I am thinking about buying AS2004.5 or ASV and have been following the discussions about the representations of OVC conditions with interest.AS2004.5 features "overcast enhancement." What is this exactly? What does AS2004.5 do for overcast effects that are better than the native weather generator in FS?Thanks,Jim

The Current Active METAR message tape across the top of the screen is in red on green. I have a bit of difficulty reading that color combination. Is there a way to change the colors?

Hi,I had a crash-to-desktop yesterday with FS9.1 + AS2004.5 B193 running. This has happened enough times before with no problems afterwards but this time the AS2004.5 module has stopped working correctly:On initial load (FS running), the download and refresh functions the program recognises the current location but then seems to stick at the "....[connecting to HiFi Data Net]...." or "....downloading...." message and does not update the weather. If I then press the download button, the weather loads!? The same happens during flight when the program attempts to refresh but this time the download button has no effect! If you wish to set up an IFR flight in FS2004 where you only want 'minimum IFR visibility' for the flight and final approach, do you have to use the default FS2004 weather settings or can you manually set an appropriate overcast setting via ActiveSky? Peter Hayes

Hi,I have been using AS2004 for a while now and have noticed that when flying into an overcast layer the cloud is never very thick.In RW flying these layers are sometimes very thick, so why does my weather never simulate this? Do I need to change any settings for this to occur..Many thanksDrayton

Hello, I have recently installed FSiin. However, when I log on to Vatsim my clouds (and sometimes my cockpit) start to flicker, especially my clouds. When I run Activesky without FSiin it works fine. Have you any ideas what might be casuing this problem?RegardsPaul

I just bought and downloaded Activesky2004, the maintenance file and the beta update. I have FSUIPC 3.47 , hit clear all weather, started FS9 with clear weather. At my local airport it is OVC 1200 vis 4 miles and using the new AS via widefs, I get the accurate metar info, but I still have clear skies with some scattered clouds to the north only! Help! Perfect day for some nice IFR and I can' get any. What am I doing wrong please!Thanks, Robert

I have been experiencing rapid wind changes during flights with AS2004.5 and have read through some other posts where people were having simlar problems. The winds will cirlcle about 360 degrees and the speed will change rapidly causing a lot of aircraft control issues. It seems the ActiveSky team has suggested this is an FSUIPC issue, not AS. I have the un-registered version of the latest FSUIPC and was wondering if I purchased the registered, will this fix my problem? Just was curious if this has cured the problem for others. Good day gents,At the moment (and since B192) I'm verry happy with the performance of AS2004.5 (I don't know what Damian did in that build but it gave me a real performance boost). Well done gang! Now I have a small question. I have turned up all my settings in FS just a little Sight distance to 80, cloud draw to 60, 3D clouds to 100% and density to Maximum FPS locked at 35 and get a constant 35 in most any weather in overcast it drops to about 30 so no problems at all there. Now to my question what does the enforce visibility limits option in AS do? Since my setting in FS is 80 I set it to 79 is this ok? Previously it seemed another competing product was the only (decent) FS weather program.Anyway, I've been finding rave reviews about ActiveSky and would like to purchase it now. However, I see that a brand new version is on the horizon. I currently am a proud user of AS4.5 and am eagerly waiting the arrival of AS5, also I saw FlightEnviroment on Flight1's site and was wondering if the 2 are mutually exclusive, or if that I get AS5, then is there a need for FlightEnvironment? I had no problems with doing that before, but it seems to be doing it now. I don't have my C++ exception codes in front of me, so I'm not sure what that error means. Have installed the latest updates of both Active Aky and FSUIPC but I do not believe I am getting the correct weather.For example today at EDDL the METAR wasEDDL 031950Z 31002KT 9999 FEW025 15/09 Q1012 NOSIG RMK SUPPRESSEDAnd all I got was clear skies and the default temperature 14 degrees. There did not seem to be any change to the weather whatsoever.Not had these problems beforeShould if I am reading the METAR correct be at lest 25% broken cloud coverage and 15 degrees temperature.ThanksJohn

Hi AS devs and othersI recently did a test setup with a second monitor on my dual head ATI card. I tested it with a few configurations and in one of them I had the ActiveSky 4.5 screen dragged to the second monitor.The second monitor I used broke down so I had to remove it. Now when I start AS, it seems to start by default in the "virtual second monitor" and cannot be dragged back! Not even right-clicking the taskbar symbol -> Move helps as the window is somewhere beyond the boundaries of my main screen desktop.I'm sure I saw a solution to this somewhere BEFORE I had the problem and now I've searched and searched but no avail. I just installed AS2004 build 193 and my framerates have slowed down much more than before and this when landing at a default FS2004 airport (not a custom-made airport scenery). They can be as low as 4-6 FPS when taxiing to the airport terminal (in this case, the default airport is LHBP, Budapest).At first, I had serious and rhytmic stutters - you could write a song to the rhytm of the stutters which occurred AFTER opening Active Radar and continued even after closing Active Radar and even after closing AS2004 and clearing all weather in FSUIPC 3.48.I uninstalled all AS2004 and active radar programs from my PC, re-installed the basepack of AS2004 version 1.0, then update…

Why is it that with any of the FS9 weather themes that involve heavy overcast conditions, FPS doesn't drop below 20FPS when flying the default Baron, but when I fire up AS with the weather as below I struggle to get out of single digits?
