I just purchased the new version and before I install it, is it better to use original clouds texture or FS Sky is fine?

Hey all, Just wanted a little info on how to install this Update? I Cuurent Have ActiveSky 2004.5..and was wondering if I have to do a clean install of ActiveSky, then perform the Update? Or Do I just run this newest Update over the one i have now? I would apprecite this Install Update info! Thank's MIKE:)

Build 163 worked great for me, I use it through WideFS on my laptop, no problem. So, I installed build 174 and the data downloading/writing process became very very slow. With build 163 there never was more than 10 seconds pause between weather stations during a download/write, with build 174 getting 2-5 minute pauses, yuk! I tested this in multiple areas of N.America. So, I reverted back to build 163, now it's fine! Back to 10 second or under pauses between download/writes. Hello I have the older version of Active Sky but there was always problem with random blinking screen .I think it was happening during the uploading new live data.Is anybody experiencing this particular problem with the new version?Second question is, where I can buy this program without opening these horrible accounts,I just want to give my personal info and pay with my visa card.I

Hi All,In the past few weeks a number of users have had some difficulties with Panda Anti-virus and Active Sky. One of our users, Peter Lowry, worked with Panda to clear this situation up. Do you still have to import a flight plan with B174? I thought I read somewhere that you no longer had to import a flightplan and process it. Is this true? Thanks.

Hi, could anyone share a configuration setting that prevents or at least minimizes the chances that ActiveSky will start a weather update when I'm on final approach and about to touch down? :-zhelpI'm just trying to minimize stuttering while I'm on final approach, during which time a consistent, smooth framerate really helps. If the weather updates start while I'm on final, I'll notice a decrease in framerates and increased stuttering, especially at more complex airports. Hello all,As a brand new and delighted user of AS2004.5 I, too, have just been hit by the dreaded problem of being unable to start AS2004.5 with the error message, in my case, "runtime error 339", refering to the "ChilkatZip.dll". At the time this occured I had just used my Spy Subtract antivirus program for my weekly "cootie" scan.The solution, for me, was actually quite simple. 1)When you get the error message go START/FIND and locate the "ChilkatZip.dll". Mine was in the FS9 main folder.2) Copy and paste the .dll into your FS9/MODULES and your FS/MODULES/ACTIVE SKY 2004 folder.3) With a large smile on your face fire up Active Sky 2004.5 which should now work correct…

Hi there,i usually fly in offline mode with Dynamic Weather enabled.So i download a METAR and set my FS time as desired; after that i start.Now what i need to know is: how should i set flight time? If I have downloads every 10 minutes, is there any advantage to having TAF enabled?I ask since as it is making dynamic weather changes from within the program, it's obviously requiring processing power. So if I have updates every 10 minutes, wouldn't that take care of any dynamic changes making TAF not necessary, or would I be missing some odd weather changes that might not come from just the downloads?I also ask because sometimes while flying in overcast situations I'll get intermittent little rain showers, which I like as it seems more realistic. If I disable TAF will these quit being generated?

I had problems and needed to reinstall AS2004. When I try to run the installer I get an Error Message. "ERROR 1606. Could not access network location. No string found."The installer stops and I am stuck!FS2004 is working fine.

Need some advice, I recently moved FS to another hard drive (but on same windows) and reinstalled a new driver for my ATI 9800 pro card, now when I load a flight plan and then switch tasks to start AS304.5, import the flight plan, etc., then go back to FS, I can not get the ActiveRadar screen to appear, I do get a weather bar and the scenery looks like AS, but no MODES ability.............can this be a problem with the View screens?? Strange one. I've used AS from day one with virtually no probs at all and I've got the latest official version. Recently I changed my vid cards and when I next came to run AS all seemed OK until it began the initial weather station update process. At this point I am dumped to desktop. I've tried it several times and the same thing happens each time - I don't get the M/soft error box, just the desktop.I've changed nothing except the vid cards. I have two - an nVidia AGP 6600GT and an FX5900 PCI with latest drivers - 66.93 I think. The first runs two monitors, the second runs one. I keep getting this: Run time error 339 component "chilkatzip.dll" or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered. A file is missing or invalid." Every time I fly, it seems as though the clouds disappear when I pass through them. For instance, I take off, and it is over cast. Then while passing through, they go away and I can see the ground in all direction. I have the latest versions of AS and FSUIPC. I have most of my settings correct too. Any idea why this is happening? Though I have this problem, I nver get the stall and wind shift any more. Thanks!Brad

Hi,After a long period without FS use, i reinstalled it a few days ago and installed Active Sky. I have installed the latest patch as well.Last night i was flying out of Indianapolis. The conditions should have been overcast at around 20000 feet. The Active Sky meta had the correct data and the Active Sky bar at the top of the screen which says what the current weather conditions are at the local station was correct. However, when i looked out of my window, i could see a thick batch of overcast clouds over the city. This batch of clouds were about a couple of miles long.
