First of all I would like to say I love ASA. The weather depiction is awesome even with my current clouds (using asg). However I am having trouble with a couple of items. One being that I am not receiving metar data within the sim at all even having checked off show in sim text messages. Two automatic downloads seem to work for a while then nothing at all untill I manually refresh ASA then it works for a while then stalls. Also getting fsuipc errors and I have tried both 3.80 and 3.85 with the same results. I am attaching the ASA log in hopes this issue can solve a possible problem. Thanks in Advance RF

Only had a few moments to check out ASA, and I think it's wonderful.I'm curious about my settings in FSUIPC (FS9) now. With ASv6.5 I had a few things checked in FSUIPC's wind and cloud pages. Smoothing was on, some turbulence and adding occasional cirrus was checked. I was under the impression this was okay with ASv6.5 and all seemed okay with those settings. Now, with ASA, am I correct in understanding that all cloud and wind (most/all Wx) settings in FSUIPC should be unchecked so as not to conflict with ASA?? I figure the wind smoothing in FS9 is now fine just with ASA, so I shouldn't need the FSUIPC checked also. Plus, ASA adds cirrus, CAVOK clouds, and handles tur…

I have Windows XP SP3, .NET 3.5SP1, latest DirectX and drivers and MS patches and run FS9.When starting ASA, the status window shows me that weather data is downloaded, then a decryption takes place, then "Parsing line items" is displayed and a second later ASA quits and I have the desktop again. :(Help, please!Andreas

Just one question about the ASA License Terms: i've installed ASA on my main FSX-machin (which is the first installation). Now i'll try a networked configuration so i've to setup ASA on my Laptop which will be installation number 2. So one last installation on another PC left. Maybe the laptop might be too slow to handle ASA (of course it fits the sys-requirements) and i decide to install ASA on a third PC at home. Then all 3 "moves" are complete. If i change my current Hardware on the main FSX-machine then this machine might be appear as a new PC and i'll be unable to install ASA again? Please note that this post isn't critic on the HiFi Sim anti-piracy. It's just a quest…

Just starting to get to grips with the snapshot element of ASA. One query- When ASA autogenerates snapshots is it obeying any of the settings options set in X Graphics or ( as I think) simply using relevant textures from the XG database files?Secondly, and I appreciate it may vary with specific add ons, presumably you do not have to actually run FSX time and time again to build up the snapshot database. I have been varying textures via FEX and XG (XG last) and once the relavant program confirms installed in FSX , taking the snapshot and saving via ASA. Using this method ii hope I have not simply been constantly re-naming and saving the same textures over and over again?!!…

I've completed my upgrade, and generated a bunch of weather graphic snapshots with ASG. Do I need to keep these old apps installed, or can I now remove them? For the developers, it would sure be nice to be able to clean out the old installation in the Modules directory.

Greetings,Great program. But it seems to only update the original airport/area that FSX was started in. Example: I loaded a flight at KSAC. I flew around the area with astoundingly real weather conditions depicted in FSX (Wow!). Then I changed locations to KCOS and flew to KAPA. The weather was never updated. The wind was supposed to be out of the North but in the sim it was always out of the South. And the visibility was never correct. I also experienced considerable pauses in the sim when approaching KAPA.I am attaching a copy of the ASA log to this message (I hope). . I am running Vista 64 and FSX SP2.Thanks for such a great program. And thanks for any help.B…

Have ASA running on remote PC and was flying NTAA to NCRG with my PMDG 744X. All well and climbed out to FL360 in lovely weather. I have FSUIPC running as well for weather smoothing. All was going well when I noticed that I started into a 500 to 1000 fpm descent and could see the altitude climbing slowly as FSUIPC smoothed the change in QNH. I watched this for quite some time and when it stablised my altitude still said 36,000 but when I checked with VatSpy it showed me online at just above 31,000 feet. Using weatherset I saw that the QNH at that point was 875. Then as I got closer to some islands the QNH started to rise and my plane started to climb to keep the 36,000 fee…

first i'd just like to say thanks for putting ASA together it's really quite amazing. ASX was great but this just takes things to a whole new level. in particular the improvements to the overcast depictions and visibility are just fantastic.i had a few hiccups...out of about 12 hours of flying so far i saw on 2 occasions where my temperatures and weather seemed to temporarily reset to some standard value, last night i was flying from KAZO to KTVC in real world weather and it was at 12-15F at 30.2ish for most of the flight but for around 10 minutes my temperature and pressure reset to 59F and 29.91. clouds and visibility snapped too. they returned to expected values after …

  13. I've read a number of threads about people running ASX\ASA over a network via SimConnect. I was wondering what the benefit to doing this was? I have a computer downstatirs that I could easily network to my flight sim rig. Is it worth doing this? What are the benefits? Does it help free up my sim rig so that runs FSX better?

