Hi,I'm building up my new system. I bought AS2004 quite a while ago and updated it ever since. Now i have to install it completely new. How to go? Starting with HIFI-AS2004.zip. I remember the last time i did this i needed a lot of patches and updates. So what is the only correct install order from AS2004 to AS20045-b173.zip?Thanks in advanceGreetings Eric10 miles from EHAM

I've used Activesky from waaay back and this is a first for me. I installed the latest build, and it gave me a second execution folder in my programs list. So now when I click on programs, I have two AS2004 entries. Should I drag them all into one folder and delete one folder? Should I have uninstalled the b.172 before upgrading? Should I just delete the old entry in my program list? Wha' happened?See pics. The lower ActiveSky folder is the latest upgrade. Perhaps because the old one is called AS2004 and the new one is called AS2004.5 it gave it a new program entry?

Hello,Yesterday I have the Activesky programme though i really do not know what to do with the settings and checkboxes of the system.I downloaded the recent version of Dawson's FSUIPC (recent version 3.45) a zip file including some other files hhave arrived and I only used the FSUIPC.dll file among others of the zip file thus copy&pasted to the modules folder of FS9. Now what should i do with the settings ? What must be done with activersky checkboxes or other applications regardless of active sky in order to obtain realism in conformity with the uptodate real life weather condition. Can you perhaps send me a file for how settings section of the programme should look f…

Thanks Jim and Damian for the excellent support!I finally uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled from scratch AS2004.5 and AR. AR removal and reinstall alone didn't seem to fix my erroneous numbers issue. Now the pressure and other strange reports are more accurate. What is the radar wind arrow giving in knots? Surface speed? Thanks again!

Just wondering if the winds aloft data is lagging behind the real world data. I ask because I used to notice it was fairly accurate when compared to the data below, but currently it's out by a fair amount. Yesterday on a flight the FS winds were way off from what the flightplan (Both Navtech and Fltplan.com for the time of flight) predicted. It's usally pretty darn close which is one reason I love Activesky! For example:AS2004.5 B172 active WX 04 1850Z, SFO:FL030: 154/39 (12.60)FL060: 160/44 (8.20)FL090: 162/45 (4.80)FL120: 170/42 (-5.80)FL180: 168/46 (-19.60)FL240: 167/42 (-31.30)FL300: 159/53 (-47.30) Spot winds for SFO current time 2000Z,SFO, N37372W12222403000 5010…

Hello all,I am teetering on the brink of purchasing Active Sky. After having reviewed the FAQ's and searched the Active Sky forum I'm unable to find an answer to the following question which I would most appreciate help with.PRESSURE ALTITUDE is the altitude indicated on your altimeter when you maintain a flight altitude or flight level in relation to a constant barometric setting in the Kollsman window of your altimeter such as 29.92 inches. As you fly across areas of high and low pressure your ACTUAL ALTITUDE will very as the pressure gradient or slope you are flying through raises or falls.ACTUAL ALTITUDE is your actual altitude above mean sea level (MSL) and can b…

TRACKIf I compare an FS9 nav log to the AS nav log (of an imported FS9 flight plan) the Magnetic tracks don't agree precisely.I have long held that FS9 shows the INITIAL not AVERAGE track, and it seems that AS uses the better method of an average track for the route leg. Can anyone confirm?WIND VECTORPlease confirm that wind directions (aloft) are shown in degrees true. (To be sure.... to be sure...) TEMPA quick search of previous post revealed much ado about OAT, so I hope I'm not "flogging a dead horse" here. When flying a certain payware twin turbo-prop, which (before everybody shouts at me in unison) has both OAT and TAT indications, I find the OAT at around FL200 to b…

On a recent flight from KPVD to KPHX on a PSS 320, I experienced loss of lift @ FL360 and the aircraft rolled to the right. I duplicated this situation on two successive flights on the same route at around the same location -- just right after ABQ. I have AS2004.5 (latest version) installed. Unfortunately, the situation was unrecoverable and the craft broke up in mid-air due to the stress from the ensuing dive. I've read various posts online about wake turbulence, and I'm wondering whether this could have been the cause as the events I've experienced are similar -- nose pitch up, loss of altitude, excessive roll. The one thing that I find strange, however, is that al…

Hi! I used to use wxRE in 2002 but bought it towards the end of my running 2002, so I never became very knowledgeable about this weather stuff.Just purchased the wonderful AS2004.5 last night now that my computer can handle weather, LOL.I loaded a flight tonight after setting up AS the way I wanted it, and I set out to ABQ from PHX in the PMDG 737. Everything was fine as far as I can tell, although I think the sky is rather clear right now. Two things. The weather at ABQ didn't seem to completely stay the same after crossing that 100nm zone. The altimeter was 30.38 and the wind was about 024/04, however when closing in to the ILS the wind was reported as 010/08. I s…

  11. Just letting you guys at activesky know. Its off by 15 degrees and i updated active radar constantly and still get the deviation. Only in the wind direction everything else is accurate. What could be the problem?

