Hi guys - This isn't AS problem but I'm hoping I can get pointed in the right direction. First - the history of my system(s) all which ran trouble free with all versions of AS. Athlon xp2700 with NVidia GeForce 4 Ti4600, P4 3.4 with ATIx600Pro PCIx card. Then I switched to a Leadtek Geforce 6800 PCIx/256 card. Settings for AS and FS9 did not change. I have always run the 3d clouds, Render to Texture ON and the correct set ( i forget which) of Chris' clouds that go with that.No problems until the new vid card. After a recent complete re-install of FS9 have managed to re-install Activesky ver 1.1. Have downloaded ver 2004.5 zip but unable to install. Get options do I want to repair, modify, or uninstall. Having selected modify, the installer says the new version is installed but it clearly is not. Also I get error message 1706 and have difficulty re starting AS the next time I come to use it. Has anyone any suggestions please?

Hi guys,I have a small question about iceing I hope some day to crash because of it ;) To date I have tried everything from sitting on a russian runway at -39 to flying through clouds at high altitude. I have the "Prevent all icing" option un selected in AS and I don't know if there is a setting I need to make in FSUIPC to activate this. I don't even get an ice warning in any of my aircraft e.g. PSS Airbus, PMDG 737NG or the Flight 1 Meridian. Can any of you please tell me what I need to do to make my plane ice up? I've done everything short of putting my PC in the freezer ;)

Anyone else having a problem with strong wake turbulence?I just followed a B1900 into KIAH in the Aeroworx B200. I was far enough behind that the B1900 was off the runway as I approached, so no go-around. I would assume that any wake turbulence would have settled by the time I got to that position.At about 300 feet AGL, I nose dived into the ground. No amount of opposite control helped. Wake turbulence was turned on, but "Increased wake effects" was not. I have not run into this problem previously.May just be an isolated incident. I have turned wake turbulence off for the time being.Wilson

Hi,I installed AS2004.5 and it worked fine. However, now when I click on the AS icon (or AS2004 exec), it attempts to start the installation msi and can't find it. This has happened twice. If someone could point me to a link or post I would appreciate the help. I'm not interested in uninstalling and re-installing this program every other time. I think that with b192 (i didn't upgrade to the previous two beta versions) the download speed has diminished.It now takes something like about 100secs just to download the data file, then it starts the normal processing.Now my connection is not the problem as it allows a maximum of 220KB/s.It is a very little minor annoyance, but i thought to ask.

This is probably a dumb question, but it won't be my first. Why can't AS be configured so that it will show on the FS menu bar. I already have Lago, Active Camera, Erosoft, FSUIPC on there. Am I missing something here? I have read the manual more than once and I don't find a reference to this that I recognize.

Hi there,I have a similar rig to yours minus the EE processor. I don't think it's an AS problem but a driver problem. I had problems with the ATI drivers from V5.2 on until they released 5.4. I had stutters and my FPS would decrease a little. I would upgrade to the CCC 5.4 version, and make sure that you have the TRUEFORM set to off. Also make sure that the GEOMETRY INSTINCING (spelling?) is off as I saw a hit on frames with this turned on. I too went back to the 5.1 drivers a few times but the 5.4 CCC drivers seem stable enough to me. Hope this helps let me know how it goes ok.

Hi, I am considering purchasing Activesky. I currantly use FSmetar for my weather & have a few questions.1. Do I have to load a flight plan to use Activesky? In the online docs, it appears that way. Can I just load the weather & fly?2. How will my performance compare to FSmetar? I have a P4-3.06Ghz with 1 gig ram & Radeon 9600 256meg video.3. Is Activesky compatable with FSnav & the hi performance clouds from FSW? Sorry about all the questions but if I am going to pay $40 I think they are valid. Thanks.Pat Callaghan

They get drawn in front of me. I had posted on this issue a while back i now tested different builds and updated video drivers, i can confirm b182 does this. Unless i go a little further back with older builds. So what is the problem guys? It kills the realism!!

This is what it's all about. After the great support from Jim and Damian I'm back to the same type of FPS I was on before! Just purchased AS4.5 the other night and so far everything seems to be working fine, except for the voices for Flightwatch. They play so slow, it makes them unusable. We're talking 10-30 secs between words/phrases. Weird thing is, when I switch tasks, (alt-tab) to the desktop, it plays normal. So for now, I have Flightwatch turned off but would like to get it working.Using Build 174, Sound acceleration is full on, Sound Blaster Live! with current drivers.Any ideas on what might be wrong, or something I'm missing?Thanks,Marv

I installed an earlier build of Active Sky in an attempt to get the "weather heaven" I had experienced before (I have saved all the different versions and builds to my HD). Took the FSUIPC version (I use the unregistered version) that was automatically placed in the Active Sky folder for that version of Active Sky, and placed this in my modules folder. However, when I try to start up FS9 with that version of FSUIPC (I use the unregistered version), I am told that FSUIPC (I use the unregistered version) will not run with the version of FS9 I have installed. Hi Jim,Small comment don't you guys think things are a little out of hand when a p4 3 gig with a gig of ram and an x800 pro is struggling with the frames? For example to set the cloud layers to three I might as well use the standard weather of FS (no offence of course just me being picky). I for one feel that the could logic or what ever you call it worked better with the lesser volume clouds being seen at FL150 or what ever the old figure was. With build 174 and settings set to max I would push 50 FPS that's with 8 layers active. Now the rates are dismal. Just a suggestion mate if I roll back to the older builds I get near double FPS. I would love to see the FPS settings…

There was an earlier build that had been released that was just "weather heaven" for me. I would have proper cloud build up w/out the annoying "pop-ins". Visibility would increase and decrease gradually. I would get gradual increase of haze due to storms building up as I flew down underneath overcast conditions, and like visibility increase as I flew up and over overcast conditions. I would get intermittent rain at times, and gradual clearing into bluer skies as I flew out of a storm.
