I haven't had AS long, and I have been searching for a plain language interpretation of weather reports. I used FSMeteo for some time, and was always glad this feature was included. Is plain language available in AS?...lee

Hi Guys,I have a strange problem with the latest build. I suddenly sometimes get some violent winds for a second or two that always come from the left side of the plane. Regardless of the wind direction FS shows. I reverted back to an older version of AS and the problem is gone. I have tested this for hours. This also seems to happen completely regardless of any wind smoothing setings in FSUIPC.Alex

Hi Guys,I just purchased AS2004.5 and I can't seem to get it working right.I followed all the FS2004 set up instructions and loaded in the latest version of FSUIPC that came with it.I can download and save METAR files fine, and load them into AS2004.5 with no problem. I choose to fly off line. I can import and load the flight plan with no problem. When I flew for the first time, I loaded in a clear sky METAR for the area. Every time I try to fly I keep getting the same weather. No clouds, even though I fly in areas that have heavy cloud cover on national radar.I hit the Clear All Weather button in FSUIPC the press ALT/ENTERwhich minimises and pauses FS. Go to AS and hit REF…

I've been primarily a low-and-slow VFR flier, but I recently purchased the EagleSoft Citation X and I am being introduced to cruising at altitude.I have been fiddling with the settings because I've discovered that my previous settings might not be appropriate for cruising at upwards of 40,000 feet. The visibility limits didn't seem to be working at that altutide. This resulted in a visible end to the cloud layers even if the weather should have been overcast to the horizon. I could turn up my cloud visibility settings, of course, but that had the expected severe impact on performance. ... after doing a bit of research, I unchecked the FS9 Haze Layer and that seemed to br…

I see a lot of posts on this topic and I am still a little confused, overnight, I crossed the pond on a flight from LFPG TO KMIA.I had constant wind changes where my IAS (which was set on auto-pilot at 260) would be constantly changing from a low of 250 to over 300 which was triggering the overspeed alarm. It seemed to me it was consistently moving in the 260-270 range but I did experience frequent changes in the high low range stated above.I do have the latest vesion of FSUIPC (3.45) registered, I also have wind smoothing checked with 5kts per second checked, I also have allow gusts in upper winds checked. This evenings flight was at FL 380. Any thoughts how I can minimi…

Good day. I have noticed something in this release. May have been present in the others, but I didnt notice it. When processing a flightplan thru AS, if I change the flight level, when the navigation log comes up it still shows the original flight level, not my newly entered one. The average winds/wind speed still shows for the original flight level. So, I dont know if is giving the new level average or the old. Just fyi.-Rick

HI Folks,I posted this on the wrong forum earlier...sorry. I'm having a strange issue with AS since my download and install of the upgrade two days ago.Although initially it ran fine, FS now stalls out when I attempt to go from windowed to full screen mode when AS is running. Without AS, all is well, so I suspect some sort of conflict.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. but no luck. The very strange thing is that once or twice it has run correctly, so I'm stumped.Any thoughts??Thanks in advance,Bill

HI Folks,I'm an enthusiastic user of AS and recently installed latest upgrade. Things ran fine for a few days but in the last two I have enountered an issue in which I can only fly with AS running if FS 2004 is in the windows mode. When I alt-enter to full screen FS goes black and freezes there. However, I can close out of both AS and FS.I have tried reinstalling AS and got it to work properly one or two times but it eventually quits. FS is totally normal without AS running and AS seems to load and ready itself normally. I'm lost short of a total reinstall. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.Bill Spence

I hope that this post is considered within the scope of this forum, but I figured that this is where I would be most likely to find someone with the skill and interest to help me with my problem.Solving the wind vector triangle, I came up with this formula: Ground speed = Square root of (wind speed squared + true airspeed squared - 2 x wind speed x true airspeed x cosine (wind direction - track))On a flight where TAS 250, Wind 270/55, Track 139With a calculator I get an answer of Ground speed = 288.7 kts. This agrees with a solution worked out on my Aristo AVIAT 617 (Wizz wheel) nav computer which showed 289 kts.My Sporty's E6B "Electronic Flight Computer" comes up with an…

