I'm flying from LFPG to ESSA and experiencing a rhythmic popping in and out of an apparent haze layer - repeating on about a 30-second cycle. The normal clouds remain, but the haze layer comes and goes. I'm running FS9 with the recommended Display-Settings and FSUIPC 3.85, with Weather Settings Off. ASA is set at the default values, including Disable Haze Layer checked ON. This is happening on the ground, during climb out, and at cruise ar FL370. Any hints or tips I may be missing?Jerry PostKORF

I tried to understand how to integrate Weather texture from other developpers into snapshot thanks to the Doc but it's not really clearTell me if I'm wrongIf you have XG everything can be done automatically just have to go to extented integration and click on the button... but for the other ones as REX, FEX how do you manage to make this integration?Do you have to install each texture first on your FS Folder then go and integrate the files into ASA? This could be a real big job to do ...Thank you for your help

I'm running ASA on a remote machine XP sp3. When I first installed all went well. However, now after going through the initial screen ending with the FSX connect - ASA minimizes itself to the task bar. Clicking on the task bar icon, or right clicking on the icon produces no response...not even a "restore" menu from the right click. Funny thing is that it connects with FSX fine and appears to work. However, I'd really like to be able to use the nice interface you folks spent so much time programming.I did a complete uninstall, deleted the ASA folder and re-installed, same thing happens. Must be something in the registry. This is an upgrade from ASX.Any help would b…

Hi,,, I can fly with Online mode just fine all day....I can use a saved weather file just fine.....What I can't seem to get going is just loading textures from AS Graphics and seeing them in the sim..In AS6 Engine I have Online updates off...Enable AS Graphice Auto Submit checked, and both themes checked WX InfluencedNow then in Graphics I have set up the sky textures I want, sent that to FS9,and had conformation that they are loaded..I start FS9......And user defined weather auto showes as such, but when the sim loads there are no sky textures at all........Just nothing but slightly hazy perhaps..Can't quite tell on that..but what I saved in Graphics is not showing....Any…

I upgraded my ASX program to the new ASA one two days ago. It started fine until yesterday when it started it's initial load up screen then disappeared and never loads the main screen?!?!? It still appears on my taskbar below and my task manager says it's running but instantly disappears when I choose exit on my task manager after waiting too long.why is my ASA program not loading up properly? Any help I would appreciate it.SeanPS. It might not be the program as my fsx is erroring too often now too as well as other game programs which tend to be shutting down without reason.

I am having some trouble understanding the manual. I really miss a 'weather-for-newbies' chapter: I mean, what's METAR, PIREP, etc.? I know these are very common abbreviations for all you guys who have been using weatherprograms for ages, but I have never ever used a weather program and I feel the manual is letting me down... :( Okay, having said that: I have a more specific question. To get visibility graduation and smoothing (which afaik makes for instance the horizon less harsh...?) the Global weather environment is enabled, meaning... there is only ONE station for the entire world...?!? Does that mean the weather at the departure airfield is the same as on the destina…

Is there a code change in ASA that would no longer talk to VoxATC the same as ASX did? When now using ASA, VoxATC no longer gets the Temp. and Dew Point or the altimeter setting. The temps are always the same 20 and 0 the altimeter is always 29.92. The sim it's self is showing the correct readings. The winds in VoxATC however seem to be fine. I did not have this problem with ASX.

I may have this wrong but as I understand it, AS6.5 and ASG are intertwinded with each other. You input your route, process it and then ASG inserts the correct textures automatically. All done very seamlessly and very well. Now, with ASA coming and I have read the FAQ that says this is a stand-alone app and that you use whatever graphics package you want with it. Here is my question. How are users with AS 6.5 and ASG going to be able to delete AS6.5 while still keeping ASG in order to run ASA? Secondly, Are we now going to have to look at the wx ASA produces and go in manually to ASG and hunt and peck for the right graphics to load up? I hope not because how it is done no…

Hey guys,Quick question on a possible issue,I am currently at FL 370 over the Atlantic. Current station is $273 the Metar says winds 225 at 0 but the winds for FL340 and 390 are 199@138 and 197@138 respectively. What I am seeing in flight are the surface winds of 225 at 0 and this is not matching my wind predictions in the FMC at all, hence I might be stopping in SHA for a quick top off before heading on to EGLL LOL.Screenshot and Flight Log attached.BTW, departing EWR in some moderate rain and turbulence this morning was amazing!!! The rain is so much more realistic it is like night and day over our trusty ASV 6.5 which has served admirably well for FS9 to date.Final…

Hi,For various reasons (new video card and a WD Raptor hard drive) I've decided to reinstall Vista and FSX. I bought the upgrade version for ASA, as I have owned ASX since release.Do I have to install ASX in order to install ASA, or can I just point it at the install file? I'd prefer to keep this system as clean as possible, as I use it solely for FSX.Thanks!-stefan

