The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

Hi Everybody, Work continues on my global night lighting edits. With the airport, city and highway lighting looking good, time to focus on AI aircraft lighting. I never did like the oversized balls that were at the ends of the wings in all my AI aircraft. Work in progress. In one shot you can see AI aircraft in distance, they no longer look like oversized lights on my monitors. AI lighting is not included just yet, but you can try the other lights if you like. They re located here: https://x-plane.to/file/388/x-plane-12-night-lighting-edits https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Vf5zs2pfAEshBy3yue_z9y5_UDNsvnF9/view https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DL-7…

Here is a short flight (~350 nms) I did today in South America, from Santiago International Airport (SCEL) in Chile to the airport (SACO) in the city of Cordoba in Argentina. Cordoba is Argentina's third-busiest airport, after the top two busiest airports of the country, both of which are located in the capital city of Buenos Aires. In this flight, prior to activating FMS/NAV Mode (eastward) towards Cordoba, I've headed first slightly northeast for about 50 miles to the vicinity of Aconcagua peak (22841 ft), which is the highest summit in the Andes range and the highest mountain in the Western and Southern Hemispheres, being also the tallest peak outside of the Himal…

I happened to recall today that, a long while ago, during one of my visits to the (Great) Smoky Mountains in Tennesse, I had once taken a short onward road-trip from the town of Gatlinburg, further southeast, up and across the mountains, on U.S. Route 441, down to Cherokee, NC, and then to Asheville, NC, (which is the destination of my flight today). This stretch of Appalachian highway is well-known for beautiful vistas throughout the drive (most of which I recall fairly well). Now, being a bit more familiar with the Rockies, I checked today that the highest of the Smokies is 6,643 ft compared to e.g., the highest of the Rockies which is 14,440 ft. And here is a bit…

Been trying to get to grips with the whole flight planning / autopilot thing for the big tubes. Not entirely successful (more at the end) but slowly getting there (maybe). Tried a flight from Glasgow over to Brussels, late afternoon. OK until the arrival was approaching. I'd had a couple of previous attempts and in both those cases when I came back to the PC to check the aircraft had completely ignored EBBR and just gone heading straight on (almost made it to Moscow one time!), but I was sort of keeping an eye on this flight, and could see it was way too high and too fast as it was approaching EBBR and was obviously planning to go past again, so I took it back under manua…

I'm reasonably familiar with both NZ(SI) and NZ(NI) islands and been always impressed by the incredible range of (scenic and mountainous) valleys and multitude of nooks-and-crannies, they offer for exploration...all explored by me on-the-desktop of course...🙂...This is thanks to the (Orbx) scenery add-ons in my past SIMs. A short while ago, here in MSFS, I'd done a quick survey around the South Island. There, I'd followed a fast and high route, while testing/flying the (stock) 787-10 in the (pleasing) ANZ (black & white) ferns leaf livery. So, that flight was both fast (Mach 0.80+) and high (FL250). Here, I'm roughly recreating part of that route, but at low speeds (8…

As many of you will remember, one catecory of sim flights I do is re-flying trips that I have done in real life. Posting screenshots from these flights, I often added some real life-photos. This has become more challenging in the last years, due to two reasons: 1. With MSFS not many sceneries cover the Orbx forum rule "must contain scenery made or sold by Orbx", so these can´t be posted as I did in the past on the Orbx forum. 2. Over the past two years about half of the guys that used to post and comment moved to the AVSIM forum, and half stayed at Orbx. Now that some more attractive payware sceneries have been established, I will try to take up my documentation pra…

We're leaving Provo for Telluride Colorado... its a real murky day here (again!) with a lovely recipe of snow and rain (thar be icing!). I'm sporting a fantastic paint job by Tim-HH, flying the incredible Black Square TBM 850, and leaving Verticalsim's KPVU and arriving default KTEX (Gaya I think?). Of course we're always equipped with the TDS GTNxi when possible... Ready for start Untitled-1 by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr Really poor vis here...one can just make out the VOR.... I was triggered for this post because I'd not yet got to install the (optional) Japan Update on my Xbox/MSFS system...the constant reminders finally got to me...🙂...especially because, here is a region of the World, that, as far back as I can recall, had always been excluded from due attention in our SIMs, until we started seeing posts and images of Japan, from MSFS, here. From long past, I recall a couple of payware (Japanese) Airport add-ons maybe, but flying across featureless landscapes for hundreds (or even thousands) of miles, to arrive at a reasonable looking airport, was never much fun in Japan or elsewhere...at least from my (own) past SIM experience... Anot…

First of all, the term "PNW", here, is (maybe) bit of a misnomer. This is because "PNW" (please also see e.g. my previous post on Washington's Olympic Peninsula) refers to the geographical region that extends from southeastern Alaska in the north all the way south to Northern California, including the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho etc., and (at least) the Canadian province of British Columbia and more. Then, further north of this PNW region, is located the North American Pacific Fjords that include the Pacific coastlines bordering on the Gulf of Alaska to the north, towards the southeast, all the way down to the states of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia's V…

To better examine the MSFS (default) scenery (especially the terrain topology) compared to what I recall (fairly well) from my previous SIM(s) (that were enhanced by add-ons), I've, so far, generally opted, in my MSFS/Xbox system, to leave out the "Clouds" (a bit weary of those overwhelming clouds, frankly speaking...🙂...), the clouds, of course, is an integral (and critical) part of the overall scenery ambience. The Oxford English Dictionary defines "Scenery" as follows, "the natural features of an area, such as mountains, valleys, rivers and forests, when you are thinking about them being attractive to look at"...succinct and to the point...🙂...However, today, I wished …
