Trend Micro Houseclean recently claimed my computer had spyware on it (MS Antispy didn't). I told it to fix it (big mistake) and it screwed up Activesky 5 as well as flightsim - so I assume it falsely reported it as spyware - just thought I'd let you know - so anyone using Trend Micro be careful before you tell it to "fix" things.

Whenever I am using ICS clouds in ASV 5, I get an error message after the the downloaded weather data has been written to FS 2004 and then the Generating ActiveRadar Data. The error message: "Error on Submit..FS Folder Target: C:Progam FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9" After I click "OK" in the error message box, then ASV 5 reads ICS cirrus clouds submitted and updated. I am usually flying a Boeing 747-400 at altitudes of 37000 feet. I just bought FE yesterday after reading how it works with ASV and have to say, I was very impressed. 1 problem though. I used 512 x 512 textures and loaded a flight from Luton to Schiphol in the PMDG B1900C (Very heavy clouds). FPS are locked at 20. In VC mode, FPS are always above 19.0 no matter where the view is. However, in 2D, while front view is hitting 19fps, all other views slow the sim to 5fps.Opinons or advice?RegardsGoran

Are there currently server problems?I have just started ASV, positioned at EGCC and ASV tells me the active weather is 212050Z.Current date/time is 251830Z.Ignore. Just done a second refresh and weather is now 251550Z, still 3hours out but better than 4 days :-)

Hi,I have just set up for a session on FS2004 today 25th June 14:23 BST 13:23 ZULU. I have run ASV and it only loaded 4k of 370k and then said that the ICS had set random cirrus cloads and the default station of DGTK was given as DGTK 241700Z 25015KT 9999 FEW010 SCT110 BKN250 27/22 Q1011 NOSIG RMK AUTOGEN ASV. I have not altered any setting since I last used it on 24th June and the weather was just 2 hours old and correct.It is set for online weather and ICS + random sky/env. Is there any reason for the weather being 24 hours old as I like to fly with current weather.ThanksMike EGGP

Hi AS gangFirst off well done on a great product... I did however notice a frame rate hit between as 2004.5 B193 and AS5 with the SU installed. Can something be done about this espically during updates... Anyway I was wondering if the Mip Maps could negitively affect performance as I found perfrormance better with mips off, also disabeling global writes seemed to help some. Also can we have the throttling feature back please. Apart from that well done gang on a great product!!! Hi Guys,I have not seen this mentioned before, but when I import the FPL for ASV to process, it takes between 30 and 50 minutes to process.This was not the case with AS2004.5, it took 2 or 3 minutes tops. Now, like I say, with a FPL that has around 40 or 50 waypoints, it takes the better part of an hour.ASV is running on a P4-3GHz, with 2Gb RAM, and has a 512Kb DSL and connected to the FS PC via Gigabit LAN...Any thoughts guys??Appreciate it...CheersBryan

Hello chapsAs a very happy user of ActiveSky 20004.5, I recently purchased ASV - mostly because of the AE element and AI refresg feature.So, while doing some housekeeping on my flightsim folder, I cleared out the AS 2004.5 folder (despite thinking I'd already done that!) and on loading a fleet, the sim crashed after refreshing AI.So I read this forum, repaired my ASV install. This time after selecting a flight, pressing fly now, I get a black screen, lots of hard drive and CD-ROM drive activity, and a crash.Please help!Rob

One of the things that was holding me back from ActiveSky was anxiety about framerates. I bought ASV the day it came out, set the cloud layers to 3, and haven't noticed any degradation whatsoever. Just lots of cool weather systems, smooth transitions, and -- the best thing in my opinion -- weather that you can see in the distance before you fly into or around it. Well done!

I have AS2004.5 with update3.zip running now. I have read some posts where some individuals have had some problems with the ASV upgrade. My computer skills are not such that would allow me to easily perform some of the fixes that have been suggested. Should I risk the ASV.5 upgrade or should I go ahead and purcahse the full version? :-zhelp

I've had Active sky since wxRE and I've seen how great all these improvements have been ever since. All I have to look out my window and see what an accomplishment ASV is. It's amazing to see how far our hobby has come and what we all can do. I'm pretty sure we all share the same interest in our hobby - Flight! With such talented individuals such as Chris Willis and many more, I cannot believe how our hobby keeps developing. Without these people, who knows what our hobby would be like. Thank you to HiFi, as well as every other developer,artist,simmer that makes this hobby great.

.....but I'll ask anyway!!When the ASV manual refers having AS5 autoselct textures prior to loading up FS, does it mean prior to clicking on the FS icon on my desktop or does it mean prior to clicking "fly" after selecting aircraft,time of day and departure airport.Currently I run the following sequenceRun ASV - ICS and Random Sky/Env selected. Start Paused unselected. Run FS (from icon)Load in destination airport etcWait for ASV to finish loaing weatherFly.I don't always load a flightplan although I know this means that some features of AS5 won't run.

Hi Joe,It is due to missing weather station data. I did look into it from my end and couldn't do anything more. AS I understand it from reading the manual and from all the post on this forum concerning texture loading at ASV startup. ASV cannot load textures with FS running, except Cirrus. So how is ASV going to work as advertised using WideFS if FS must be running for WideFS to connect and allow ASV to communicate with FS thru the network ? ASV would have to write the textures to FS thru the standard Windows network and shared folders before it connects to FS using WideFS. If I'm correct on that assumption, then is it necessary to map a drive from the WideFS PC to the FS PC before loading ASV and planning the flight or will it simply do what it needs to do accross the normal netwo…

First off Congratulations to the ASV Team for an excellent product. I have been using AS2004.5 with FS SkyWorld using the Alternative Cumulus B set 3 textures. I've since upgraded to ASV and selected all the great textures and still prefer the above cumulus texture. My question to Chris is Can you tell me which ASV cumulus texture would you say closely matches the above texture, if any, and would there be any drawbacks to using the FsSkyworld texture over your ASV texture such as texture not being optimized for ASV, other ASV clouds and sky sets not blending as intended, etc.Thank-You

Hi,From today's morning I'm experiencing a very strange issue. My ActiveSky is running on a second PC and takes weather to my FS through WideFS. I have been flying a lot and it has been working perfectly until today. Now it's taking only yesterday's metar and only time 1750Z. When looking at the ActiveSky "Active WX" display, then it's also showing 221750Z. Both the system times on the FS PC and second PC are correctly set and also my FS time is correct. I cannot understand where is it taking such a strange time and why it doesn't go OK.Please someone help me out. Thanks so much.

I am very pleased with it and can do the basics such as load real weather and apply the themes in the WX configurator in offline mode.However, I am struggling to work a couple of things out.1. How do you get Active Environment to actually put the weather in the sim? The message says that all is well but no weather ever applies when using Active Environment. I am loading themes and updating sections etc.2. How do you add themes to the WX configurator? So far I have only used the themes to find out whether things are working. Hi EveryoneI believe there have been earlier threads on how to start ASV so that the current weather at the location of FS2004 will be current.The way I have been starting ASV is first start FS2004 then minimize then start ASV.What is happening the dates and times displayed are 06/23/00:25 local and 06/23/04:25 Zulu, which are correct.The weather I am receiving is 2218:15 Hrs. which is about 10 hrs behind.I have tried disconnecting both FS2004 and ASV and then rebooting and I get the same weather even though the local time changes when I reboot ASV.I also tried moving the aircraft to a different part of the province and still get the same as above.Can someone explain how …

What should the RATE OF CHANGE be set to within FS9-dynamic weather or does ASV override these settings?My default flight (after having cleared all weather before saving) is set at user defined weather/rate of change medium.
