Hello,I have a question : in an other topic (FSW) Chris recommends to use the DXT format clouds available in his latest release to improve the performances.Is it correct that the DXT format is NOT recommended with AS in regard to the "render to texture" option in FS9.I remember to uncheck this option is FS9 when running AS.Thanks in advanceBTW : AS and the team are GREAT!

Hey there,This is not a support issue just a general question for AS users. I would just like to know if you guys limit your cloud layers and what are the layer limite? i.e. 5? I tend to find too many layers will kill your frame rates without giving any visual improvement.Thanks320MAD

Hi everyone!I've noticed lately the appearance of overcast clouds in squared patterns as seen in the attached image. Moreover, my fps drop dramatically until this weather changes.I'm using FSUIPC 3.40 and online weather updates. I can't remember correctly, but I have the impression that the first time I noticed this was when I installed fsuipc 3.40. I've just started using AS2004.5 in online mode and inconsistantly get the message "Error during Decompression" during metar updates, while AS2004.5 sits there displaying "Downloading Wx......"If I press "OK" on the message box, AS then continues to write the station data and wx is adjusted accordingly.Anyone else have this prob?Love some advice, StuartThanks in advance

A couple of days ago mention was made of advances in the removal of lingering pop-ups and a newere version of FSUIPC that was in beta test. The post has now disappeared. Does that mean it was a false dawn and the issue hasn't been corrected or has it simply gone walkabout?Andy b

Hey you bunch of weather wizards!Is this a feature of your great weather program or something that is standard w/ FS9 and I just happened to notice it? The other night I was flying over some cities and noticed a haze enveloping the cities. It did not go past the boundary of the city lights, but enveloped only the city, curving here and there to envelop only the city lights area, sort of depicting smog. The area outside of the cities had no haze whatsoever. Or perhaps it is part of Chris Willis' red sodium lights textures. Just thought I'd ask.

Anybody know how often I should see the green updates at the top of my screen while flying? I'm thinking about the rolling METAR texts that move from right to left. My default is set for 10 minutes, but I certainly don't see these on a regular basis. Sometimes I will see one appear at the end of a flight. Any feedback? I just bought the AS yesterday but when I try to use the engine icon to open the program, I get a runtime error 372, then it says "Failed to load control 'ChilkatZip" from CchilkatZip.dll. Your version of ChilkatZip.dll may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application."............this doen't make any sense to me, but am not a computer whizz so that is not unusuall. Today on two different occasions I had a CTD. Both times about 1 to 1 1/2 hr out. Everything perfect until just out of the blue flight sim just drops. Not a sign of it. AS still active. After the first time I set refresh to 60 min. The second crash was about 60 min. out.After the first time I went to my system event log and didn't really understand that very well but appears comp. was trying to connect to a server and it timed out (over 2min) Seems reasonable that was when AS was refreshing. The message recieved from event log was: The Componet Object Model (COM) infrastructure tried to start the maned server aned the server did not reply within the required timeout …

Hi All,is there a way to check the status of the data server ??? For a couple of days now when ever I select refresh in online modeAS2004.5 just sits there forever supposedly downloading the data.I have left it on for more than an hour without getting anything.Everything else loks and works normal. Just the online mode seems to betoast. I have seen other programs for multiplayer servers that show status and load. Maybe Damian can include that in the next version.For now if someone could let me know if they are getting current weather and I am having a local problem, that would narrow it down a bit. ;-)

Hi...I have been an user of activesky WXRE for a couple of years already and I Have to say that I love it and I find it a wonderful program..but recently I am experiencing a strange tihng with the QNH does not changes when I flight to other places, for instance: I am at Los rodeos Airport GCXO, but if I start Flying towards Fuerteventura, I get the Info in the Active Sky of a differnt QNH but the ATC (of the Flight simulator) tells me the same QNH as in los rodeos,,,thanks for your help

