I wanted to reproduce some interesting weather that I experienced on a recent flight out of MSY [New Orleans] around 3 PM However, I could not get closer than about 2 hours to the actual time I was interested in with the archive collection, despite specifying the time and date accurately Zule time. I thought the weather was archived hourly. Please note that this is entire weather file download I am talking about.None of the weather I had noticed was present in the archived version.Could you clarify this?ThanksGreg

Hi Jim & Damian,Congrats on the new arrival Damian! I was curious to know more about the wx station blending. It's been suggested to be one of the possible causes for some of the lower cloud layers not showing up correctly (at least they don't on my system). I'm a little confused as to why 2 miles is the limit chosen for using 100% reporting from the local station, and given that low overcast is usually consistent for a few miles, how would this even be a factor anyway in that scenario? Hello,At the moment I'm running ASV5 on a second PC with a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. In some of the windows ie. I just installed the update for ASV and a few of us flew a Multiplayer last evening in the Valdez area of Alaska. We all had ASV. Weather was pretty bad with thunderstorms, rain, clouds to 12,000 feet and we were flying Cessna C182RG's from Carenado and one Porter. The weather depiction with ASV was Fantastic!!!! Vertical air currents, turbulence, lightning, fanatastic clouds with no frame rate drops etc.. etc.. As we flew along, we kept commenting on Teamspeak about how great it looked.. When landing, nobody had any floating problems with the update!!! Big round of applause for the AS folks from us, after we landed!!! You have a Fantastic Product..... :)

Hi,Are there any other networked (via Widefs) ASV users who have flight watch voice working? I have run out of ideas to get it to work. Went to KALB within the hour of the above metar with ASV, mips enabled and everything else set up correctly, looked like nice OVC, didn't hit a cloud on climbout in a 1900D till 6400 feet MSL within 2 miles of KALB! Cleared all weather with FSUIPC at start up of FS9 before refreshing ASV as well. What am i doing wrong, I want nice low IFR to practice approaches as I can with FS2002 and wxRE. Thank you.Doc

Hi folks, I am not sure whether my problem is ASV related but since I bought and installed ASV (having had AktiveSky 4.5 before) my LevelD 767 crashes and causes my PC to reboot. Very annoying. Again, it did not happen before and I wonder whether it may have something to do with the latest ASV installation because I did not install anything else. Well, I installed the latest ATI catalyst 5.6 but already went back to 5.1 in order to find the culprit.P.S. Any other plane works fine with ASV (which is just great!), flew pattern in the default cessna for hours. without problems. but as soon as I then switch to the LevelD767 the screens goes blank and the PC reboots. I feel that a lot of the problems that we are having are FSUIPC problems not AS5 problems in my oppinion this is one of the buggyest versions of FSUIPC I have used (registered). We Haven't had a release in months are we going to get a release soon? Can any of the AS team tell me?

Is there any way to set up FS9 such that flying into a thunderstorm causes aircraft damage? I can fly right through them now with no problem. Would like to actually have to avoid thunderstorms along my route to avoid end of flight due to aircraft damage.Thanks

Hi,Scenario: I am flying over the fiords of British Columbia, Queen Charlotte Sound area, making use of the excellent Ultimate Terrain Canadian scenery and hi res FSGenesis 38m mesh. Typical BC actual weather has several low cloud layers and this is very well depicted in ASV so I am seeing very little so I select the WX Configurator to give me a nice cloudfree picture with 12SM vis apply it to a range of 100NM of CYZT, the nearest station, and update. Noting earlier comments in this forum I disable the TAF processing, have no update suppression and ensure that the Metar I construct does not contain a 000000Z timegroup which might invalidate it at 301045Z. Hi, 1. Why does the decode on the rhs of ASV show Vis: 9999 Meters, 15 SM? 15SM is 24140 meters. Should it show >9999? In this case the relevant metar was showing 15 SM. 2. What is the logic used to determine vis when a metar actually reports >9999 or CAVOK?3. I'd also be interested to know how ASV determines cloud tops?(for info I am a retired forecaster)Mervyn

I still seem to be getting marked wind shifts on short final. The winds at destination were 20 knots but during approach only had 8 knots until 200 ft above the threshold when the 20 knots suddenly kicked in with drastic consequences. Settings all default except FS9 Haze being disabledBruceb

It took a while and quite a bit of tweaking, but I have really come to love this new program. I decided to fly from Minneapolis/St Paul to Grand Forks (very good weather today!) When I took off from KMSP it was raining and on my laptop was the weather radar (real) and it showed the storms moving eastbound. When using ASV I am getting squarish or cubes of cloud formations. Mostly there is one cube with one cloud formation and the remaining sky is normal cloud formations. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
