I don't see the cloud layer setting do anything in ASN. I had it at 10, then 5 and now 3, and I see no visual difference but most important I see no better framerates for having much lower cloud layers. Is there a bug in this setting?

Usually when I fly over a lot of clouds the colours will usually be from white to a dark grey all mixed up. It looks a bit unrealistic having grey and white clouds in such close proximity of each other when there is lots of cloud coverage and or a storm.

Is as_audio.exe part of your ASN program, and can I disable it from running? I don't have any of the audio features enabled.

I use ASE in Standard Mode since I want to get the most accurate wx possible. But...I find the "sky flashing" that comes with standard mode annoying. I know this is a function of ASE using simconnect to get the wx from their servers. My understanding is that the other modes in ASE don't give you the most accurate wx but, on the positive side, you don't get the sky flashing either. Have I got any other options? What about upgrading to ASN? Any advice welcome.

The other day in YMLT, ASN told me it was raining there. But, parking at the ramp at Launceston, FSX wouldn't "produce" any rain visible from my flightdeck. A little bit later, during my runway entry procedure, "(...) and then the rain began to fall" (anyone who still remembers ...). Must have been a matter of precise cloud placement and, therefore, precise "rain placement". Impressive ...

Edit - Never mind...bad idea on my part. But really now, ASN is FANTASTIC; thus I should have nothing to complain about!!!

Hello everyone. For those of you that use ASN, have you had any issues lately? Any CTD's or similar? When I used the trial right after it came out, I did get a couple CTDs during that week of evaluation. Something that doesn't and hasn't happened that often before or since using ASN. However, with my current weather engine seemingly getting worse when it comes to "smooth" flight from departure to arrival, I am seriously thinking of going to ASN. I'm just a little apprehensive based on the week of trial.

When you purchase the upgrade it still shows both programs. Should you delete AS 2012? To add, I flew ASN for the first time last Sunday. Love it. It seemed to even enhance the sound set. True or false?

Hi all! Just bought Activesky 2012 recently and I'm trying to find the right settings to fly with Vatsim. Are there some recommended settings? Is it recommended to use the High altitude profile? Or just make your own? Thanks, Daan

So I just bought Active sky next not too long ago and I keep getting FSX fatal errors. Sometimes in mid flight or right after takeoff. I have all the settings set to default. I was just flying at FL320 and all of a sudden got the spinning circle and message with fsx fatal error. Then I got the Error message from ASN. the "cannot control ambient weather paramaters correctly." message. I don't have a security program running. I have microsoft security essentials but the protection is turned off so that should be affecting these as_srv folders etc. I have ASN installed on my S: drive as well so it is not in the Program files (x86) folder. Can anybody help? When ASN …

Hello... It's been a while since the last time i used FSX, but recently ive installed all my add-ons, including ASX, it happens that i was having trouble with the realtime download of weather data, and after a little research on internet, ive found no practical answers, however, i've decided to purchase the AS_Next upgrade since it comes with a discount for older users as me.. Read the reviews and progress development sounded all good, until i installed it.. Now i cannot start the FSX as it crashes all the time, the faulty module is "mscorwks.dll" which somehow looks like it is related with Net.framework.. Checked my framework installations, and i have them all fine and f…

I'd like to hear what people have set for the various ASN settings. For example I notice the default cloud draw distance is 90, but the upper visibility default is 150. So that means I can see 150 miles all around in a clear day, yet I will only see clouds for 90 miles? That kind of sounds stupid. So do I have to set clouds to 150 if I want proper cloud coverage? It is confusing since in-game the settings for vis and clouds are only up to 110mi.

I have recently tried to start using Active Sky 2012 while flying on VATSIM, but I have run into an issue where my speed jumps during climbs and descents. I use FSInn to connect to the server and I turned the FSInn weather off in my settings; I also use the PMDG 737NGX. It happens during my climb between 11,000ft and FL210 then it will stop. When I start my descent it starts up again at FL210 and continues until I land. During the climbs it jumps up by 10 knots and it will constantly jump between the speed I set my aircraft to and 10 knots above that (ex. Speed is set to 310 knots speed will jump between 310 and 320). During the descent it isn't quite as bad as it only ju…

Hi, I didn't use the ticket system as this is just a general question and I just have the ASN trial at the moment (I will for sure buy it though as soon as the trial runs out!). Anyways, I always felt that the skies were to empty at cruising ALT. I have AS 2012, but it always seemed that no clouds made it higher than 25K-30K at best. In real life, pilots have to regularly avoid CB's that can tower up to 50K. I completely understand if this is not possible in FSX, and I used the ASN map to look in the areas of SIGMETS and turned the echo tops function on, and no clouds ever seem to go above 30K (they appear purple meaning 30K). So, is it possible to simulate high alt …

Have been an active sky user for a long period until I got caught in the Opus hype. Now with the new version It seemed all very good so I got your trial version yesterday . I did install ASN on a second computer and was very disappointed about your minimalistic instructions on setting up. Needed to go left and right on the various forums to get the ins and outs of the simconnect and sdk stuff. Got that behind me now. Next ASN kept compaining that it could not install a module and it needed access to my flightsim folder . Have been working on opening ports. Right after I think I succeeded in opening the requested port ASN wanted a new key. Just 10 mins ago it still stated…

I have FSX setting in FSX Weather menu to 80/mi... In ASN it's set to the (default) 90/90mi as far as max and min cloud draw distance. Should all three be set the same distance? What setting do you all run? I know most run in FSX menu with 70/mi for performance and realistic visibility (IIRC). Thanks!

I have full version of AS2012 with SP2. Now i am checking trial of NEXT. What i have noticed is that both programs are giving totally different sky outlook. Amount and cloud type is totally different, whole sky looks different depend on which program is generating weather. I am checking both programs with same location and time. Now to be honest i am a bit confused,, which weather engine is correct - generated by AS2012 or by NEXT ?

Hello everyone, For some days I experience some black sky in daylight. What I do before flying, I upload the FP in AS2012 to install weather textures, close it, open ASN then FSX. I don't have any shader thing installed as far as I know. I googled that I found many posts about that shader thing being guilty. I had a look at /FSX/ found something called shadersHLSL, and inside, found a file called "Swarmcloud .fx.before ASN.". Could that be the origin of that thing ? Some more information: clouds are there (white/grey), when I change location with new textures, day is there. So this appears to be random, and maybe influenced by textures changes. …

Am I supposed to Disable this setting in the FSX Weather menu in FSX when running ASN? Does ASN simulate these effects based on the weather independantly from FSX? Thanks!
