I decided to fly around my city, KPHX, and enjoy some rainy low visibility weather. It was an illegal flight since I flew VFR in complete IFR conditions, so don't tell anyone ;)Anyhow, I got into PHX's airspace and heard of a 757 coming into runway 26, so I turned around and lined up with 26, outbound! Hi I'm getting this problem where i have downloaded the current weather and for a few seconds it looks ok, some clouds with blue sky between. But then, every thing goes grey. Looking over the horizon a mist has settled and visability is reduced dramaticly. I have played with settings in A/S build 174 and FUIPC latest version regiterted, Unfortnunatley with no joy. I have even restarted FS9 and repeated the process, but the exact same happens. This is when i am at my local airport cardiff ( EGFF ) UK. Can any one help. Thanks Shaun

I'm at flight level 330. What the problem here i keep getting wind variations and a tailwind of 50 kts?

Is there a way to have the weather say in a 25 mile radius of my destination, stay the same as my destination weather. KMSP was reporting 1 mile in snow, ceiling 900 OVC, but I didn't see that weather until I was coming down the g/s about 4-5 miles out. I was doing the approach in a scattered cloud layer in sun until about 4-5 miles out and then the weather changed instantly. It would be nice to have the weather for the whole approach be the weather thats at the airport!I amusing build 174 with the latest FSUIPC version. I just finished a flight KMIA PBI A699 LOUIZ R514 BDA TXKF.Everything went well with AS for most of the flight except the last 100nm or so. Once Iwas in range of the TXKF station AS2004.5 kept switching stations between TXKF and a whole host of K*** stations (KISP, KN78, KNCA, KNGU, etc). As soon as it would finish updating for one station it would switch back to TXKF. This continued until about 20-30nm out of TXKF.Here is my AS settings. I posted a thread about installing the latest build 174 and fsuipc 3.45 about fs not being connected, I unistalled the build and reverted back to the old activesky2004.5 but left the latest fsuipc in my modules folder...ac2004.5 said fs wasnt connected, i reverted back to fsuipc 3.4 and it worked fine...could this e a step in the right direction for the people who are having problems with the latest build? Why would fsupic not connect to fs with the latest build? Is it a scripting problem? Just a few minutes ago I finished a pathetic flight, partly my fault, in the PMDG 737. It was from KPHX to KSLC at FL310. Somewhere just north of BCE my winds aloft started winding down to 0, then back up to approximately 240/80, then back down to nothing, over and over. The plane was just sliping back and forth. Drove me crazy, so I dropped to FL260. It didn't really stop right away either. What was this all about? Also during my descent into KSLC the weather was supposed to be snow below 800 foot ceiling and 1SM visibility. The clouds appeared but visibility was 4SM and it didn't start snowing until touchdown.I'm using the latest build, 174. Don't know why the …

I have as2004.5 with update. Everything was working fine, now allof a sudden it wont download weather. It says its downloading, butit never does. It says fs connected and the location is correct, butit wont download.I have winxp, fs2004, fsuipc 3.45 unregistered.

We had really crappy weather here Saturday - rain, snow, fog, perfect for working on IFR approaches. I used AS to download the current weather every hour or two so I could use this weather later, without having to rely on the intermittent archive downloads.My question is, if I'm in offline mode with TAFs disabled, will AS see the multiple METAR files in my weather folder and use them as they become current? I'd rather use the actual METARs than the TAFs because, as usual, the weather didn't turn out quite as forecast.Thanks,Dan

hello,after reading the forum i am i little confused, i think when you use the normal fs9 visibility (60 mile) and clouds draw, without any extra program, this is not looking reallistic. And is also heavy on the fps.My question is: now i use as 2004.5 b174, and the latest payware fsuipc (where it's also possible to change visibillity etc, can someone point me in the right direction for reallistic looks.i also think it's better for the fps (at least a small cloud draw distance)regards,rick

Dear Jim et al,I just wanted to stop by and compliment you on such a great program. I just completed a flight in the stock Lear from KSEA to my local airport (O69). The clouds and weather are just extraordinary. I also just discovered Full Screen mode which I think brings a 3D effect to everything, including the testures on the aircraft. Thanks for bringing such a cool dimension to FS9!Mark

Hello, My excuse for using the name. With FSMeteo its possible to have online IVAO weather. The weather is 99% like the IVAO weather itself. I know there's no one on one connection with IVAO, but still it gives for 99% the weather conditions whats very smart I think!......its like a copy or something?Is it also for AS possible to have such a connection, wich is simulating the IVAO online weather in the future?Thxvortovor

When I attempt to install B174 (over B147 which is my current build) the installer at some point attempts to remove old installers.These are however no longer on my harddisk, causing the installer to fail and roll back the installation.Can you provide an installer that doesn't attempt this cleanup (or does but doesn't fail if the cleanup fails)?

