Is there a User Manual for AS2004.5? I just bought it and may have missed the User Manual on the install. Perhaps there is a way to access it that I am not aware of. I have the User Manual for AS2004. Is that current enough?

Hello. I have been using AS 2004.5 now for about month or so. I had FSUIPC 3.4 installed and everything worked ok. Yesterday I installed FSUIPC 3.411 and immediatly AS stopped working. It just complains "cannot connect to FS, please make sure blaahlaah...". I then went back to FSUIPC 3.4 and AS started working again fine! I already found one similar topic of this issue here at avsim, but how come this is not any wider problem? Any info about this issue would be welcome. Thanks!

I have a few observations and some suggestions for consideration.Firstly I have noticed some seemingly inconsistent results with weather processing particularly around the time 2359/0000Z changeover. (The 'ActiveSky Time' I have referred to below is the reference time used by ActiveSky and I saw effectively the same results with both 'Use System Time(vs FS Time)' selected and deselected.) Dear all, since about 3 weeks, after the 4.5 installation, my weather radar stopped working, that means it rains, and no radar image, I had this problem before, I think I reinstalled Active Radar. I already downloaded and reinstalled the full new version of Avtive sky, 4.5, but it doesn't seem to include the active radar. Any idea how this gets resolved?thanksKurt

Hi,On my last flight from KDFW-KATL it was very cloudy enroute and I noticed during my flight at FL330 that the clouds in the distance ahead of me where "painted" almost like in slowmotion and it didn't look very realistic...is there any way I can fix that problem?Have included a pic where I have outlined what clouds I mean and what it looked like during my flight.TIA,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/98633.jpg

Chris,When I press "Random" and then install for the selected cloud set (e.g., cumulous, cirrus), the labels for the various categories (cirrus, cumuous, sky set, all, misc, etc) goes away. I have to exit the progrm and restart to continue making selections.And - I have three suggestions for the next version:1. It appears that when pressing "Random", you only get a random choice for the selected set. It would be nice if when pressing Random, you get a random selection for all sets of interest. In other words, when the user presses random, a dialog could appear with checkboxes for each of the "candidate" random choice sets. The user could then check all categories for…

Hi all,During advanced testing and troubleshooting of some visibility and wx consistency issues brought up recently, we have identified a confirmed problem between FSUIPC 3.4x and ActiveSky2004 (any version).This can account for many oddities, including inconsistent wx (including clouds and visibility), wx pops, wind shifts and more.Pete has identified provided a solution to this, and we are currently testing a new FSUIPC version internally and so far things are looking good. FS Skyworld contains the default unaltered FS 2004 cloud set.2. It also contains many versions of brand new cloud sets made by Chris that have the same performance that the default FS 2004 clouds do.3. It contain the HIFPS and HIPSv2 sets which are scaled down versions of the DEFAULT FS 2004 cloud sets for better performance.4. Hello:I wanted to know what is the main difference between fsmeteo and active sky. I am trying to make a decision, but I can't really tell what is what sets these two softwares apart. I have used fsmeteo and wxre for previous versions of FS and I have to say I liked wxre better at the time. I will be blunt, It is cheaper to upgrade to the new fsmeteo as a previous user vs. upgrading from wxre 1.92 to active sky. This problem is not at all the fault of ActiveSky but like many other FS users (according to posts here and on other forums)I have difficulty toggleing back and forth between full screen and window mode which, of course, is necessary to use AS.The issue is that when trying to get back from window to full screen, I get a black square with a flickering hour glass. The only "workaround" that I am aware of is to use ALT + Enter to switch views and sometimes that works but often it does not.When it doesn't I must shut down FS9 with the CTRL+C keys and then start over which would make AS unusable for me. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is there any way to disable winds above a specified level.I have just purchased the PSS Concorde, and at high levels travelling supersonic, it can become unstable due to the winds.If there is no way to do this, is there a fuction whereby I can limit the wind speed to zero, or not download it at all?-Phil

Where is the manual?

This is probably a FS issue and not an ActiveSky....I generally fly out of my hometown airport, KEVV. However, FS just will not change the takeoff and landing runway, no matter which way the wind is blowing.One day it was blowing out of the southwest ... 220 at 5 .. and still Runway 4 was the active runway, even though 22 is available and fully ILS equipped.Is there something amiss between AS and FS??Otherwise, I just love the program.... it is amazing how closely it mirrors the real weather around here...John WhiteNEwburgh, IN

Hi,I am having a very annoying problem which has started occurring since I have upgraded to AS2004.5. The problem is during cruise with PMDG737, as an example, (but it occurs with all aircraft), IAS increases or decreases very abruptly, due to very sharp wind direction and magnitude changes, despite I have FSUIPC wind smoothing option enabled. This causes very frequent warnings of excessive speed and a continuous change in engine thrust setting. Same story during climb and descent: large fluctuations in wind magnitude causes significant variations in IAS and VS. Does Active sky select the same cloud settings I have choosen , or does it select whatever the AS WX server reports to them. i.e. AS selects clouds from the total amount of selections in the FS sky data base, or it selects what I have selected from the fs sky database??ThanksMike

For Chris Willis or whomever can answerI have read the manual but not installed,and have a couple of questions:1. I am still very confused about the various cloud sets. I currently run HIFPSV2 and am happy with it.The manual first states that the cloud types in FS Sky World are default FS 2004 performance.It then goes on to mention that one can DOWNLOAD FSWHIFPS.zip to improve peformance. Where would one place those textures? How does one select them in FS Skyworld? Do they eliminate the default FS Skyworld clouds that are default performance? I would like a little help on how to improve this situation. I have attached the screenshot of both how AS reported the weather and how it is shown in the sim. I don't think AS depicts the weather as it should be, but I may be wrong, what do you think? How can I fix this if it is wrong? Hi,As it is now by default, the weather radar window is visible in all views. Can this be changed in some way so it will only be visible in the main forward cockpit view?Don't know if it is of any relevance, but I'm mainly flying PMDG's 737-800.TIA,
