HiCould you elaborate a little bit more on how this system works?I hope I have not understood correctly that if the user wants to have wx-influenced texture sets, he would first have to "teach" ASA by taking snapshots of situations where he thinks the textures best depict current weather? This I mean compared to previous versions where the selection was made automatically by the program according to air stability and other variables. I'm not a meteorologist, so I would much rather have the program automatically select the most realistic textures for any given situation. And what if the user does not own any wx graphic addons, such as ASG or FE? He's stuck with default/free…

Hi!Before I purchase ASA I'd like to know how certain features are implemented, or how they can be fixed/adjusted in future service packs. Sorry for my english. Btw I'm using FS9.Uplifts/downdrafts:-I see there are "maximum updaft" and "maximum downdraft rate" options in ASA. If I get it right uplifts are generated from few factors : wind direction, wind speed, and the terrain slope under the aircraft. Is it right? Seems obvious but just checking.-If we have an uplift on one side of the mountain we get a downdraft on the opposite side, do I get it right?-How accurately ASA is calulating terrain slope? i.e. if we get a complex terrain under the aircraft does it result in m…

Whilst the families asleep, a quick trip to Sainsburys at 6am to get final bits and pieces - check hifi website and the download button is now active. Yipeeee - no one in the house need know! All d/l'd OK - fiddled with options, had a look at snapshot - that needs some further invest...So down to FSX - fire up Baron, Filton, UK take off - straight into and above cool looking low level cloud layer - never seen it look quite like that before - dont know whether its specific to new functionality of ASA - but am enjoying it!thanks for the early Xmas presentGary

HiFi Folks,I had FEX originally and changed to REX when the FEX weather engine failed to eventuate. Can you please explain what the advantage I may obtain from upgrading to Active Sky Advanced may be? I note that ASA doesn't include textures and uses other Add-ons for this purpose but what does ASA provide that either FEX or REX may not? Many thanks.Paul

In the middle of my first test flight with ASA (networked configuration):ESPA-ESMSVERAG UT31 HMR UL87 TONSA UN850 RASMUFL380LDS767DOF 22 December 20080900zVisibility settings the same as in ASX:Minimum Surface 0nmMaximum Surface 50nmMaximum Upper 50nmAfter less than 30 minutes in the air, the nice haze that limits the visibility and makes the ground disappear into the fog below me disappears. Using FSX, I could usually get the haze back after refreshing the weather in ASX, but I'm not 45 minutes into the flight (15 minutes since I lost the haze) and the haze hasn't come back. I've refreshed ASA weather multiple times.Let me remind you what I asked you a few weeks ago, and…

Hello I just purchased ASA tonight. My question is should I install on my client machine with xpax and FS commander 8, or install on my main machine with FSX, level D and PMDG 747? Will ASA impact my frame rates on main machine? I,m running a HP laptop as my client machine with AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 with 2gb ram and a NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M vid card. Thanks,Tom

Hello, this is for users currently using and for the dev's. I am wanting to know at about how much Virtual Memory ASA is using? Right now, AS6.5 hovers around 38,500K of VM. I am nitpicky due to OOM's. Thanks.

Hi folks,Own FS9 with tonns of addon, ASV6, nice powerful rigs and no plans to switch to FSX. Here is my list.1. Are you going to retain archive weather feature back to 2005 as it was included in AS previous releases? I'm normally fly in the "past", so this is very important feature for me.2. Is usage of Wide FS mandatory if I'm flying offline?3. How is virtual memory usage with ASA in FS9? The old one was quite hungry - afraid that combination of PMDG MD11, FSDT JFK and ASA might be mortal from the standpoint of OOM issues.4. I'm big fan of FE, so do I still have an option not to use ASA cloud's package as it was implemented in previous version?5. How to apply for discou…

I see the main page is getting closer . . . :( I have ASX installed on a client machine. I have ended up not using it much because it seems I have more CTDs when using it (not saying it is a product issue). I had anticipated installing ASA on my host machine, but reading the upgrade rules it seems that this will not be possible? Also, if I did install on the host, does it involve minimizing FSX? I run full screen and can not seem to minimize or go to windowed mode and back without a lock up or crash. Thanks for any input.Joe

Hello there everyone,I am still having some issues with ASX FSUIPC FSX and the infamous wind shifts. I have almost got it all fixed with registered FSUIPC and ASX but still have some random problems which im sure are the most difficult ones to fix. I am also having a few issues with the winds in FSX being different from ASX.I am wondering if ASA has improved this at all.I read through the faq and there is a question that mentions this: What is DWC and DVC?Would this DWC and DVC combined with registered FSUIPC be the best solution? or is that trying to do the same thing just a different way?Good Luck with your launch of this new software in the very near future, and th…

congrats on the development and release of another (I'm sure) great weather addon for FSX. I have to ask, in relation to the drag and drop method, are you able, yet, to finally utilise active and moving weather fronts in FSX?For example if I were to practise touch & go's and I could see the weather move in from a distance and perhaps with it, give a change in visibility, wind and rain and over time, to pass over the field... is that possible as it is in the excellent flight sim Flight Unlimited 3?CheersSteve

I've a strange problem.... I've both FS2004 and FSX, also ActiveSky 6.5 and ASX installed. With Flight Simulator 2004 never had any kind of problems with AS6.5, however, ASX starts ok, downloads the weather, and then, 5 minutes after that it just crashes for no reason! can AS6.5 and FSX coexists? why is this crash? I'm using ASX in networked mode running from a laptop. it updates the weather fine in FSX. I suspect this has something to do with SimConnect, but the connection to the sim works ok.using SP2 here, No accel.

What happens in FSX when you reach an area that's not covered by a weather station if you don't use the virtual weather station option? Does the weather just become clear weather at that point until you reach the next coverage area? Does ASX tell FSX to just render what's currently being rendered in the previous coverage area? Just trying to decide whether to have this option enabled or disabled and not sure exactly how it works.

Hi !I try it the short way: I create a weather via Wx configurator, lets say two SCT layers no VIS limit, no wind. I go to FS, weather looks good, but suddenly there is a change to overcast skies and visibilities of maybe 3 or 4 NM. What is going wrong ? "Depict FS haze layer" is not active !Thanks in advance ...Greetings, Mats !