HI!! I flew another time into KSLC (Salt Lake City, Utah), and the weather was strange. Just like the last flight I did into SLC, the wind starts to shift all over the place between BCE and FFU VORs. At the beginning of the flight the nav log stated that the wind at SLC was 150 at 5. The AR just reported 360/0. About the time I started my descent into SLC, the AR stated 150 at 8. So I planned for an approach into that wind. Well, about 9000 feet the weather went clear! 29.92, not 30.08 as it was shown all along, and the sky was completely clear. Even the wind was gone!? This happens a lot now. Is their a clear problem with the destination force as the other thr…

Hi. I am the exact same problem that another user experienced and posted about on Tue Feb-01-05 12:31 AM in under the subject: " ActiveSky 2004.5 Won't Connect w/ Flightsim ""...ActiveSky 2004.5 won't connect with FS2004 on my computer. FSUIPC is installed (and registered...but that shouldn't affect it), but after importing a flightplan to AS2004.5 and/or clicking Refresh, it reminds me to load FS and it says in the upper left hand corner that it is not connected. Any ideas?..."I am already using the FSUIPC 3.45 supplied with ActiveSky and it's still not working, so the fix described in that thread isn't solving my problem. Nothing seems to work. I have tried every con…

When using VoxATC with ActiveSky, the ATIS report always has the departure airport dewpoint at zero. I'm using build 174 and FSUIPC 3.45. The dewpoint is correct when using FS weather. I'm curious if anyone else has, or had, this problem, and if there's a correction. Thanks, keith

Independently they are both top addons, however, together they don't quite get along. Wind changes in the weather produce substantial changes in airspeed, mostly an overspeed, requiring almost constant throttle adjustment. I have my throttles calibrated and using the latest build of Active Sky. Any ideas as to how I can improve this situation ( I know that similar issues have been covered before). I also have the registered (latest) version of FSUIPC.thanks.ricardo

I've tried everything possible to get Activesky to work properly since I purchased the product in December but it continually causes a CTD in around 50% of flights. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, I've removed or disabled all addons, I've installed the latest drivers for my video card, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled FS9 itself. All to no avail. FS9 works perfectly using the built in weather options including the Real Weather downloads but Activesky is causing the program to CTD. Having read all the previous posts on this subject and the FAQ's and acted on all that were relevant I am now completely stumped as to where I go now to fix this problem once and for a…

With the latest build I'm having issues with forced destination weather. It seems that it's not working until about 4-5 miles out on final or after landing. This is even more obvious with bad weather and limited visibility METARs.I'm also seeing more invalid METARs. Yesterday I was flying in the UK with some lousy weather and I was getting invalid weather, so there was no weather, it was all nice and clear, even though the METAR for the area was overcast, rain, etc.My setupFS2004 with a registered version of FSUIPC version 3.45//AS2004.5 configuration file B174[General]WindowPosX = 5160WindowPosY = 5205DefaultWeatherFolder = E:FS2004ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeili…

I noticed something strange in my Nav Log printout for a flight from Kunming China (ZPPP) to Chabua India (VECA). The FSNav flightplan lists the flight 509 miles. I exported the plan to FS and then imported it into Active Sky (latest version). When I print out the Nav Log it has all the correct waypoints and distances except for the last one, the arrival airport VECA. It should have been 4.7 miles from the previous NDB, but Active Sky's log gives a distance of 3389 miles. The ID is still listed as VECA. I thought that maybe the FSNav plan had been imported incorrectly by FS9, but that is not the case. The MS Nav Log agrees with FSNav.A similar problem happened with…

Hi all,I purchased Active Sky on 31 January 2005, followed by a hassle free installation and the most amazing sim ehancement I have ever seen. (Simming since fs5 circa 1983?) WELL DONE all concerned for this complex breath of fresh air.Moved ActiveRadar.dll out of the modules folder in short order, suspicious of a frame rate hit (on my system I hasten to add lest anyone suggest that this fine generously included program is indeed guilty).Downloaded AS20045-Update.zip as instructed at the top of this forum. After a smooth installation, I moved the ActiveRadar.dll out again, noting that the file version was unchanged - no worries, it must have been unaffected by the update,…

Having a problem with AS2004.5 up 2 not importing FS9 flightplans. Some load some don't. The problem was identified in an earlier thread, but there didn't seem to be much interest in resolving it. The flightplans that don't import have position with "degree" indicators, while the ones that import use *:N035
