Having been a long time user of default weather in FS and actually thinking it quite satisfactory, I decided to try ASV after hearing only positive things (not only this version but previous ones as well). WOW, am i impressed. The amount of options and depth offered in the package is overwhelming (in a good way of course). On my last flight i spent more time outside of the cockpit than i did on the inside, which is a rare occurance. I reluctantly hopped back into the cockpit to make an approach in spectacular weather conditions. Thank you HiFi simulations for providing the community with such an immersive environment and great dedication to the project.Hats off, Francis F…

  4. I want to insall ASV on a laptop I use as a second computer with WideFS when flying online. I would like to know:1) Can I install ASV on both computers so I can use it on the FS computer when I am using only that computer? 2) Alternatively, do I have to uninstall AS2004.5 from the FS computer or can I use it when I am using only one computer?Peter Lowry

I believe you stated that the effects created by the Haze slider in the Environment options are only for the visibility and near the mountains if the Asv Option: Depict Fs9 Haze Layer is disabled. If having "depict FS9 haze layer" nullifies whatever I have the haze layer set to in the Environment options, I'll leave it off as I'd rather have the varying haze provided by the haze slider.So...By leaving the "depict FS9 haze layer" option on, does it completely override the choice made w/ the Haze slider?Or...Will the haze layer depicted by FS9 use the options (thickness, etc.) set by the haze slider in the ASV Environment settings?

Damian,I did the install of ASV...up and running just fine...but I do have a question of how it does it. I installed ASV on a WideFS computer that never runs FS9...and the default installation placed the new ASV files into that computers installation of FS9.Immediately on starting ASV the program found my actual FS9 server computer and ported the real world weather in Florida....to that computer and 6 other server computers that run FS9 via WideView. My question is....with the large file size of ASV that contains numerous new cloud types....how the heck do those files GET to my Server and Clients via WideFS?Do I need to copy the new Texture and cloud files to the other com…

I was wondering how much of an improvement the 512 X 512 cloud textures give over the default download for AS5? I think (hope!)I've got a machine that's man enough for the job (AMD 64 3500+,1G RAM, 6600GT 128MB) but I'd like to know the findings of others before I consider adding them to my hard drive.

And I have searched the various threads in the various forums, but I am still unsure about a couple of things.First off, hats off to you all for doing a tremendous job at answering the many questions, even when questions are asked that are clearly answered in the manual (like I was doing). You all are showing a very professional attitude.I have only taken a couple of short flights, and both times have been very impressed. I have noticed what seems to be an excellent depiction of the weather, way better than AS2004.5. I realize some of this may be a placebo effect, but if so, very little of it. Last flight I saw some clouds forming in the distance as I flew, and whether it…

  20. Before I get flamed, I did read the manual but am a little confused as to what I need to do to have the current weather downloaded and using AE textures. I'm not interested in creating my own weather but want ASv to do it for me using the most appropriate textures for given current weather conditions. So in options--AE which box do I check ?:ICS + RandomICS + Last SkyAll RandomAll manual Also do I need to click/press the update buttons within the AE interface if I only want the current weather conditions? Thanks guys...good work!-Mike

Hi allCongratulations on the new product, having much better framerates with it, and with the reccomended settings.Only a small question and not directly linked to ASV, I meant to ask it months ago.In the nav log it gives an average wind ie 354/34 for the inputted flightplan, is it easily possible for Mr. Average like myself, to work out what the average head/tail wind will be ie +20 or -20 as the above example 354/34 doesn't give this I don't think! Thanks in advanceGarry

Hi, I have two questions:1. When I used FS Skyworld I could choose between several times of towering-anvil clouds for thunderstorms, but now, in the Active Environment, I can't see any towering clouds, neither in FS itself, and when I set thunderstorm I can't see those vertical anvil-headed clouds. What am I missing?2. Can FS Skyworld be uninstalled without consequencies on ASV?Thank you and congratulations for ASV!
