First off, I just want to say how impressed I am with this product. Having held off buying it because of the current US Dollar-Euro situation, I finally bought ActiveSky 2004.5 today. I do have a little question concerning the visibility and haze, though. For example, the first flight I loaded up was one that takes off from my home airport of KLGU. At the time, the metar was reading 8 SM visibility and clear skies. After this was processed, I had a fog/haze layer that gave 8 miles visibility, but it also gave a grey sky/overcast view. I read through the manual, and tried a search here to see if this has come up before, and it seems it hasn't. If it has, I apologize. My set…

Greetings to all.....I am a fairly new user of AS2004.5 and I have to say I am disappointed with the terrible performance hit I get on my PC. I never had any issues with performance with AS WRXE but I sure get clobbered with AS2004.5. I have an Athlon 3200 64, 1G DDR RAM and an ATI 9800 Pro, so performance should not really be an issue. But it is.......I have my frame rates locked at 35 and with WRXE I could achieve this rate most of the time. Upon purchasing AS2004.5, I noticed a real hit, often down to 9-12 FPS in the air, and about 15 on the ground. What I really noticed was that when the program was UPDATING itself, that was when things went down. If the program updat…

If not this is a cool feature and important in aviation. This would make it much more realistic and seems simple to do. I mean we have rain and snow. Thanks!

There is someting that puzzles me regaring weather in Athens. For those who don't know here's some background on past private emails with Damian.LGAT Athens old closed airport has a weather station in FS9. LGAV the new one (10nm East of LGAT) does not have a WX station in FS9. Damian aliased LGAT station to LGAV real METARs and now you receive weather still coded LGAT but in RMK section it says ... RMK SOURCE ID LGAV. This means Damian is using LGAT FS9 WX station to import LGAV real weather. IF LGAT was still in operation we would have problems but luckily LGAT does not update (real) METARs any more. Now to the observation.Damian I checked the MR1 files after installation …

Today, knowing the weather was really nasty around Edinburgh - England, I decided to load fs9, start AS2004.5 and fly my belovered DF727-200 (DHL livery).Ok, fs9 loaded, a few seconds later I heard the AS activation thunder sound and the baro and clouds adapted correctly to the active METAR. I used ALT-Tab to visit the AS window and check the METAR myself, and it was indicating winds at 28 gusting 36 from 255.Back to fs9 the wind did blow from around 255, but at a mere 5knots. Since I had taxi wind activated in FSUIPC (registered v3.44) I deactivated it, and went to AS's window again, selected the Options screen and made sure 12knots surface winds were enabled.Well, back …

Hi!Back in December one of the Beta testers had a problem with WideFS. Pete Dowson has a new version of both client & server 644.2, etc., in which he's trying to fix a repetative error. You're probably aware of this one. Anyway, I tried using the updates this morning, and the errors are still there. In particular, the error causes the client, to repeatedly re-connect, fail, get a connect, run for a while, and then fail, and try a reconnect. See below:********* WideClient Log [version 6.442] Class=FS98MAIN *********Date (dmy): 11/01/05, Time 09:51:29.796: Client name is PENTIUM1 125 Attempting to connect now 141 Trying TCP/IP host "Pentium4" port 8002 ..…

Since installing 163, I appear to be getting my destination WX way too late. This is happening only in the last couple of weeks. Today I wanted to do an approach into LAX. I had Force destination WX on, and I was darn near on the ground before getting the crappy WX I was expection. I actually did not get the rain until on 25R?I have had some networking issues with FSUIPC, but I've worked that out with Pete. I wonder if anyone has the preferred FUIPC settings and those on FS itself handy? Thanks in advance!- Ron McLeod CYEGO/S WIN-XP PROFSUIPC REG with WideFS latest driversASUS P4 INTEL 3.0 CPU 2048 400DDR RAM

Hey Damian, and everyone else on the team,Just had another gratifying flight. It was the flight from LeVersold (LFLG) to Caselle (LIMF) via Courchevel (LFLJ) and LIMW, as depicted in the new XTreme Bush Adventures that have been uploaded to Avsim. I sure hope these extreme adventures continue. But the reason I have posted here is just to let you know how amazing it is to fly into an airport that is depicting 4 mile visibility and see it shrouded in haze, and as you descend the visibility gradually envelops your aircraft till you are at that 4 mile forcast. It truly is amazing. Thanx for this excellent program. Whenever I have a flight like this I immediately think of the …

My clouds at night look like they are from a cartoon. Very unrealistic. The clouds during the day look perfect, but at night they look like they are from fltsim 98. This happens w/or without active sky, but since this is a weather forum I though maybe someone would know the way to fix this! Thanks.

