Hi guys,Just a small question regarding version 5. Will the current users of version 2004.5 be upgraded for an additional cost or will the new version need to be purchased outright? I don't mind either way, of course you can be grnerous and give it to us for free if you like I won't complain :) I am just trying to decide whether to leave things as they are or get another addon. If we need to purchase V5 outright all else can wait! I want this program ;)!

Hi,Can someone tell me what exactly does the "Enforce visibility limits" option do together with the min and max visibility entry fields?By default the Enforce... setting is enabled and the values are 0 for minimum and 59 for max but of course I don't want these numbers to decide what visibility I will get in the sim but rather the actual conditions according to the metar report. Thanks in advance for an explanation,

  4. On the last two or three versions of AS2004.5 I've had problems with certain flights where the wind will slow to nothing and/or climb up to an unfriendly speed and direction. Last night for example, the wind was 320 at 99, then dropped to below 20, changed direction several diferent times 360 degrees, then went back up to over 100. Each time these events have occurred the plane (usually a jet at high altitude) can't compensate so it goes into overspeed and/or comes very close to a stall. I know I have everything set right, including the Wind Drift Rate set at 0. Is there anything I can do to prevent such dramatic wind shifts? I know AS and FSUIPC helps a lot with FS9…

Hello guys! Just got your new activesky and it rocks. It's the first time I've used it and I've been missing out!I'd like to know if wether ActiveSky can work in conjunction with IVAO's pilot client, the newly released Ivap, in the same way that it can work with VATSIM. I love both organisations - they both have their upsides and downsides - and I'd love to be able to use AS with both of them. Thanks for the help! Cheers, Victorhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg

Hi gang,Great work! But ran across a huge problem today. Was flying on-line during the IVAO african tour. Metar was reading CAVOC winds 030/03 NOSIG QNH1014. As I approached the runway (last 20nm) I turned on flight watch and the METAR was amasing!!!!! Vis 0 OVERCAST at 300 FT and the TEMP -50! Thought there was something wrong with Flight Watch so ignored it but it was right the temp was -50. The airport (if it has anything to do with it was FVCZ and the time was 17:10 UTC. Yet in the window the reading was normal as described above. This was the first time this happened with Active Sky and I have been running B182 for about 6 hrs. Other than that seems real stable excep…

Hi gang,Still in love with AS, and really looking forward to the new version. I know you are working hard and really don't need this...Still, I do have a suggestion: When you specify a flight plan, AS uses the flight level from the flight plan, not the one you input. What about this: You should be able to specify an initial cruise alt, and final one (to allow for step climbs), and the average wind/dir should an average of winds for that interval (say 2000 ft apart). Worth thinking about? Thanks again for a GREAT product!BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

Every time when i approach an airport at about 5000 ft a low visibilty haze layer comes out of no where not gradually but suddenlt i did not get this with past builds. (Myself anyway) same with cloud pop ups in the distance being drawn, i see it being drawn with this build. Again even if the airport has good visibilty i will temporarily get this haze effect. Although it looks really nice and realistic the sudden change throws it off.Anyone?

  10. how come this happens and should it be this way?

  11. They seem to disappear when panning and then reappear when panning back to or the opposite direction. I never understood why this happens and must add there was a few builds that this did not happen and it fell so realistic.

Hi,I'm considering buying AS (I'll probably wait until version 5 is out though if that's not too long away from now!!).Anyway, my question is, how does AS managed wind transition?I am currently using a freeware weather program, but during flight, I have quite noticeable wind changes which happen in very brief periods (massive change of speed, heading). Now, is there anyway to smoothen these wind changes in AS via the menu, like accept of wind changes of 5 degrees per second, or 5kts per second?Or is that an option you change on FSUIPC, then you also need to have a registered version of FSUIPC?Regards,Francois

Hi!I have been using ActiveSky 4.5 for several months without any problems. I like it very much. The other day I installed the update. While positioned at a gate at Inhambane, Mozambique (FQIN) with the retrieved weather showing "... 9999 sct020 bkn035..." it initially generated very plausible conditions, but within about a minute, the frame rates plummeted to about 3.5 fps, the cloud reached ground level, the runway lights came on and then all the "non background" textures (such as trees, buildings and runway) turned white.Suspecting a major corruption somewhere, I restarted FS2004 and ActiveSky, but it did the same thing. I then installed build 175 and it did the same th…

Being from the Troy Michigan area I fly out of Oakland/Troy airport as my home base. I have recently discovered a very strange problem. I start FS, place my Cessna at 7D2, clear the weather through FSUIPC, start AS2004.5 and wait for the update to finish. I then have a perfect looking sky that matches the nearest station report shown in AS which is KDET. About 15 seconds or so later the sky changes from whatever it was to an ugly grey overcast. In trying to determine what might be the cause I have gone to a number of other airports and not had this problem. For example, I have started up at KSEA, same steps, no issues. I have started up at KDTW, to be close by, and…

One major problem was solved thanks to Stu and Damien, now a new one has cropped up. I have an Intel P4 3.04 gig along with 2 sticks of 512 memory, Windows XP professional, and Nvidia's GeForce 5900 Ultra 256mb video card. My simming was doing great after solving the last problem until yesterday. I tried flying through a bank of thunderstorms yesterday and again today several times and between 45 minutes to an hour into the flight sim, FS9 crashes and I get an error message stating that I have run out of available memory (huh???!!!). I have done a defrag, cleaned up what little clutter I had on my hard drive and I have even shut off hyper-threading (via task manager...no…

However after a recent reinstall of the original I bought and then upgrading with build 182 I now have a problem.I start up FS2004Place myself at the gateClear weather with FSUIPC 3.47Start AS2004.5Now what I get is the weather for the previous time I was flying. Days previously. example I start AS2004.5 at 052300z and recieve weather for 022250 which was the last time I flew. Also I have just completed a four hour flight and the weather data did not update, my destination wx was 052230Z on departure, 4 hours later it was still 052230z. 20. This may be more a Wnindows question, but naybe someone else has seen this before. The Minimze, Restore Down and Close icons that should be in FS9 in windowed mode are not there, so I can't minimize the program in order to start ActiveSky up. My hard drive had crashed and this only started happening after I re-loaded everything onto the new drive.Any suggestions?

When first started using ASV the times were okay. But lately the ASV loads old wx. Today at 012005Z, I got wx from aviationweather.gov with metar at 011950Z. I set up ASV, flight plan process at 012020Z, but the ASV metar was 010700Z. This just started recently, but I've made no changes in options. Do you know why this is?Thanks, lr.

I still seem to be getting unrealistic hard edges to fog/cloud layers in mountain areas - see attachment. In the past disabling the FS9 Haze layer has fixed this but not this time over Misty Fjords. Build 174 and all defaults apart from online updates & no FS9 haze. Any suggestions appreciatedBruce

When downloading archive weather- there is a blank for year, month, day, and time in UTC hours. I think it would be nice to have some feature such as in the AS preferences you set your local time zone, and then so when you download archive weather you can simply insert the desired local time- and not have to convert to UTC hours. Or conversely just re-work the dialog box for downloading archive weather so you can select any time zone and then enter the desired local time for that time zone. This seems like something that would take minimal effort to implement (it should just be a simple calculation to figure out the offset to the UTC hour download, which AS can then subm…
