hi there,purchased ASV upgrade a couple of days ago, but didn't have time so far to play with it, but I'm sure its a well designed product (as with all preceding products) :-)anyhow, i'm still struggle with the different time settings and would like the use the new feature offline sequential playback mode together with TAF.so, i would like to depart at my home airport at, say, 10:00 FS time. Current System time (+2) would be 18:00 (+2 equals Zulu 16:00). therefore,i need to download the weather file for 12:00 Zulu time, which is 10:00 FS Time - right?! that means, when flying in other part of our fs world, I also need to be aware of the correct time zone to download the r…

If I start ASV and let it load, and the start FS and load my default flight, then I use "go to airport" in FS, how long should it take before the ASV updates the weather at my new airport location?

First post guys so go easy.I recently bought Active Sky and although generally extremely impressed, I'm finding some aspects of it a bit hit and miss.At the moment I just choose the weather at Manchester Airport and update the world to show this. This didn't work last night no matter how many times I restarted my pc, FS9 and ASV etc.I have read the instructions and played about but I am still not totally confident about some of its functions.So, I have some questions.1. Hi GuysI'm experiencing something strange with ASV: Although I have the update interval set to 10 mins (default), I have an elapsed time of about 35 mins between updates. I know that AS 4.5 used to vary by a minute or two, but 25 mins?I have a DSL 5000/512 connection which is permanently connected, and my firewall is configured to allow ASV to connect. .Hi Everyone:I have been using Active Sky for several years, and for the past several months, I started generating flight plans without creating a new route.I am unsure whether generating a new route eliminates the distortion to the sound when there are numerous clouds.The reason why I say this is after purchasing ASV and generating several flight plans I was still getting the distortion with the sound during heavy cloud cover.My last flight I did generate a new route and completed a 2 hour flight with heavy cloud cover and not one hint of the sound breaking down.I guess what I am asking would generating a new route actually help in preventing the stutter or distortion …

Just bought the upgrade to V5. Have tried to download twiceon my LAN T1 connection, but on both ocassions gave up afterwaiting for 20 minutes for download. What gives?Thanks

Hi!I have a home cockpit with multi computer configuration (see http://butik.ktm.net.pl/cockpit.htm).I want to use Active Sky on a different computer than Flight Simulator. I assume it should be installed semi-twice: cloud sets on FS machine and engine on remote machine. Is it possible?Bye - Michal

Hi Bruce,Sorry you are having trouble. First report of this. Are you sure that the layers were not at 1400 and 2500? One suggestion is to lock your FPS in FS04. Even with the update installed ASV will not remain paused until refreshed. As soon as I start it up it begins its update unlike 04.5. What can I do to get this to stop?THanks a ton -

In order to get the proper clouds you have to start ASV and input your route - then do a refresh - then start FS9 and then start your flight. However when I load FS9 and it goes to the create a flight screen it detects my location as that of my default flight and then it loads the weather for that location not my route, so I have to load the flight, and wait for it to load the wrong weather, then load the real weather again.Is there any way around this?

Hi,I'm very pleased with the NEW ASV, but I find thebest way to start-up to ensure fresh clouds is to:-1. Start FS9 (Full screen),When the first menu window appears,Window it.2. Start ASV, let it update.3. Maximise FS9, select flight then clear weather via FSUIPC.Pause - window FS9 again.4. Update AI via ASV.6. Maximise FS9 again, then I get true weatherpicture - and correct AI traffic direction. Allis well.May I make a suggestion, If "Update AI" was adropdown in FS9 - or a shortcut via FSUIPC,this would make the system very user friendly!Regards

I've noticed that some of the thermals can be rather strong, stronger than I've experienced in any real flying. I realize around mountains you can get some really strong verticle air currents, but just normal thermals aren't quite so strong I thought, especially the downdrafts. Yet flying in North Dakota today - with not even a hill to be seen to produce anything resembling a mountain wave I hit a downdraft so strong the 172 couldn't even keep level in it. The ground temperature was 21C, skies were clear.My real flying experience is somewhat limited (40 hours) but I've never experienced this or heard of it anywhere but when it was a downdraft associated with mountain wave…

What do other users have this setting on, i guess its personal prefreance but what is the average setting by default im trying 80 mi sight and 80 mi draw which was on 150 mi sight and 80 mi draw, it seems some have this setting on the lowest possible setting.Now i understand it varies from system to system but even if wouldn't you want to lose detail somewhere else and keep this setting way ahead so you can see clouds in the distance, i mean thats the realism of it isn't it?Anyway just curious mind typing!!!

Hi,Posted about this once before and wonder if something could be done to the download speed? Like someone else said it shouldn't have to take between 30-45 seconds to download only 370KB.Of course this isn't a BIG issue, but it does get annoying to have to wait for that every time you fire up ASV.TIA,

After reading about Active sky 4.5 in other forums, I proceeded to obtain the latest version. Hi everyone.Very happy with ASV but I am getting a nagging problem which has happened twice in less than a week.I start ASV and it immediately minimises to desktop and when I click the restore button it does not react. All other programmes minimise and restore correctly.The first time this happened I completely removed and reinstalled both ASV and AS2004 butthis time that is not working. I am beginnin to think I have got an issue with the upgrade and wonder if I should go for the full version?ThanksJohn

Are there settings people recommend for the sudden visibilty changes? Do I really need to load a flight plan each time to fix this? I was just flying around Floriday using real weather, t-storms galore!, but I kept getting sudden visibility changes. I tried default fsuipc settings and then checked the vis limits but neither seemed to fix it. My visiblity smooth setting is every 2 seconds, tried 10 as well. I'm just not sure the best settings to help correct this problem, any help would be appreciated.By the way, thank you for the update! It is a real pleasure to see such quick bug fixing for a great product!

First of all, thanx for a great update.However, I have a question regarding the MIP-mapping. I have searched the forum here but not found any help on the matter so I have to write a post of my own. I understand You have had lots of MIP mapping questions so I hope You bear with me.I downloaded imagetool and installed as stated, and the mip mapping conversion starts fine (I'm trying to mip-map the 256-textures)However, it is said to take a few minutes, but i left the computer on overnight, happily mip-maping (I thought) but when the light of the first morning of the first day arose... (ahem...) the next morning it was still mip-mapping, with no apparent CPU cycles or HD act…
