was one of the most amazing flights - considering cloud generation - I have ever experienced. (Using ASN!) So if you want some overcast views (ceiling/pillow) re-fly it yourself and expect the following: From departure in Beauvais/France SCT/BKN (3/8 to 5/8). Reaching swiss alpes BKN/OVC (7/8 to 8/8). So don't go there for sightseeing; you won't see too much... From Milan until ABM mediterranean sea OVC/BKN (8/8 to 5/8). Reaching Rome SCT/FEW (4/8 to 1/8). So…

Hi all, I just purchased ASN and it works great! But I have a problem with XGauge; I use it with IFly737NG in VC, and all works good if I leave the Xgauge windows docked in the virtual cockpit. If I try to undock the XGauge window to move it on another monitor, it does, but FSX graphics freezes, not the simulator, just the graphics, I can hear the engines noise changing if I move throttles, and all the other sounds are telling me that FSX is working, but on the screen nothing moves from the last position. Closing XGauge does not solve, I need to restart FSX. Anyone experienced the same problem? Mauro

New to ASN, but very familiar with previous versions. In the past, in order to avoid Sturns and other problems associated with Turbulence, we were instructed to make some changes to the FSX config file (turbulence scale) and the FSUIPC .ini file (2 values). Additionally, on my own experience I enabled certain settings in the FSUIPC gui to suppress gust and turbulence and smooth pressure changes. Can someone confirm that these changes are all a thing of the past, totally unnecessary, nor will have to do any "smoothing" from within FSUIPC? S-turns will not happen with PMDG aircraft when using ASN? If someone confirms this, then I'm going to set all those values …