  12. Not sure about this but those wiggles seem to not have been there in the past not sure if it was because of previous builds or maybe I just haven't ran into low ceilings in a long while, because it seems now i get them everywhere (todays flight). Also the mountain tops wiggle, i could swear i haven't seen this in a long time. Is it just me or something else?? Correct me if no fix was found for this and I have to live with it.Thanks! p.s. B172 going pretty good so far!!!

Hi guysI flew into Bali today and had some issues. I also flew over Bali a few weeks ago and noticed the same behavior.when I fetched WRRR the response wasWAAA 021900Z etc.as I approached Bali, the active station became WRRR 000000Z weird wx 13005 9999 05/01 2990 something must really be wrong if it is 5 in Bali :-)after landing, out of curiosity I downloaded Jeppesen wx and it was 25 :-)I fly all over the world, and the only other place I've seen this was Tahiti which you guys fixed. Hopefully this is just a database issue.ThanksChris

Hi thereThere's a bit of a discussion going on over at VATSIM about ActiveSky 2004, WxRE & VATSIM.So I thought I'd ask the experts. When I'm flying online with Squawkbox 2.3 and WxRE on 2K2, should, or shouldn't I have TAF processing turned on?Looking forward to a Yes or No from the makers of one of my favourite add-ons!Regards all!http://online.vatsimindicators.net/916312/3.png

  17. I skipped over b163 and would love to help test b172?Also when installing to I click on modify or repair when installing active radar v1.2?What are the benefits to having the latest fsuipc.dll file (just curious)? While on topic in short what is wideFS may be useful for me?

Greetings,I used to fly out of Sacramento, CA. This time of year a fog pattern typically sets in. The top of the fog is normally around 2000 feet.Above the fog it is usually clear. I get the fog with Active Sky. But the tops are undefined. Between FSUIPC and Active Sky is there a setting that will simulate such a fog situation? Thanks,Bill Worth

Hi All:I am going to install Activesky version 172B and in the event that I screw up realize that I will likely have to reinstall AS using the original zip file.Problem I checked my download folders and there are several AS Zip files.Several months ago I mistakenly deleted the original zip file when I purchased a new computer and Jim from the support team was nice enough to Email me the proper Zip File. Can someone give me the extension of the Zip file so that I can find it in the event that I do have to re-install.Hopefully this won't happen just in case.Sorry to be a pain.Kenny G.

Hi,ActiveSky 2004.5 won't connect with FS2004 on my computer. FSUIPC is installed (and registered...but that shouldn't affect it), but after importing a flightplan to AS2004.5 and/or clicking Refresh, it reminds me to load FS and it says in the upper left hand corner that it is not connected. Any ideas? FS2004 w/o 9.1 installed and fsuipc 3.45Thanks!~Adam

Hi all!If you have any problems using AS2004.5, please read through this FAQ and search through the forum before posting a new support thread. The answer you need may be here already! The Official ActiveSky2004.5 (AS2004.5) Support FAQUpdated 1/28/2005-Is AS2004.5 compatible with FS2002?No, it is not. AS2004.5 is compatible with FS2004 ONLY, due to the new station-based structure of the AS2004.5 weather engine.--Can I run AS2004.5 on WideFS?Yes, AS2004.5 can run via WideFS on another computer other than your FS computer. Damian/Jim:Don't know why but when I run 172b I get a perpetual error on WideClient connection saying "must have 3.45 in the FS9Modules folder. I have that pathed from the client, it has the install versions (which I usually remove) but it can't see it. I've just spent two-days re-installing "everything" ;-) to a new RAID PC, and all was well. Asky was running fine prior to the 172, so I put 163 back in place and still get the same error.Any ideas?- Ron McLeod CYEG
