Hi!"Limit Cloud Layer" option is set to 5 by default. My questions are:.is the upper layer (high cirrus, created even in CAVOK conditions) accounted as a layer for the "Limit Cloud Layer" purpose?.when "Overcast Enhancement" is checked, is an overcast condition (resulting in TWO overlying layers) accounted as ONE or TWO layers for the "Limit Cloud Layer" purpose?.I noticed METARs usually list a max of 3 clouds layers. So I guess I can limit cloud layers to 3 without losing too much weather detail? (Obviously, in the hypothesis the answers to the above questions are "NO" and "ONE").Thank you!Marco

Hi Jim,Have been talking to Damian Clark regarding my on going problems with CTD. I've spent some time doing exhaustive testing and "think" I've come to the conclusion that ASV is the source of the problem.What I've done:1. I've completely uninstalled all my Add-ons and uninstall FS9. Physically deleted the left over directories (including the stuff contained in Application Data and my User dir) and cleaned out my registry with any FS9 entries.2. I defragged my hard drive and started with a fresh FS9 install and then applied FS9.1 patch.3. I ran a several flights including a long 4 hr flight using 777, Baron, King Air, 747 with MS online weather update system active. A…

Hi guys,Having problems downloading the weather file - it begins but gets to 4k of 370k and stops, saying 'Current weather downloaded... yada yada'On the main ASV screen it also says 'Download cached'.Any ideas? I've installed SU2 and still no joy.

Hi,This may be just a curiosity but I have noticed while making yesterday an otherwise spectacular flight along the Grand Canyon an hour or so before sunset using ASV's sunset textures, real weather (nearest Metar KGCN 6609 feet asl), FSGenesis 10m mesh (displayed at 19m resolution in FS9) and Ultimate Terrain USA that, while KGCN has 10 mile vis which shows up nicely flying above the Canyon rim - see attached, when you go below that level the vis suddenly changes to a higher value -looks unlimited but is probably 30 miles as set with ASV max vis? The change when descending was at approx 500 feet below the rim, but didn't change back until nearer rim level, in the case I …

Can I download archive files on this computer to use with ASV on my home computer? The computer that I'm on now doesn't have ASV or FS9 on it but it does have a broadband connection, my home computer just has dialup. Yes, I'm at work right now but I could go to a local establishment that has Wi-Fi. I'd like to download wx file sets, put them on a thumb/jump/pen/USB drive and use them at home. Is this possible?

HiI am using Active Sky version 5 with Altitude Concorde and I am very disappointed by ASV's behaviour above FL400 it is unusable with Concorde.I have seen winds shifts from 80kts to 20kts then 80 again in just few minutes.It is impossible to reach Mach2 in those conditions and the aircraft is going up and down and I have overspeed warning every time.What seetings must I use on ASV to have a smooth flight with a Concorde?Thanks a lot for your helpYves

Hi gang,When should we enable TAF processing? I used it for the first time today and the weather updates / transitions seemd to be a smoothe as silk, it was a long flight too LMML - LIMC 648NM. Is it better to have TAF processing on or off? I didn't notice any degredation in FPS at all. I'm running into a boot to desktop problem when I run ActiveSkyV and I'm about 15-30 minutes into my flight. hello,I landed at PANC yesterday, but the the reporting data was not PANC but a "K" (sorry I cannot remember the rest. I'm using AS4.5 B193 and also an hour before my arriving I fetch and got PANC reporting. It was not just there when I got there and to make it even worse for a real time over 9 hour flight, I got penalize by FSpassengers for landing at LAD (Lake wood or lake hood Airport).This was a RWY 24R landing at PANC and parking at the Terminal next to the runway (If it makes a difference).What can be wrong? ThnxPS..I have bought ASV about 3 wks ago but waiting for DTX3 clouds before installation....Any estimate? thnx

Previous user of ActiveSky. But since installing ASV I have not been able to complete a flight when clouds are displayed. Usually when switching to outside view, FS freezes and sometimes sound goes into a loop or makes a horrible sound. I then need to reboot the computer wherein it tells me I have recovered from a serious error. This only occurs when using ASV, otherwise the computer and FS runs fine. I have tried various video drivers, bios and sound drivers are the latest. Hi guys, I bought ASV 5.0 a couple of weeks ago via Simmarket. I have made several installs/re-installs since I've used to play around with various clouds combinations, settings and programs like FlightOne "Flight Environmnent". Today, I decided to do another install and ran into the strange problem. Once I run the intstaller, the message box pop-up - "The feature you're trying to use is on network resource that is unavailable" and on the bottom "Click OK or try again or enter alternate path to the folder containing the installation package ASV-ActiveSky5.msi in the box below" I don't have any XXX.msi file in the ZIP file that I downloaded from Simmarket. Hi folks...My system is not all that great (Athlon XP 2500+, 1GB PC2700 RAM, GeForce 6600GT 128 MB 8X AGP, old 40 GB hard drive), and there are times where ASV can generate some cloud layers that, combined with complex add-on planes or scenery, can really crush my framerates well down into the single digits. (I've gotten 4 fps before trying to fly through a good thick ASV cloud layer.) I'm currently using the 256x256 texture set, and haven't yet mipped them because I have to download that utility from the Microsoft FS SDK in order to do it. Before I go to the trouble, I'd like to get opinions on whether mipping the clouds actually provides much of a performance benefit…

Hi gang,I just noticed something interesting... I'll be flying along with regular FPS then all of a sudden I get stutters. I switched to ASV at one point and noticed that it commented that a VAS point was autogenerated a few seconds ago. I kept my eyes open and low and behold the only time I get stutters is when VAS points are generated. Can you please invistigate this?Also about the weather updates... When is the weather updated? According to the time that is specified or when the nearest WX station is encountered.Thanks in advance.
