Hi guys,I'm just wondering what would be the best way to start up activesky and FS9 so that once i have the airport loaded all the weather would be loaded especially the wind as this determines the runway in use. Sometimes when the wind is loaded for example on an airfield with runway 16/34 the winds at first was 300 so obviously atc would choose active rwy to be 34 then when activesky loads the weather into FS9 the winds become 170 then active rwy should become 16 but FS9 doesn't change react to the change.thanks~EIen

the next build coming along. Its taking longer than usual so i'm just curious. Usually from one build to another it seemed faster. Is there new problems that may have cropped up?

Hi all,We are actively troubleshooting some problems as reported in B175, including occasional temperature fluctiations, force destiation zone cloud pops and a few other minor things. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are working on it and plan to release a new update within the next few days. Thanks!

I was flying San Francisco to Miami at FL370 tonight and every time I'd fly into an area with different winds aloft as indicated by ActiveSky, the wind in the FS9 would drop to a value well below what was reported by either the previous, or new station in the AS winds aloft window. The Only solution was to hit refresh, and after the write was complete the winds would increase back to the reported weather. This problem was exacerbated by the very strong jet stream over the southwest US. The wind would drop from around 120 to around 35 knots or so, then back up after the refresh, even though all the high level winds reported in AS near my level were well in the hundreds. Th…

Will the weather at the arrival airport be the same as what was downloaded or will it be whatever wx was reported at that station at that time? Just curious i have to test something.......

Hi Jim or Damian i made this thread so others and myself can subscribe it and get an email when the new build comes out, since there is no mailing list. I'm not flying until a new build is out (my preference). It is totally unrealistic at the moment. I know you guys are working hard at it. A few builds ago everything was perfect.Anyway if this thread is still here by the time of releasing the new build care to let me know or others who join here.If i'm asking for too much i understand. Thanks!

Hi Jim and Damian,I seem to have some nasty cloud formations lately (see pic). They are flat, always low to the ground, they shimmer and they don't fit in with all the other clouds. I have 3D clouds at 100%, detailed clouds and cloud coverage at max. I am using FS Sky World cloud packs.I will include AS2004.ini also. What can I do to make those yakkie clouds dissapear forever?Another question; what setting must be used to get rid of this "following" fog on the ground?Thanks!//AS2004.5 configuration file B175[General]WindowPosX = 3825WindowPosY = 5160DefaultWeatherFolder = F:Flight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 4000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit…

As there is a toggle to either suppress local updates or all updates while on the ground, would it be possible to have a toggle like this to suppress all updates when below the suppression altitude instead of just suppressing local updates? The reason I ask and suggest this is because whether Active Sky is loading local updates or updates that are several hundred miles away, it still causes stutters. Some times I'm coming in for a landing and everything is smooth, then Active Sky hits that 10 minute time interval for loading updates, and although I have local suppression checked off at the default altitude, it still begins to load the weather at the other stations which ca…

I noticed that the manual that comes with Activesky wxRE software only referes to the proper FSUIPC settings for MSFS2002. I have a registered copy of FSUIPC 3.411. What are the proper tab options and settings (winds, visibility, clouds, technical etc) for MSFS2004. Is there a link that I can go to to view this?I noticed also that the weather (cloud formations and dissipation)changes rather abruptly from time to time. Finally, I don't really experience the animated cockpit effects of wind shear, wake turbulence either.Any help would be appreciated.:-)

Would it be possible to get the info on just what is not being done now w/the free version of fsuipc 3.47? I seem to detect less gradual decrease in visibility ever since the minimal weather button was removed. I use to get intermittent showers when flying through clouds, more turbulence around storms, and when coming out of a storm it was amazing how the skies would clear gradually. Now it seems to happen "all of a sudden". So could you be so kind as to list which functions are no longer supported and what changes there are now for those of us who still use the free version of FSUIPC? Don't mean to ruffle anyones' feathers, but I think it's a fair question. I've been a u…