When I create flights that are longer than about 150 miles I start to have issues with the destination weather (the wx at destination is always clear and calm). As the instructions say I start all flights in Fs9 with clear weather and then create the flight plan and load the flight. In Activesky I then load the route and it (AS) registers the WX for the departure airport, route, and destination airport. The weather at the departure always works fine, but the destination is always clear and calm despite what the real conditions are (somewhere along the way things start to clear up and I fly out of the weather). When AS first starts it seems to reprocess the weather list it last used. This takes about 2-3minutes. I then download the current weather; another 2-3 minutes. It then processes that weather, another 2-3 minutes. I then load the flight plan, and AGAIN it re-processes the weather list; another 2-3minutes. After all of this I finally get back to FS after spending about 15 minutes. Am I missing something in the set-up of the program that would speed this up a bit? I do clear all the weather via FSUICP before starting AS. Why does it even retain the last used file? Why does it have to process the weather data for the entire world when it knows the route I am going to us…

Hi-- I read one other post by a user reporting abrupt changes in his IAS while aloft. I have experienced a more alarming variation of the same problem. I've made scores of flights before, using FS9's default weather engine, and with FSMeteo, and have never encountered this. It only started with ActiveSky. It's happened on a couple of flights--one from CYUL and one most recently from KCGX. I load the weather, and my flight plan, per the procedures. It processes everything flawlessly. In fact, everything works great until just after takeoff--in the bizjet I use (along with a combination of RealityXP and RealCRT gauges and RealCRT's autopilot and autothrottle suite).…

Hi all,So how do I connect a pc to the main one to allow Active sky to run on another PC. Of all the instructions that you supply you presume people are experts! For example how do I install AS to a Pc that does not have FS on it? What is all the stuff about "Use a drive letter to avoid any possible incompatibilities with UNC names?" How do I install only part of AS to the server PC to allow AS to run.I am sorry for not being a Techno Anorak but please can you explain how I run your programme.Thanks,Garry

Having just bought the AS package I am very happy with it's performance in most areas, however I have come across a couple of strange occurances.I set everything up for a flight from BFI to OLM and saved the plan, started FS9 hit the clear all weather button in FSUIPCStart AS and let it write the weatherHit new route and import the FP and AS processes the weather.Get back into FS9 hit Ctrl F12 for the radar and it gives wind 150 at 5 kts, so does the METAR bar at the top of the screen (this should have a selectable colour scheme, red on green is pretty grizzly)BUT, the in sim ATIS and the AS ATIS (122.00) give wind at 331 for 3 also the viz reports do not agree, AR and ME…

HelloI noticed lately that Activesky doesn't get proper metars and tafs for Israel:LLBG, LLSD, LLIB, LLOV, LLET.It gives METARS from Jordan and Lebanon, but rarely has Israel.When it does have LLBG, it doesn't have LLET and other.I think the HiFi network has problems getting these Metar, and I can't understand why - they are available for the VATSIM and IVAO networks and are usually up to date.It hasn't always been like this.Can you please look into it?

Hi All,As i do most of my flying of an evening at about 10.30pm, i always start & set up my sim so i am flying in daylight, so this means setting the time back to say 3.00pm.By doing this, when i start up AS2004, does it load the weather which happened during that day or am i confusing the program by going back in time.CheersMike

I recently bought and downloaded AS2004.5Two questions: I have downloaded and am using the User Manaual for AS2004. Do I understand that the upgraded manual revisions for AS2004.5 are not out yet?Second question: I hear mentioned on the forum the AS2004.ini file. I have been encontering a problem witht the wake turbulence. regardless of what aircarft I fly, with wake turbulance enabled, when I am on approch at about 200ft AGL i get a sever nose down pitch on the aircraft and it crashes into the ground. It's as if if I hit a serious air vacume. It happend even thought the last landed 5 / 10 minuites before. and it does not feel like turbulance is trying to be simulated, I just get a serious nose down pitch. Even if I pull up on the yoke, nothing happends.I have tried with both "increased wake turb." and with nomal wake turb. same thing happends.Please help.Thankscimaner

I just recently recived AS in the mail. Its a great product. The only problem is its the ASwxRE version not 2004. I understand that this is my mistake in ordering. After a week of trying to figure out why I was not getting all of the added features such as the weather radar I've come to find out that there is no CD version of 2004. I'm assuming there is no upgrade either, that its a complete rewrite. I would like to suggest that you make this known on your website as even the CD packing states that its FS9 compatible, though its not AS2004. While ASwxRE is a great product I have yet to notice any real diffrence with it VS FS9's Jeppesn weather. I just find it odd that the…