HiThis is my first post at this forum.I've have been a long time user of this incredible software and I haven't had much problems using it, but today I tryed to take a flight at ENZV with this metar in use;ENZV 081520Z 31036G47KT 9000 SHRA FEW010 BKN014 05/03 Q0970 TEMPO 3000 SHRASNGSThe problem I encountered was that I couldn't set the baro correctly in FS when I used the "B" key. All I got was 1014, and the FS ATIS reported 1013. (wind directions and all other information was correct)I can tell you that yesterday i did a complete re-install of AS because I moved the FS catalog from the C drive to the D drive. After the transfer the flightsim works great as it always has:…

What I would like to do is to have all the weather around my destination airport, say for example, a 25 mile or 30 mile radius be the weather thats at the airport. In an area with multiple reporting stations, it seems you can be in clear weather starting your approach, then be at minimums when you get with 5 miles of the airport. Can I get ACtive Sky to disregard the other reporting stations within a specified area>Thanks!Rick

Hi,I'm using ActiveSky severall month now and there is something that seems very strange. I'm not able to fly my PSS Airbus A330-300 back to Europe from MDPC (Punta Cana, Dom.Rep.). At about 800nm from MDPC, heading 059, first I get an overspeed warning afterwards my aircraft crash. I tried this route severall time and downloading different metears with ActiveSky but without a result. I tried this flight four times now and my aircraft crash always at the same distance from MDPC. Anybody has a clue why this happen?Has it something to do with ActiveSky? Do I have to change any options in ActiveSky or FSUIPC?I use AC2005.5 Build 163 and the latest FSUIPC, 3.44. ThanksConstan…

Hi everyone.Have installed Activesky with the latest beta build and FSUPIC but seem to be getting an issue with the weather that is shown in the metar versus the weather displayed.Been noticing recently that I do not get the correct cloud cover. For example when the metar shows 21/22 I get almost clear skies. My understanding of this parameter is that it means the sky is nearly overcast (or maybe I am wrong and its the other way round?)I am not sure what is happening but the weather does not appear to be generating itself properly. Settings are as recommended in this forum and in the manual.Appreciate any feedbackThanksjohn

Check out the AS2004.5 generated cloud formation I was getting flying over Spain the other day - very symmetrical ;) Sorry, i don't have the METAR of the time but will make sure I record it if I see this patchwork pattern again.Gary

Gentlemen:I would like to begin by letting you know I really enjoy the idea of your product. There has been many times when I have become frustrated with the cloud structures within FS. Sometime clouds would be sitting on the ground by themselves, the change rate was inconsistent and sudden at times, and the clouds themselves never seemed too realistic as far as the structural community of the weather was concerned. I bought Active Sky 4.5 and was surprised to see the realism entailed. With cloud draw distance set to 60 I was amazed at the realism. I flew from Denver (KDEN) to St. Louis (KSTL) and the weather went from clear to stormy. The transition was perfect, with few…

When partial (mid-hour?) METAR updates are used they often do not contain temperature or pressure updates. For example:CYHZ 051426Z 34012G17KT 15SM FEW030 BKN060 OVC150 RMK CF1SC6AC2This results in a temp of 15 C and 29.92 IN HG readings in flight sim. These reading are often quite unrealistic as it is about -5C at CYHZ right now. Would it be possible in a future update to have AS2004.5 use the temp and pressure from the previous full (top of the hour) METAR data? Thanks,

If I create a flight plan in FS9, save it and try to open it in Active Sky I keep getting a "Unable to Import" message. Can anyone suggest the problem/fix for this?Oddly enough if I create a plan in FSNav and export it to FS9 format AS will load it after a brief warning about it being an "older version". It is just the plans made in FS9 that fail to load..Edit.. After further testing it looks like the symbology is the problem. The FS9 saved PLN file show all Lat/Long values with the

Happy New Year,I'm not sure if this is an AS2004.5 problem or a networking issue (though I betting it's a network issue), however, since AS2004.5 is the only program I'm having this problem with, thought I would post here to pick people's brains.Running AS2004.5 through WideFS on laptop. Have ALL firewalls (ZoneAlarm, ICF) and Anti-virus (MCAfee) disabled to try and troubleshoot this. Am using WinXP ICS, which is set up on the desktop machine. Everything is setup as far as sharing goes (not using simple sharing) and the account I'm using on my laptop has full admin access to the desktop. Am able to share files and do have internet access on the laptop (able to web browse …