Slipped away from FS for a while {temp loss of sanity}. Just built a new machine and reloaded Windows. All is working well.Loaded AS 2004.5 b175 with registered FSUIPC 3.47. All works great except the program won't download, it finds the closest station and attempts, but stops responding according to task manager, but gives no message. It works fine if I uncheck online updates. My DSL internet connection is working fine. Thanks,Ken

It has been a while since my last flight, but this problem keeps appearing since some versions (at least before last update which is -in my case- 174).Attached a photo. In words: it often happens that the ActiveSky window shows strange stations (ie haveing nothing to do with my actual position) with the tag "invalid".What can you tell me?PS actually file numered 2 comes before file numbered 1.

Until the next build comes out. I'm getting a list of problems with 175 and Jim and Damian i'm sure are aware of them. But anyway b174 seemed to work very well.

Hey guys,I just downloaded Build 175 and tried to install it. When I click the button to install, the progress bar advances about 2/3 of the way and then stops and says "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." The file it is looking for is Activesky2004.5 Update.msi. When I manually enter in the location of the file "C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorLocal SettingsTemp_is86" where the file is indeed located (I verified this to be sure, and it IS there), it then gives me error message 1714, something to the effect that an older update of ActiveSky cannot be removed and then terminates the installation. How to fix?

I am trying to use small clouds in 32bits with render to texturize off. But the FS9 close at 77%.Any help?Sandro Becker

HiI had a problem in my computer and I did format C recently. After a clean instalation of FS 2004, certain sceneries and also active sky didnt work anymore.Even after uninstalling Active Sky, I get the message "AS 2004 - FS disconnected" when I load the weather. I have version 3.4.1.1. of fsuipc, and it seems that everything is correctly installed. Any solutions?harpsi

When tuning to flightwatch for the destination wx rpt, they are still giving the visiblity reports of say 45 miles! Wasn't there going to be a change to that to have it report no greater than 10 miles?

I am getting severe frame rate hits during weather update! I am using a medium/high end system and AS defaults. The fps are dropping from the high thirties to 3 or less. Do any others experience this? Does anyone have a fix? This copied from FAQ:"Does AS2004.5 effect performance?AS2004.5 by itself does not generally cause a noticeable performance hit. Certain unavoidable hits, such as doing actual FS weather writes, are intelligently handled via efficient write processes and update suppression to keep stutters away during critical phases of your flight".//AS2004.5 configuration file B175[General]WindowPosX = 45WindowPosY = 825DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft…

If I can make a suggestion in regard to the problem of weather specials and the altmeter going from the real pressure to the std 2992. Could not the software look at the time of the metar. Specials are always something like 131045z 131220z etc. while the metar with the altmeter setting is always on the hour 131200z 131000z etc. at least here in Canada. So by looking at the 5 and 6 digits of the day/time of the metar to see if they are = 0 or not could tell the program to keep the altmeter setting or change it. Just a thought. Maybe its not that easy on the programing side of things:)Brian(CYYT)

Hi Jim and Damian,It's been awhile, but I'm back with two questions:1) I hardly see any high cirrus clouds being drawn. I didn't disable them in AS, but I also didn't enable them in FSUIPC. What is the correct setting for this?2) Lately, I've been using downloaded archive weather, but it seems I only get two files a day, no matter what UTC time I insert. For example: if I want weather for 17.00 hours UTC time, I'll get 12Z or 6Z. If I enter another time I'll get the same. Is this correct?I found that using downloaded archive weather together with TAF processing gives me less rapidly changing weather. I also have installed FS Sky World (finally!) and I must say I am impres…

Can the archive weather be downloaded in mass by the year, month or week instead of by the hour?

During my last flight I noticed that a weather fetch for my destination airport (EKCH) returned a METAR from station ETNL. The TAF seems to be OK though. Is this something at my end? I am running latest builds of AS2004 and FSUIPC with standard settings. See screenshot for an example:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/109654.jpgThanks for any suggestion!
