Hi, I realize on initial setup that ASV backed up my FS9 Texture folder. That's OK. I have since backed up the folder offline on a CD. Now when I start up ASV it saves the folder again. I DO NOT WANT THE OLD TEXTURE FOLDER ON MY HD!! that's why I backed it up offline. How do I remove the backup texture folder from my system without having ASV backing it up again? Is there a switch I have to turn off? This is a good feature, but if it is irreversable some one there did not think it through. Not a smart programing feature as far as I am concerned. if I don't want 140mb taking up disk space on my HD I should have the option to remove it without ASV interfering.Rega…

Hi bob,I know you guys have been back and forth about the plane stuff. Now what happens if you don't use ASV? or if you use AS2004.5?We tested the cr** out of ASV and no one one the beta team experienced this. Now I am NOT saying that it couldn't be ASV. All I am looking for is a test to see IF it is ASV as it stand right now on your machine. Can you test things for us? We would appreciate the information!!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

Hi all,I'm doing a flight from KSTL to KTUL, here is the current ATIS:KSTL 222314Z 29005KT 10SM BKN040CB 32/19 A3013 RMK DYNAMIC TAF ELEMENTAnd decoded:Wind: 290 True, 5 KtsVis: 9999 Meters, 10 SMClouds: 4000 OvercastPrecip: Heavy RainTemp: 32C Dew: 19CPressure: 1020.19 mb, 30.13 inchesSure enough I checked the weather in St Louis, and it's fair. Why did AS decode the above like Broken clouds to mean Overcast, it got the 4000 right, then where did it get the heavy rain? It's not even supposed to rain, and why does it say TAF in the weather report when I've loaded the current real time in St Louis. Please help I'm sure there's a simple fix that I overlooked. Thanks,Jeff

Hi,I read a thread last week concerning the removal of ASV4.5. The procedure was to find the full install file created with the upgrade installer and use the repair function.I seached my hard drive for such an installer and cannot find one. What is the exact file name and where did you put it? :) I did see any reference to location. Thanks.Bob...

Trying to figure out why my autopilot is going crazy. Just started about the same time I upgraded to 5.0. May or may not have anything at all to do with Active Sky but my limited testing seems to indicate my problem only occurs with asv running.. The AP will sometimes blow though my set altitude then descend right back through it often all the way to the ground. The AP seems to have trouble with both maintaining altitude and real problems with a maintaining a set rate of climb or decent. I have change versions of fsuipc, deleted and reloaded the plane with no change. I also disabled the vertical air and vas points.

Anyone's using this feature?I ask because it doesn't work on my PCI download a METAR sequence, a desired METAR + Additional Consecutive 3-4 Hours; after that i load a FS flightplan and press refresh to get updated textures (Intelligent Cloud Selection). At that point FS local Date/Time and FS Zulu Date/time are correct and also Active wx.But, as soon as i start FS9, ASV displays FS local Date/Time and FS Zulu Date/time as my FS9 starting situation (September 8th 2004) and tells me it cannot start Offline Sequence Playback (of course as it cannot find 9/8/2004 METAR's).On the contrary i thought FS9 Date/time should set suiting ASV metar date/time. Am i wrong?BTW i have disa…

I tried the weather sequencing today for the first time and stumbled across something weird:I downloaded this sequence2005-06-21 09z to 12z, resulting in these files:20050621_09Z_archive.dat20050621_10Z_archive.dat20050621_11Z_archive.dat20050621_12Z_archive.datNow when looking inside these files at ESGP, the third hour is from the day before:ESGP::ESGP 210920Z 18012KT 9999 SCT033 BKN055 19/14 Q1014::ESGP...ESGP::ESGP 211020Z 14007KT 110V170 9000 TSRA FEW005 SCT022CB BKN040...ESGP::ESGP 201020Z 20008KT CAVOK 21/09 Q1019::ESGP 210830Z 210921...ESGP::ESGP 211150Z 14011KT 5000 TS RA FEW046CB OVC061 16/16...I know for sure that it was not CAVOK at that time. Hello there.I'm a very happy user of ASV, you've done a very great work!I have a little annoying thing to report.I start my flights usually in this way:- start ASV, process the flight plane and then hit 'Refresh' to submit the textures to FS9- start FS9, setup my flight and start it from an airport that's _not_ KSEA. Briefly the 'metar strip' on the top shows my local METAR- I then start&connect FS Flight Keeper from inside the cockpit (using the 'flights' menu. FSFK loads and start the new flight record correctlyBut at this point the 'metar strip' on the top reappears reporting me the KSEA METAR... All the weather in my current airport is then changed according to th…

Hi AllI have my FS settings Cloud Draw 40/64 and Sight 60/96 and I am getting flickering clouds during my flights.I believe I had a similar problem with AS and I believe the solution may have to do something with Global writes. Can someone please advise what settings I should use to prevent the flickering.Tks. for any comments.Kenny G.

Hi Jim and teamHow does ASV interact with FS Real time in relation to "system time" and "FS2004 time". If you are using FS Real Time what do we check or not check as the case may be, in the options pane, to achieve the most realistic results?ThanksPeter Hayes

Hi guys:I have been a AS user for about two years (I think) and have always been VERY happy with the product. No problems what so ever.I decided to buy ASV based on this... and the reduced price. I am finding that it is MUCH more taxing on my system. I will try to give some examples of my settings (general), and my system specs. Please let me know if you see something that I could try, in order to improve FPS. Please do not suggest using lower cloud settings. That would be counter productive.1) I followed the manual to the letter as far as FS settings go.2) I have ASV configured as suggested as far as the START up proceedure. I start ASV before FS and load the flight plan…

Hi guys,I'm having a problem keeping ASV working for any length of time. It will run fine for a couple of times, then after a computer restart, I get the following when I try to start ASV:Run time error 339component chilkatzip.dll or one of its dependencies not correctly resistered : a file is missing or invalid.I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, and the same scenario keeps happening. I have also used the repair function, and again, it will work for awhile, then the same thing again. Any help in making ASV stick will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Bill

I feel a bit foolish asking this, but I read in another thread that it is not necessary to generate the mip-maps for each of the cloud resolutions. Unfortunately, that's exactly what I did. So the question is, will that cause any problems? Do I need to reinstall?

Hi everyone,I have a slight problem, i fly online (VATSIM) with AS2004.5 running to give me the weather but AS weather never matches up with the weather they are using on VATSIM, for example last night at Manchester the vis was 1500 with heavy rain, but AS was saying the vis was 5000 and no rain. I checked the time that the metar was taken and the AS active weather is nearly 2hrs ahead of the VATSIM weather. I have tried ticking and unticking the Use VATSIM weather when online box in AS options but it doesnt work. Any ideas? And do you know if ASV solves this?Cheers,Nathanial

Just thought I would pass on some info I cam across a while back that really helped my computer's performance and it's free and easy. We all know that background programs can hinder the performance of FS. This is a suggestion from the Microsoft website:"When you perform a clean boot, you prevent these programs from starting automatically. You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure. To restart your computer by using a clean boot procedure, follow these steps when you are using Windows XP.N…

I tried to install the upgrade from AS2004 to ASV. I had to enter the path to AS2004, since it didn't automatically detect it (C/ProgramFiles/MicrosoftGames/FS9/Modules). From there on it seemed to install something and finish, but there is no ASV on my computer anywhere. Now when I go back to re-install I get a box of choices to Modify, Repair, or Remove, which would lead me to believe the installer detects ASV somewhere. I tried Modify and Repair, but I still can't find ASV anywhere. Thanks for any suggestions.Ed