I fly using the PMDG MD11 and seem to have some unusual temps. ASA loaded and indicates -4C at airport, aircraft TAT concurs with that. By flight level 200 TAT is +7C, FL220 0C and at FL 340 -27C. The weather depiction in ASA indicate temp at FL 340 should be -54.3C. The TAT temp on the flight display is obviously inaccurate. Is there a fix for this? This has only occured since using ASA as the weather engine for my flights.Andrew

I've got ASA with FS9On the visibility screen, I've got all three boxes checked, and then minimum surface visibility set to 0, and the max surface visibility set to 50, and the Max Upper Visibility set to 100.Sight distance in Display/Weather is set to 100, Cloud draw set to 80, and 100 percent 3d clouds with max density of detailed clouds. What I EXPECT to get is no more than 50 NM until up in the flight levels and then get maybe 100 NM visibility from there. What I SEEM to get is 50 NM max everywhere. Am I misunderstanding something?

Can someone explain to me how this is supposed to work, because I just finished a flight where it did not work like I expected. I have the "VATSIM online weather" option enabled. Landed at KFSD at about 2120Z with 2sm visibility. Then the weather updated, with the ActiveSky METAR from 1556Z reporting 1/4sm visibility in fog, but the VATSIM METAR was from 2056Z reporting 4sm visibility. At the end of the update ActiveSky was showing the VATSIM metar, but the weather was being set to the ActiveSky conditions, and that was the METAR that flashed at the top of the screen after the update. Should not the VATSIM METAR take precedence over the (older) ActiveSky METAR? I'm …

FPS drops to 7 every few seconds with ASA 15 minute downlads running. Cut ASA off and everything is fine with steady locked 30 fps. Would like to figure this out because flying into developing weather is one of the best things about ASA or ASX. I didn't have this pulsating fps problem with ASX.

Just an observation. When taking a new snapshot, if I assign a title that contains 'slash' - '/' ; then everything appears to work but the snapshot never gets saved. Is this an 'unintended feature', and might it happen with other special characters?

I'm running FS9.1 in Win XP and have FSUIPC 3.85. Over England tonight is a high pressure system giving a pressure at ground level of about 1038mB.I start FS9 and go to my nearest airport Coventry (EGBE). I then start ASA and that eventually reports the correct pressure of 1038mB, with which my barometer at home agrees. However, ATC (Radar Contact) tell me that QNH is 1016mB and sure enough, when I press the B key the altimeter reads 1016! In ASv6.5 the two figures always agreed, as indeed they should. Is there a problem of communication between ASA and FS9?Incidentally, I also experienced the extreme wind buffeting mentioned in another thread, when at FL330. I unchecked wi…

Hi just bought ASA and have some questions. I have never used any of the different products from HI FI before so not familiar with them. First I have FEX installed so I made a snap shot and save it so I think that is all I need to do for that. Next I like to fly with real weather, so I start ASA first then click the start FS button, will this automatically update real weather where ever I fly each time? The first place I went to, a text message said ASA loaded, but when I went to a new airport I did not see that message so I was unsure if ASA was active at the new airport. And if was'nt what do I need to do to restart ASA making weather? Thanks.

I don't want this to come across as negative. I am only mentioning it as an FYI in case something needs looked into.I'm finding that ASX and ASA are rendering two totally different looking weather depictions when flying the same flight at the same time with the same historical weather. For instance, today I took a short flight from KLBE to KPIT because that flight takes me right over a golf course that I happened to play golf at today. Since I was familiar with the way the sky looked, I thought i'd see how the two compared. First off, when loading the historical weather for 1:00pm and looking at the Report screen, ASX reported the cloud coverage as Scattered. ASA re…

I found like others that ASA was not working (except for the very first invocation) in FSX. Having read the forums I disabled my registered copy of FSUIPC (#4.40) through dll.xml modification and restarted FSX. Still no joy but then leaving FSX running and restarting ASA I received the start/finished messages from ASA with a visible change in the weather proving to my satisfaction that ASA was communicating with FSX. I have attached my ASA log file.

I purchased and installed the ASA upgrade to ASX. I still have ASX installed, can I now remove ASX from my machine or should I leave ASX in place? With ASA I see no messages in FSX like I used to have with ASX "ASX connected "Starting weather etc" "Weather complete". It would be nice to have confirmation in FSX that ASA is connected and working? Thanks in advance.Merry ChristmasJohn

Dear Hifi-Team,I currently consider to buy ASA as it seems to be very different from AS6 or even ActiveSky WxRE from which I started years ago.I do have, however, a special question, which answer is important to me...Due to your company server update intervall, METARs were only updated every hour or so. This resulted in different weather situations while flying online. Now, I read, that you do have a new weather server online since January 2007. Are the METARs now updated on a more frequent basis?I.e., will I am able to have weather datas which are more recent to real-time datas?Regards,Simon
