What is the correct install procedure for this,as far as MR's, updates? Thank's from Jim.
-
Just a wild guess but are you trying to install the update to ASV instead of the upgrade for AS2004 users? The update for ASV users is named ASV-SU1.zip.

Before I install asv 5.0 I want to make sure I can go back to FS 9 default clouds sky etc. In fact what if I am happy with current sky and don't want to change it?What happens if after I install ASV 5.0 and I run FS 9 by itself. What clouds will it use?ThanksGreg

Hi after installing ASV 5 the time of day doesn't change.ie if i create a flight at dawn...i can only fly with the dawn textures...shouldn't it get lighter as the day progresses???? I have changed the texture settings but that shouldn't stop the dawn becoming gradually brighter..or viceversa dusk becoming night.hope this makes sense???. any help appreciated steve

Hi,A question about the startup procedure, please just let me know if my thinking is correct. If a use the 'Start Paused' and 'Un-Pause when FS ready' parameters together with the ICS + random startup mode I will get the correct local weather for the flight I've just loaded but the random textures picked and submitted by the ICS + random mode will not be active until the next time I start FS since they are submitted after FS has already been started.But...if I get this right that would mean that by using this startup method, I will still always have randomly chosen textures...only that I will get the textures picked LAST flight by the ICS + random mode instead of the textu…

When I start up at Newark, and listen to atis in FS2004, it always gives Seattle. I close and restart ASV, and it says sky clear, yet the metar says broken at 6000. Is there a setting in FS9 that has to be changed to use this weather?

HI,I have just encountered what must be the quickest flight level change ever. I was flying along at 370 when all of a sudden all #### broke loose. My aircraft showed as being now at FL400 and speed was well over 500!! I disconnected autopilot and hand flew for a few seconds, when suudenly I'm at FL320 !! This all in the space of a few seconds and the aircraft showed no signs of descending, it was as if I had used the slew option.I disconnected ASV and used vatsim weather instead through SB3 and all settled down. This obviously seemed to be related to ASV. By the way I have wake turbulence turned off so it was nothing to do with that.Any ideas guys.RegardsDrayton

Just wanted to give a user report.AMD 3500+ OCed, 6800GT ULtra OCed, 2 gigs ram,Audigy 2, system tweaked, ect, ect. Running just about every addon out there, all sliders maxed, with 4.5 I stayed pegged at 25 fps. First couple hours fiddling with 5.0 and Im down in the low teens and even worse. This is experimenting with the preset overcast, thunderstorm and a few others. Tried mips on/off/ reduced layers, visabilty, aa, af, and still its kicking my computers butt.Did a couple flights with light clouds with no hit but go IFR and its almost a slide show. This is even flying a few of the freewares known for great fps. Im afraid to think about the performance if I fly my Leve…

Just wondering if anyone with a P-4 processor with hyperthreading can tell me if there is any benefit in setting the affinity of the cpu to run FS9 on cpu 1 and ASV on cpu 2. I have been running this way ever since Reality XP had problems with hyperthreading. I run ASV,and FSNAV 4.7 and have the settings used above and get good performance with the exception of about 30 seconds into flight ASV must write to FS9 because I get a reduction in fps and a studder for about 10 seconds and this is with a P-4 3.4EE and an X800PE video card. Any info would be appreciated.

I'm trying to minimize the number of running services before I start an FS9 session. I use a program called "End It All" to accomplish this. I have noticed that ASV will not download weather after I close services. Is ASV dependent on one of the Windows Services?

There is a file in the themes folder named "last.aet". That file contains the last selection updated/submitted. I would like to suggest one improvement to the contents of this file: Rather than recording *only* the last update for an entire category (e.g., if I select a night sky type it gets recorded, if I then select a day sky type it gets recorded and the night sky type is erased), the file should contain the last selection for each ***selectable*** category. In this way, the user knows exactly what they selected for each of the categories within Sky Type and Environment.-michael

I am getting an error message when trying to import flight plans. I am using a WideFS system. The program finds my flight plan files in the usual directory on the FS computer (My Flight Simulator Files in My Doccuments), but I get an error when it then tries to process the file. Seems to want to resave it on the WideFS computer but cannot access the necessary directory. Did not have this problem with previous version. Anyone have an idea as to what Active Sky 5 is trying to do?

