Hi,Could someone please explain to me how upper layer clouds are reported and how ASV generates them. The reason I ask is that I live about 25 miles South West of EGNV (Durham Tees Valey in the UK) and on the afternoon of 2nd August at about 14:30Z I was out walking my dog and I noticed that the skies above me were filled with a most amazing display of cirrus clouds, above layers of cumulus and stratus. Several aircraft passed over from EGNV and EGNT and I thought that the view from up there must be equally marvellous. Hello, I found that after each running of my anti spyware program "Spy Sweeper" I have this error at start of ASV and I have to "repair" ASV & repair SU2."ASV Run-time error '339' Component "chilkatzip.dll" or one of his dependencies not correctly registered : a file is missing or invalid"What is possible to avoid this ?Thanks in advance

Hi all:Just wanted to say how ASV worked during the crash of miracle flight, 358 at the Pearson International Airport in Toronto on Tue. 2Aug.05.I live in London Ont. which is approximately 90 miles west of the airport and the weather at the time in London was hot with few clouds.I did a flight from Montreal to Toronto Pearson landing on Rwy 23 at approximately 16:20 Hrs shortly after the crash. I was wondering if it was possible for AE to set its self based on geographic loactions. For instance, in Los Angles, the haze would be much more brown than blue, while in New york it would be blue not brown.Just wondering.-Matt

Somehow I've lost my Active Radar displaying weather precipitation. I have not reconfigured anything but cannot see thunderstorms on the display all day. Is it me or the server?Brown

i amusing ASV with the update and find that the VAS points generated are extremely strong. They are enough to "blow" a heavy jet right off an approach. From a few thousand feet to ground they seem a bit over done and unrealistic so I've turned them off. I have left the Enable Vertical Air Simulation "On ". Will that still give some turbulence at higher altitudes?

This question may have been asked before, but I can't find it on my searches. When the METAR is reporting visibility of 9999M or 10SM, FS responds properly as unlimited. However if the actual visibility on the ground is 35 miles, what would AS report and what would FS then report. Can't quite understand the 10SM for unlimited when the actual visibility could be greater than 10SM but not unlimited.An explanation of the values would be greatly appreciated.Bob JohnsonDenver

I purchased Active Sky last Monday or Tuesday (25th or 26th of July). After a major disaster yesterday, all my e-mail was lost as well as my OS. So I need to re-install Active Sky, but don't have the e-mail with the order number. Could you send me a copy of the order number to [email protected]

I've been using ASV for almost a week now. So far I am not impressed. I feel that AS2004.5 worked so much better in depicting the weather. One problem I am having is the haze issue. I have the haze setting unchecked in ASV but on every flight I end up with haze on final approach and I can't see the ground. Latest example was today. I did a flight into DFW. The weather in real life didn't have any haze. In fact there were no clouds. But using ASV the FS sky was partly cloudy and there was haze almost all the way to the ground. Hi,Thanks for the purchase, welcome to Active Sky, thanks for re-posting here!1. In FS the weather must be set on User Defined, but after that you never need to visit that FS screen again.2. Now for that one we will need to know your ASV settings. In your ASV folder there is a file called ASV.ini You can open that file with Notepad or Wordpad, copy and paste its contents and paste them into a reply. I'll be back later to check on this!3. I have used 4.5 and then updated to ASV5. I never had this problem before I upgraded, but not really sure it is ASV but have to go through the process. While flying FS9 using AVS in about 30minutes at high altitude my air speed goes to zero and the aircraft goes straight down. Someone told me it was the pitot which is Shift H. I tried that but it didn't work in 747-400 and in the default 737 I turned it on and still crashed. If I fly without AVS everything is fine. That is why I am posting this message.Has anyone encountered the same. Thanks in advance for any help.

Spent some time searching but alas I must post. I had to reinstall today (see earlier thread) and I decided to convert Mips before I went to work, so I would come home and take off. I noticed when I started the process my hard drive (brand new) was not making any noise. I did not think much of it until I came home 8 hours later to FE saying Standby...Converting Textures........ $#^! I thought, something weird. I uninstalled everything (related to ASV) per the uninstallation instructions in the manual, then reinstalled ASV w/the SU2. Turned off virus software/Spamware, the whole lot. I had a system meltdown (i.e., my hard drive died :-halo). I have a new hard drive and have reinstalled windows and FS and am now in the process of trying to get all my add-ons back. Of course ASV is at the top of the list. My question is how do I get the program back without purchasing again? I downloaded the upgraded version before, but now there is no trace of 4.5 as it was with my old, dead HD. Any help would be most appreciative. Thanks.

Today,i purchased the ASV 5 full version. Just right after the installation, i clicked on the "New Route" button, a msg showed up"Please wait for initialization to complete", after a while, anohter msg showed up "Main Thread Process Error......Retrying at next interval", it is the same case when i clicked on the Refresh button. I just purchased a 2nd HD and am in the process of reinstalling FS9 and my addons. I can't find my original AS copy. I have the MR1 update, and have been using build 174. Can I just copy over the folder from the first drive to the new one, or do you have to install? Second question, if I can't find my original AS d/l, what do I do?Rick
