I flew from KBLI into Canada because I installed Ultimate Terrain Canada & FSScene USA/Canada. I picked an arrival airfield at random and took off about 1 hour before dusk. I flew a twin turboprop. The clouds and sunset were fantastic! Low cloud could be seen in the valleys. Towering CB could be seen ahead, with clearer conditions either side. When I say towering CB, thats exactly what I meant - I couldn't see the tops of the clouds past the window!I started my approach (no ILS) and reduced speed to 108 knots full flap. All the way down towards the runway I had choppy conditions, requiring lots of control inputs and power changes. Got to 500ft and she fell out the sky!…

Hi,I would like to know how wind direction and speed is calculated in the summary chart below(from the bottom of the AS4.5 wx report. Sorry, but I cannot get it to format properly :-()? Is this an average value based on the values for the different flight levels from the wx reporting stations along the route? Looking at the reported temperatures, it seems that all of the reported winds are for CRZ level only(else I would strongly advise against attempting a landing at Heathrow during the hurricane. :-)).Also, my ground speeds are a little out of whack, the reason being that they are based upon a single manually entered KTAS value(450 knots). These questions arose for me ma…

Today I took off from KLAX. Total overcast/fog/haze (can't remember which). But when I reached 4000 the overcast completely dissapeared and KLAX could be seen it all its beaty. Visibility was now unlimited it seemed. Well, I wanted to test it out and requested landing clearance, but all KLAX tower told me was that the airport is IFR!?!?! What gives? I can figure out on my own that this issue is all graphical, as KLAX tower actually just reacted to the METAR. When I landed, the vis was very low allright. But the shift from high to low vis was (again) very sudden and surprising. Please, can you help with recommended settings?/sebastianPS: I don't think this is caused by the …

Gents,A couple minor things I've been having issues with or have noticed.1. In the NAVLOG the departure and destination WX window always shows the same DXXX metar whenever you manually enter the route. The wind aloft data also shows the DXXX data. What is strange is that the bottom Navlog and waypoint detail window shows the correct data. Everything works fine if you import a flightplan.2. The task bar icon always reads "ASV - FS Disconnected" even when the main program reads FS Active. 3. I can't seem to get ASV to connect to FS9 when I use my registered version of FSUIPC. works fine if I delete my key and use it unregistered. These are by no means show stoppers. I think…

Hi,Noticed that the 370KB download of online weather seems very slow in ASV. Is this by design for some reason? I have a 10 Mbit connection to Internet so downloading 370KB should only take a few seconds. Thanks in advance,

Hi, I'm new to Active Sky with ASV just downloaded and running. My experience so far has been very positive but with one major downside:- that if I make changes in ASV, e.g. in Wx Configurator to set the scene clear of cloud so that I can see the scenery after loading the flight with online weather running, the change doesn't seem to take place unless I close down the sim and start the flight again (albeit it the place I left it). Is this to be expected? If so I think I may have wasted my money! Even the default allows you to change the weather in flight. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? On a different tack does ASV allow you to have proper vertical convection? It would b…

Hi !ive got some quests i would like answeared (again) so here it goes. The option use system time vs fs time iam confused with.As you know i live in Sweden so my time conversion value is +2 if i were to fly in USA for example from KSFO with -7 as time would the option automaticly know where iam at??. Becuse if i use FS real time instead an addon program it automaticly tells me the time conversion value. What it all comes down to is i really want the TAF to be REAL as in real time but iam concerd that if i have it on and wont use fs real time it will think iam in sweden (maybe) when iam actully flying in USA and so to follow the TAF will be wrong becuse of the time convers…

I live in Newfoundland and our time zone in summer is -2.5 and winter -3.5 the ASV zulu time is not showing the -.5 offset. As I am writing this the local time is 19:30 the zulu time should be 22:00, ASV is showing the zulu time as 22:30. 2004.5 did show the correct zulu time. Only a minor problem but it will effect the TAF when running on any computer with 1/2hr offset in time. Not just in Newfoundland. Something for the next service update. By the way the Vickers Vimy is awesome to see up close.Brian CYYT

I'm using ASV for three days now, and I have to say that the overall appearance of FS is much better. The ICS and random texture generation add a unique factor in every flight. In overall, everything loks great. My only complain is the ASV interface operation in general... It's slow. Downloading is slow, updating stations is slow and in general the updating process seems to slow down the whole system. The AS2004 interface was much faster and setting up a flight was a matter of 1-2 minutes. ASV seems to take ages, and when FS is running, operation of the ASV window is sloooow.Other than that, I'm very pleased with the product.Best RegardsKostis

I really want to purchase ASV but am stuck in the sticks of Oregon where I have no DSL, or cable. Ancient 56K dial up. I have DAP.It will take many hours to download with lots of connection losses. Is there an option for resume available or will there be? I understand that at some point a CD will be available - I suppose I may have to wait? Also, PayPal has muddled my account so bad that I cannot use it anymore and because my e-mail hasn't changed, I cannot create a new account. I saw somewhere that another payment option for credit cards was in the mix. Any idea when the resume and credit card options might be available?Dave Sheridan

When I takeoff from an airport, like KVNY, and I have ASV all loaded up and ready to go, I will get the Metar, and the weather will be reasonably similar in terms of visibility, but never in terms of cloud cover. The overcast layer, which is currently at 300 overcast at VNY, is nowhere to be found. But, then I found something interesting, I take off, and I fly around the airport, all the way up to 10,000 MSL in a Cessna. The reported weather is all around the airport, but there always seems to be a big "hole" where the weather is clear, etc. But, everywhere else around it, the weather is what is reported.I do not have anything suppressed or any zones set.

Has anyone had an issue with ASV causing FS to crash when the option to update AI is used? I have not applied the "service pack" as of yet, but I will tonight. Just curious to see if anyone else has had that issue. BTW - I have ASV running on a Widefs PC. Other than that, ASV is an absolutely wonderful product. Great job guys!

I've had ASV for about half a day. I can get it to generate weather and it's beautiful. But I'm eager to get AE working.Trick is ASV is running on a WideFS client. Here's what I've done so far:1. Share my Microsoft Games folder with client. Client can read, modify, write. Tested this on client computer using Windows Explorer.2. On client, map Microsoft Games folder to S: (for Simulator).3. On client computer running ASV, I made a copy of my ASV.ini file. Just in case. Then I edited the following line in ASV.ini to read:FS9Path = S:Flight Simulator 9Ok, I think, this should tell AE where to put the texture files. But when I try to Submit a texture set in AE, I receive the …

This won't solve everyone's problems, but it fixed mine and maybe it will help someone else. Please note: my description assumes that you understand how to use Windows Explorer, that you know what things like * mean in the context of filenames, and that you already have WideFS up and running the rest of ASV successfully. If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. In my asv.ini file (on my WideFS client computer), I had pointed ASV to the correct path for FS on (on my WideFS server -- the one that actually runs Flight Simulator). Yet when I tried to "Submit" new textures in Active Environment Configuration, I got a very stubborn "Error on Submit. Target: computernam…
