Wondering if anyone has seen problems with Ambient Weather Control CTD with ASN for FSX or P3Dv3.1 using the current ASN downloads?

I carefully read the manual and I do not see any information on how to uninstall AS 2012. I note there is no uninstaller with the program. I presume one first restores the backup and then uses the Windows uninstaller. The reason i ask is that I wanted to try the beta updates, but want to make sure can uninstall and reinstall fresh copy if things do not work out. Some in the forum indicated that since they installed the Beta 1 2012 update they can no longer restore their backups textures. The one cannot uninstall the program because the AS textures will not be replaced by default FSX textures Greg

Guys I am having trouble with asn depicting thick clouds at higher altitude For instance I set asn manual mode for testing at cyvr heavy rain thunderstorms clouds start base at 3000 And as thick as 30000ft thou I get to 13000ft and clear above Any advise appreciated Cheers Mike

Hello, I have two questions about the as_connect.dll file. What is this file used for? For FSX with ASN installed on the same PC am I supposed to have the as_connect.dll in this folder: F:\FSX\as_srv I do not have the as_connect.dll on my hard drive after installing ASN. So, wondering if I have a good full install of ASN?

I'm in the process of going through the trials and challenges of upgrading to Windows 10, including all flight sim programs. After uninstalling and reinstalling ASN, I found an area of the U.S. that had rain. While the aircraft was on the tarmac, I noticed that there was a "bubble" around the plane where there was no rain. Almost like someone was holding an umbrella over the plane. However, when I went to the outside view, wherever the camera would be, there was a "bubble" there with no rain. I am curious if someone could help me create a theme like fsx has building storms. Is there a theme for this or can somebody help me set it up in manual weather?

I have been using AS for years, but could someone kindly just remind me... I load AS before FS9 and when FS9 is unpaused, AS does its 'stuff'. But how should the options look when you go into the FS9 weather menu? Which option should I see as checked, "Weather Themes"; Real World Weather - Static"; Real World Weather - Updated"; "User Defined Weather"? Or none (in which case, how do I get none checked)? It seems to me that I am getting weather set by FS9 rather than AS (which downloads real-world weather at intervals), though I may be wrong....

I have always had this problem, it looks so ugly and I wish I could get rid of it AS6.5, FS9)...I have posted before and haven't got anywhere. So here I am trying again. There is often a layer of 'rogue' clouds - most are stable, but there is one layer which constantly flickers, and as you pan slightly, in spot view, disappear: .. as I pan slightly the clouds in that area disappear. They flicker fast and constantly: I have tried varying view distances in FS9.. I am quite happy to get rid of the layer entirely, but nothing I have tried has worked. So help appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry if this was posted before but I could not find it in the forums. Myself and my uncle both use ASN and FSX and when we start FSX we get the error "Flight Sim is attemptingto start'as_btstrp_config_manager' (Version 1.0.1.1 Config Entry Number 2. Do you want to run this program as_srv_as_btstrp_config_manager.exe" I choose yes everytime but each time I open FSX I get posed the same question. As of now am running the SP# and SteamFSX-SE with latest update. Thanks

Hi everyone. This is probably self-inflicted but I want to post it here at least for the archives. Having upgraded my sim to Prepar3d 3.2, last Friday night I downloaded the most recent ASN patch to keep everything current. I don't know that this was necessary, as my ASN was working fine post-3.2, but I wanted to have the latest code running. After the install, two things happened: I had no visible weather. No clouds of any kind, even when running off the ASN profile where METAR was showing cloud layers at my location. I had a MASSIVE memory leak, running out of active memory and getting an out of memory error within about 15 minutes of launching any scenario. This w…

Ok ok I know there are several threads on this issue. However no ones came up with a definitive solution. The situation-the other night I was about to do a flight and then I noticed active sky wasn't downloading weather data so I closed it (WHILE THE SIM WAS STILL RUNNING) and decided to use the default weather engine instead. Well, shortly after doing this FSX crashed immediately and the event log said it was the MSVCR80.dll was the problem. ? So then doing further testing, sometimes I get the crash, sometimes not. Hello Hifi Team. After updating my ASn to B5926 i still get low Frames. I'm not the only one that haves this problem,some guys on P3d V2+V3 Facebook page also have this problem. I also changed the cloud.fx file (in shaderHLSL folder) from GetScreenQuadPositions from 0.67 to 0.50 but still loww frames. I reset my ASN settings to standard and also no luck. any help please.

Hello HIFI team. Such as other ASN users i have same problem. what i did is the following to gett normal frames again. Uninstall ASN> Installed B5868> Installed Update 5912 and frames are normal again. please fix this problem. greets Jeffrey.

I try to add Active Sky weather data into PFPX but by doing so I get the above error message I am supposed to enter a path and files ( see attachment ) but cannot locate them. Can anybody give me a hint ? Thank you HubertWerni

I have Fsx Steam and have been considering to buy Activesky Next. Would it be better to just get it from the steam store where it also seems to be cheaper or should get it from the official re-seller - Simmarket? After all, they are both the exact same thing - right?

Hi, I'm having issues getting the weather right in P3D. Somehow, when there's supposed to be a clear sky, I never get a clear sky unless I turn off ASN. There's always some sort of overcast cloud layer at high altitude that never goes away even if I set the weather manually in ASN. In P3D the weather setting is set to Active Sky weather theme. Any ideas?

Hi! I have a very strange problem with ASN, it doesn't smooth visibility changes between stations, entering voumetric fog layer and entering/leaving clouds. For example, the visibility on the ground and up to 3700ft AGL was around 4 miles (7km). When I was climbing with C172 and passed 3700ft, the visibility cnaged to 10 miles or so within a milisecond, or better to say instantly! It looks horrible and very unrealistic. I have that same problem when leaving clouds, fogged in the clouds and in the next moment, instantly I was out, no smooth transition, it lookes like the cloud dissapeared suddenly. I'm certain that sudden visibility changes didn't happened in some earlier…

Is it possible to run ASE on a machine that has both sims installed? I have ASE (just got it) on such a machine and want to use ASE on FS9, not FSX. How can I do this? Each time I hit the Start FS button it starts FSX. I want it to start FS9. TIA>

Hello. I was hoping something might be able to answer a quick question for me. I've noticed every time lately that when launching ASE for use with FS9 the primary server download always fails. Is anyone else seeing this or do I possibly need to change something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Guys, Steam today released ASN as a DLC for FSX-SE. Is there any differences to the version sold in Hi-Fi website? Especially for the price (25USD vs 37EUROS) Cheers

Hello, I have been an avid user of Active Sky 2012 for many years now and enjoy being able to load a flight plan and have the weather for each sector of the flight. Can Active Sky next do this? Can somebody please outline the main differences between the two?

I have the asn steam version and wondered why when I tune the radio frequency I get the appropriate weather but without the "you have information bravo" for example? Is this something that is not included? Or am I doing something wrong? The reasons I ask is that I was revisiting a 777 tutorial by a well known member of the flight sim community and heard it on his atis radio broadcast. One of the other reasons is I have just started flying on vatsim and I have to look at vatspy/vattastic to get this info.
