The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.
  1. [Just fresh from the Austrian Alps...returning today for a trip...bit closer to home...🙂...] Many years ago, when I started living in Texas (Austin) for a few years...being bit of a history fan, one of the first towns I visited was San Antonio, just ~70 miles southwest of Austin (an hour and half away, no issue, could be accomplished in a weekend day...). Then one day I was chatting with a local friend, and I asked about El Paso, and casually said to him...it should be a good 2-3 hours' drive, I guess. The answer was I should budget about (9-10) hours, El Paso being ~600 miles west of Austin. Texas is, by far, the largest of the contiguous states in U.S., notin…

  2. Lately I've been re-visiting and re-watching some of the Classic (1970s...🙂...) films...and if with bits of aviation in them, the better...The last two I watched recently are the (original) "Airport" and "Where Eagles Dare". In the latter, I like the interplay between the two main actors: the (already) established and accomplished Richard Burton and the (then) upcoming star Clint Eastwood...And, of course, there are bits of aviation involved too...e.g., the Ju-52 flying the Team in in the dramatic opening crescendo, and also helping them make their escape out in the ending sequence... (Note: Unfortunately, the RW plane was destroyed in 2018, in an accident.) But the …

Today I'm going from the British Virgin Islands, more precisely from Terrance Lettsome Airport on Beef Island (next to Tortola) to St. Kitts. But I'm taking a small detour via Sint Maarten. And here we have our good, old Staggerwing Hmmh... Obviously we are on a secret mission today, because we are flying without any identification To be on the safe side, I ask the pilot: "Are we smuggling rum today?" The answer comes promptly: "We ain't smuggling nothing, Mista. We are trading in West Indies goods". Well… that could be fun We are now over the French part of Sint Maar…

Flybe has been always a favorite airline of mine, as probably true for many of us, here. The airline that ceased operations a few years ago was known for its distinctive colors, but the signature "purple" (see below) was one of my most favorite of its liveries. I read today, the airline had said, "Purple is not just our new brand color, it reflects our passion...our flagship purple plane reflects our new world of color and light...". One has to admire these the elements of passion... I'd flown earlier, here, the shorter ATR (42-600), please see, if you wish, my ATR in Jamaica post...BTW, I was thinking a bit... I've travelled, in about a week, from Norway to Jamaica …

  8. A long while ago, I'd got the MSFS/Asobo ATR Turboprop, but had never got to fly it. So, I took it out today for a first trial...and chose the Caribbean skies over Jamaica for a short trip. Jamaica is an island country, about 150 miles in length and a maximum width of ~50 miles (and as narrow as only 20 miles wide in some parts). So, I could bicycle the width of the country, coast to coast, in a couple of hours...Nice... (or even less time if I get to use my (newly acquired) Electric (exercise-free) Bike ...🙂...10 mph seems too slow on it...). In contrast, I was just recalling one of my posts, here, and the (RW) trip, from Chicago to New Orleans, also widthwise across U.S…

  10. It is time to continue my trip report Warning: Not much flight action in this post! After arriving in Milford Sound we took a walk around the village. The first place for a simmer (and probably for many other visitors as well) is the famous airport. Sure we spotted a number of planes going in and out - all within a few minutes. The scenery has lots of details, I can´t show them all here, ... ... because we went along the peninsula a bit further to Roscos Kajaks. And surely we enjoyed the views of Bowen Falls. We took a boat to Sandfly Point, the end of the Milford Track - hard to …

I picked up the SLH Caribbean airport bundle today... direct from their site. Payment was using Gpay and was simple enough. The downloads are all zip files which I put in my Addon Linker Caribbean folder. File sizes range from about 100MB to 1GB or so. I wanted to take some views of the airports for you guys. In my opinion, if you even have the slightest inkling to fly this area....the purchase is WELL worth it. Some airports seem slightly nicer than others but overall the quality is fine, especially for the price. I screwed up a bit with the Bermuda TXKF airport, I took a closeup of the GA ramp. There is a full terminal that I sort of captured in the ove…

  20. After seeing the 7 (Gaya) airports listed in Ryan's Caribbean Post, first I looked for the Caribbean (XVI) Update on my Xbox system. It showed up as an optional update of "12GB"...and I thought it would take several hours for installation. However, as a pleasant surprise, it took only about 15 minutes...so, I went on to test 2 of the airports (see the full list of 7 in Ryan's post). I've shown, below, a lift-off from (MTCA) Antoine-Simon Airport, over and across the mountains (first 10 pictures), and a touchdown into (MKJS) Sangster International Airport (rest 8 pictures). MKJS has an ILS Rwy of 10,000 ft length, if you wish to fly in with a jetliner... I'm plea…

  23. Since I recently saw here a BRAATHENS S.A.F.E. Boeing 767, (Braathens SAFE operated two 767-200s for 2 years), I've been thinking about both Braathens SAFE and SAS, two of my historically interesting airlines. First, it is to be noted that "S.A.F.E." stands for "South American & Far East" because soon after been established (its founding in 1946 was actually 4 months ahead of the (mainline) Scandinavian Flag carrier airline "SAS" that we know today), it had first opened (international) routes to such destinations. For example, one of its Far East routes (quite impressive for the time) went like this: [Oslo -> Amsterdam -> Marseille -> Cairo -> Basra -…