When I fly with others online, they tell me that they get extreme turbulence on occasions. I get very little, can anyone tell me the best settings to use to get turbulence? Terry.

OK, I've read the last 6 days of post about ASV and I cannot understand why HiFi Sim has yet to publish a comprehensive manual for just WideFS users. We always get about 1 paragraph in the read me files and 1 paragraph in the users manual, yet there are always numerous questions surrounding the use of activesky and widefs and with this version ASV and all the new textures and AE, It's near impossible to figure out what to do to ensure the program operates and is configured correctly for use on a network, with FS9 not even on the same computer with ASV.I have been using WideFS for 4 yrs, with both activesky and FSMeteo and Squawkbox. just tell me one thing, I don't want AS…

I have ASV with Wide FS loaded on a remote computer. This computer is a laptop that also has FS 9 on it that I use for a mobile FS system. The install went well, it backed up the Remote system FS 9 texture folder. I assume I need this to happen on the FS 9 Main system. I have mapped a drive on the remote computer to the FS 9 folder on the main FS computer. How does the cloud textures get copied from the WideFS Remote system to the Main FS computer? Do they have to be copied manually?I just need some clarification? Also I had Flight Environment installed on both systems, what is the impact on Flight Environment's cloud textures? Thanks!Barry

First off, thumbs up for a great product. ASV is really amazing.Having said that I seem to have a problem with the radar display of active radar. It doesn't show a thing. Now to make sure I had heavy rainfall I picked the hurricane theme from the preset weather menu, but even there, not a single speckle of indicated rainfall on my radar display.I tried all settings, checked if it was on properly, made sure I had a high update frequency (went to set it to 1 minute) but nothing.Tracking tells me I have heavy rain at the airport where I am located at, the radar however tells me there is none. What am I missing here?I verified with RealityXP's weather radar and that one clearl…

I know everyone's been busy fielding questions and getting the 512x512 installation to work correctly. Now that it is, is there any chance of getting a 128x128 texture set?

This really isn't all about ASV but the whole FS in general. I was having pretty good frame rates with my system:Asus P4c800eP4 3.2 OC'ed to 3.7ATI X800 pro1 gig OCZ 3200But being the person I am I went out and got a better video card seeing that the rest of my system doesnt need any upgrading. I went out and got an ATI X850 XT. Man 650 bucks. I wiped out my HDD and reinstalled only what I needed. I installed ASV and flying from cyyc-cyeg, frames rates were dropping to 8-12! This is ridiculous. I was using third party aircraft and just to see how much effect the ASV has, i cleared up the skies and bang....pegged at 26 fps (locked there). With my system i should easily, wi…

Jim, Would I simply use the installer to remove the program? Would my 2004.5 then be the remaining program and untouched? I want to see if I can get a certain look with online or otherwise reporting to see if it really is ASV.CB

Alright, I have included the ASV settings and screenshot for this metar.KSEA 000000Z 27012KT 20SM OVC002 12/11 A3001We do have overcast on approach and it seems pretty accurate. That is the runway in front of me.Low vis would have made this a challenging approach. It definately takes some tweaking, and, notice I have everything on manual. The changing of the cloud textures each time, may have been a problem. Also, these are the 256x256. First photo is from 700 ABOVE, with a 200 overcast programmed into weather configurator for all stations.Second photo is ASV configThird photo is real flight low cloud cover on approach. They can land because they have runway environmen…

OK, I had AS2004 running excellantly on the setup i have using WideFS. I install ASV and set up a mapped drive to my FS2004 folder and point ASV to it on start up. I save the option as it says and when it gets done downloading data and writting it to disk and updating the weather I get the following error " Error on Submit..FSFolder Target: F:" F being my mapped drive to my fs folder. My FS folder is on my main computer on its own drive ( J:FS2004). The mapped drive points to this folder. Any ideas what I am doing wrong???? Ken
