  1. I have chris's latest fsw and activesky i used to have the default clouds and they were awesome really nice and realistic to look at, what is with chris's sets the closest to the default it seems what i have tried so far is not that appealing to me. Just a question what was the real purpose of the fsw clouds were they rewritten completly for fps or visual quality?? Don't get me wrong some are very nice and the sun and moon too but the patterns seem strange to me?

Hi All,It has come to our attention that the winds aloft feature of wxRE has not been working for the past few days. After checking with the PUBLIC, GOVERNMENT, weather source, it has been determined that they are undergoing some coding changes. These changes are producing the errors that we are seeing. We are closely watching this situation and over the coming days we will plan our next step. Let us remind everyone that since the release of AS wxRE there have been very few data interuptions. We hope that you will remain patient! Also, a reminder that the rest of the features of wxRE are still in effect. One of us will update this thread when more information is known.Tha…

Happy New Year to all.I am currently using FS Navigator and importing flight plans into FS9. So far, so good, however whenever I then choose to import that route into AS2004,I get a message that it is an older route and it waw converted to a .PLN file for FS9.When I import the route from FS NAvigator into FS9, I do so with the .PLN extension added.Any Ideas about this? Thanks for any assistanceRoger Hollands

I just purchased AS2004.5 a few hours ago. Wanted to say thanks for an absolutely awesome product. I can not believe the visual difference in the FS9 visuals. My initial test run was this morning sitting at KGRK (Killeen TX regional airport), which is two miles from where I currently live. AS was on the money compared to looking out my window, complete overcast, rain, low vis, and all. For what it is worth, I want to let you know I heard about your product here on the AVSIM forums and it was your responses to my previous questions, your customer support in general, and

I just did a reformat of my computer, reloaded windows xp home, fs2002, lago fsse, registered FSUIPC 3.4.1.1, Activesky 1.7, then 1.92.4 all of which I had before and now when I run fs 2002 using system time, use ActiveSky online mode with rain/snow and overcast horizon vis reduction boxes checked, even though I am sitting on my runway in upstate NY, USA with the OVC ceiling 1600 AGL, visibility 8 miles, temp and dewpoint 1 degree C apart, FS gives me the 1600 foot ceiling with the ugly blue horizon, no fog and it says visibility 10. I even have overcast vis limit set in FSUIPC to 6 miles. What have I done or forgotton to do, it was working perfectly before my reinstal…

I have FS2004 configured to use FS time instead of System time. ActiveSky 2004.5 is configured with the "Use System Time" option disabled which, according to the manual, means that AS should use FS time. However, the METAR data and time codes indicate that the METARs retrieved by AS are current (i.e. based on system time not FS time). To give a concrete example, I have a flight which starts at 011702Z. Current system time is 020708Z. The METAR downloaded by AS is from 020600Z. This is also the most recent METAR for that station according to http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mgetmetar.pl How can I force AS to use FS time and not current system time when downloading METAR…

That is, settings that effect how weather is depicted which in turn affects frame rates. I just upgraded to a better performing system and I'd like to try pushing the envelope a bit more than I have been. :) Although I think I understand the settings individually, I would like to better understand the various interactions between settings.Starting with AS, it seems like the most important settings there are Supression Range and Maximum Visibility + Enforce Visibility Limits. I still have Max Vis at the default 59nm, and Enforce Visibility Limits is enabled. Now if I understand the manual, if visibility is less than 59nm, say 40nm, that's as far as you can see anything…

Does Activesky fix this problem:MS apparently made some updates to weather.dll, but did not fix the 9999-issue with metric METARs.There is a fix file on fsfreeware.com:This is a fix for the metric METAR bug aka "fog bug" in FS9.FS9 has a bug in weather.dll, which causes it to interprid "9999" as a maximum visibility rather than "visibility of over 10km"Usually this happens when there are some clouds in the area, whereas during CAVOK conditions visibility usually is over 10km.In USA and Canada there has been no problem since FS9 interprids "10SM" correctly. (and anywhere else where visibility in metar is in miles)INSTALLExtract the "weather.dll" file to flight simulators "…

hi: I usually download some weater files which the size should be around 1mb, and they were really accuratly. But now days, the weather files that I downloaded only around 569kb, very small, and it shows up in the FS2004 not as accurate as before. I have tested it in the airports in my place. Well, I just want to make sure how big the full weather files should be? So, I don't miss anything. cheers

Hi,I understand FSBrowser is unsupported, but if you ever put out a new version I would be interested in seeing the ability to resize the main window instead of having the "undocked" window. This would make it more useful for viewing sectional charts. Even without that feature though, FSBrowser is a very useful addon. Thanks!

AS2004.5 will not suppress range as per my options. I was flying from ATL to MIA the other day and it was pulling metars from CLT, RDU, MEM...etc. I have the suppression range set at 50 miles and the range suppression box checked. Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong.

Activesky used to function without any problems, however when my first attempt to install the MSFS update patch failed and completely killed FS I did a reinstall (which was needed anyway to get rid of all the crap collected over the past years, LOL!), but ActiveSky doesn't connect to FS anymore.FSUIPC 3.411 is installed and is properly loaded when FS starts. I can change the options of FSUIPC within FS.ActiveSky 2004.5 build 140 and the new beta both refuse to connect to FS.Can anyone please help out?

Sir,Your product seems intriguing and has received some great reviews on-line. However, I would like to ask some basic questions so that I can make informed decision about my need for purchasing it. I have no actual flight experience and am really new to FS9, so a lot of the technical terms, (TAF, METAR, etc) you all use are way over my head, so bear with my

I have had this happen a couple of times in the last 2 weeks. I am flying an ILS and I always hand fly the ILS once on the Glide slope. At about 400-500 feet AGL, the aircraft that I am flying ( Constellation lately) suddenly starts a steep descent requiring almost all the up elevator I have plus full power to pull out. Now I attributed this to wake turbulence from an unseen large aircraft passing over the top of my aircraft, and didn't think any more of it. Lately, however, there is a fairly long thread on the newsgroup alt.games.microsoft.flight-sim entitiled "Active Sky downdrafts on approach", and several people are stating that they are having this exact same probl…

  22. Maybe it's just my system, but I cannot get AS2004.5 to say the recorded airport names rather than the phonetic name. I recorded my own voice set and included all the major UPSVAC hubs (since I fly for them) and none of them will play via the FlightWatch. I searched this forum for about 40 minutes trying to find a reference to this to no avail. Anyone have a clue what's going on? Thanx!-Rick

Hello, everyone: I have never seen the AR working in my computer since I bought Activesky 2004.5, I mean no image appear, anything else such as tarcking information or METAR all shown correctly. I have searched many topics about this problem in this forum, and tried almost all of the solutions, such as reinstall AR from AS folder, tune off global write or on, TAF off, AR option radar checked turned on, etc. Really getting disanimate about this. Hope anyone can save me. Cheers

Hi,I searched in the forum about the printing options of ActiveSky 2004, and I found that it was printing to the default printer.I would like to know if there is a setting in the AS2004.ini that I can set to change the default printing options. I have a DeskJet as my default printer, but I want to be able to print the weather report on my old Fujitsu, without having to change the default printing options of Windows everytime.Maybe this could be a feature for the next update? Thanks !Etienne Bouchard