On a flight from Manchester to Malta my PMDG 737-700 experienced abnormally strong side winds of up to 500 mph shortly before arriving and not surprisingly caused a crash.Previous to that for most of the trip the wind speed averaged about 30 mph.From the appearance of the clouds such a wind was abnormal and could not have been the actual weather.What could have gone wrong please?Cliff

Hi,I am very satisfied with AS!!! Its great.I was wondering what is the difference in FS2004 between "Cloud Draw Distance" and "Sight Distance?" I have my Cloud Draw Distance set to 80nm and my Sight Distance to 90nm.Also whenever I fly with my Active Sky it seems as if the clouds are only around my a/c and NOT spread throughout my entire sight distance. I have my weather suppression range set to 100nm laterally and below 4,000'.Thanks,merritt

I posted the "build 174 problem" a few days ago about the increased writing time of build 174 AS2004 on my laptop via WideFS. It turns out it is VERY important to have version 6.45 of WideFS in order to properly use build 174. I was still using WideFS 6.2X. Now, with WideFS 6.45 I can utilize build 174 of AS2004 through WideFS, the write times are almost imperceptably slower than build 163 and I am a happy and much wiser simmer now!! Hi, I have just installed ActiveSky along with all the updates however when I load FS then load up ActiveSky, I always get the message that I must start up FS and then press refresh. Good Morning Damian and Jim,I'm a former WxRE user and recently purchased AS2004.5. I like the program and am getting the feel of things but have a couple of questions.1. No matter what I do, I can't get the destination weather to fully set until I'm on final, usually 2-3 miles out. Example: KDEN to KASE- no real difference between the 2 except Altimeter which was 3032 at KDEN and 3049 at KASE. When I was about 25 miles out, the ALT went to 2992 while everything else was there, clouds, wind, etc. ALT rapidly went to 3049 when I was 3 miles from the threshold. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or might know what's going on. I've been using AS 2004.5 up until this point without any problems. After downloading build 174, I clicked to open the zip file and then double click on Setup to install and then....nothing happens. I just see the hourglass icon briefly and then it's as if Setup never ran. I've tried right-clicking and selecting open instead of double-clicking, rebooting the computer, re-downloading the update, turning off anti-virus and firewall, all the usual hail-mary quick fixes to see if any of this was the problem, but no dice. Will ATC ever change the runways in FS9? If I'm sitting at an airport with AS running and the wind direction changes via AS, would ATC change the runway in use? I remember it doing this in FS2002.

Hi there, my question is about active sky 2004.5 and the latest build...i installed the latest update yesterday and put the latest fsuipc v3.4.5 and it is registered, i loaded fs2004 and then as2004 and as2004 said that fs wasnt connected. I turned on ipc logging and checked out the log and it said that something was read only...the only things that are read only in my fs9 are the fs9.exe and trafficinfo.dll. Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem might be. I have attached my fsuipc.log to see if anyone knows whats going on. I cant run as2004 now and I am very frustrated as flying w/o it sucks. I think I had a problem with average route winds in build 163.Could Damian or Jim comment on the attched screen shot please?It looks to me as though the winds are NW to NE yet the average route wind is shown as 166 degrees which seems to be 180 degrees out?BTW thanks for the latest build guys.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/105414.jpg

purchased Active Sky just prior to the new update. Love it, never seen better weather cloud effects. However since updating to the new build have noticed some different behaviour that is perplexing. One such instance is when I instant replay, the aircraft seems to lag behind the actual time then speeds up in fast motion to catch up, has anybody else experienced this, and if you have a fix i would be intersted to know. I uninstalled the new build and Its ok again, would like to get the benefits of the update