Hi,I made some tests with ASA and tried to integrate FSBuild with ASA like I did before with ASV6. I changed the location of the pointer to the ASA weather directory to get the data into FSBuild. That worked fine but then I detected, that the winds aloft created in the briefing are totally different from the winds in FSBuild log. With ASV6 did this work perfectly and the two values for the wind/direction for the several intersection points on my route did match exactly with the values ind the FSBuild Log. As the difference is very big (and with no obvious algorithm for the deviation) fuel calculation for lonng haul flights is incorrect. Can you please check this together w…

It seems that ASA is causing FSX to CTD if I have enable visiblility graduation and smoothing checked. If I uncheck this it works just fine. The CTD happens as soon as the ASA weather tries to load into FSX. This is the first CTD I have ever had with FSX so I know it is somehow related to ASA.***update***I have actually learned ithe CTD is being caused when the Enable Direct Wind Control and smoothing is turned on. This is turned on automatically when your enable the visiblity smoothing.

Hello,I have installed ASA in FSX which was not straithforward. Then I flew two flights and the last turned into a disastor. It was a flight from CYUL-CYHZ. During climb the aircraft, LevelD B767, started to fly an S pattern and it just got worst as the flight progressed. At a turn at a way point, the aircraft banked more than 45 deg. At 50 min. into the flight, a message appeared saying your computer has run out of available memory and then FSX disappeared. There was snow in the visor during climb at 28,000 ft with no clouds above. I think that this program was released way too early in development. Fortunately, I had not uninstalled FSX.Maurice

Hope you can help. Here is my question, I will try to be as clear as possible. I use both FSX and FS9, both sim's are installed on the same computer. I have ASv6 for fs9. And I use ASX on a laptop to generate weather for fsx via simconnect. So, my question is this. If I make a single purchase of ASA, (a new version, not an upgrade), can I use that one version INSTALLED ON MY LAPTOP to generate weather for FSX (via simconnect like usual) and still use the same laptop to generate weather for fs9 via widefs? In other words, is this one new ASA purchase (not the upgrade, the new version) good enough to generate weather for both sim's via the simconne…

Greetings and Merry Christmas,I recently made the upgrade to ASA and am holding off installing until I have the time to proceed. My main FSX rig is at home, but I have been known to enjoy simming while away on a laptop. I gather that I will need to purchase an additional license to install onto the 2nd PC from looking at the installation notes. However I only have one license key for ASX, so will I need to purchase the "upgrade" or "stand alone" version for the 2nd PC? Thanks

Since I just purchased ASX only about 2 weeks ago, could someone please tell me what improvements there are in ASA that would warrent me paying an additional $30 for the upgrade. I guess i'm a little confused on some of the features (like the snapshot stuff) and don't quite get what ASA offers over ASX. Is the weather engine that much better (like say $30 better)? How does this snapshot feature work exactly? I mean I already use REX or FEX to load cloud, sky, etc. textures so I don't understand how ASA would improve on that. Are there other features that ASX doesn't have that are worth the cost?Thanks....

First WELL DONE! I posted initial comments on FS9 forum. After a few more days of testing, I've got a few more notes:1) Jim--if you could post a "generic" preferred settings for FS9 ASA users like you did with AS6 that would be helpful. The documentation does a pretty good job of explaining certain capes, but there's nothing better than some expert tweaks.2) I assume when I want to import a flightplan from FSBuild I simply click the "change flightplan icon" within briefings and import--the default speed setting is 120kts--is there some way to change that? (I mean besides typing in 400kts etc--can I change that default value?)3) During descents the winds change dramatic…

Hello HiFi Sim,Thank you for continuing to expand and improve upon your products. I upgraded from ASX to ASA and tried a few flights. Visually I am liking the improvements with the clouds and distance haze. But I am hitting some show-stoppers which is giving me troubles. The only changes I have made since installing are:- Set Automatic Downloads from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.- Disabled startup sound effect.- Increased max cloud layers from 5 to 7.- Turned on Enable Direct Wind Control and Smoothing.Today I conducted two test flights, ORD -> EWR departing at around 9:30am and CLE -> EWR departing at around 3:30pm. Precip, clouds, and winds were what was expect…
